Jared Allen trade still ticks me off

What worse move can you make as a G.M. than to trade away the best young pass rushing DE in the game who is just coming into his prime? Makes me sick to watch the Vikings (even though its not their fault). This would be a totally different Defense if we hadnt made that trade. Besides the plays he makes he's the first guy there when someone else does firing up the team. :cuss:

-King- 01-17-2010 01:55 PM

I think we've had a Jared Allen thread every game they're on tv...

milkman 01-17-2010 01:56 PM

Jraed Allen would not have no position on this defense, so it would look no different.

ChiefJustice 01-17-2010 01:56 PM

You could trade two #1's, a #3, and your quarterback for Jay Cutler.

True but if they still had Jared Allen, they probably don't switch to a 3-4 in the first place.

Over-Head 01-17-2010 02:06 PM

Best move I saw the Chiefs make in a long time,
(besides giving us Rich Gannon, and a few AFC Championships :D )

Man he's having a monster day against Dallas

Says who?

They had Glen Dorsey and Tank Tyler, and they still forced the 3-4.

Besides, Jared didn't want to be here. Add that to the fact that with him on the team, we only won 4 games.

With him on this defense, it would still be awful.

InChiefsHeaven 01-17-2010 02:11 PM

I hate that watching the playoffs this year I've seen a BUNCH of ex-Chiefs out there besides Allen...Bennie Sapp, Monty Beisel, Scott Fujita...all players we let go of for one stupid reason or another.

...but I agree. Letting Allen go was the height of stupidity.

The Bad Guy 01-17-2010 02:13 PM

God ****ing almighty. Let it go. There are a million threads on this site about this.

Water is wet. Sky is blue.

Jared Allen is a Viking.

Beisel is god awful.

A bunch is 4?

Yes, but the defense had a fire and was starting to have a swagger with him. After we traded him it was like starting over. We had something to build on then. Now we're back to trying to find a foundation.

LaChapelle 01-17-2010 02:14 PM

Probably cost us Tebow this year

Well, notice that ALL of those guys are on playoff teams. I don't think any of them are "God Awful."

LaChapelle 01-17-2010 02:20 PM

The odds of Allen facing JaFatAss twice a year
and not having a collapsed lung is fairly small

Monty Beisel is a terrible linebacker.

Scott Fujita is an average linebacker.

Jared Allen is a stud.

Benny Sapp is a punk asshole who makes 1-2 good plays a game and then commits a PI penalty or unsportsman-like conduct penalty.

None of those guys are making the 2009 Chiefs suck any less. Allen wanted out, and that marriage was un-salvagable.

Pioli Zombie 01-17-2010 02:25 PM

I agree you don't trade Jared Allen.
But..what if Albert becomes a Pro Bowl Left tackle and Charles is a Pro Bowl 1,500 rusher. Is it THAT bad???

I didn't exactly agree with it, but we didn't "let him go". We did get a starting LT in Albert and Jammal Charles, plus Morgan.

It's just that the Vikes got instant graticfication with JA cause the rest of their team was ready or close to go to the next level and we are going to have to be patient to see if Albert and Charles take us to the promise land.

BigChiefFan 01-17-2010 02:31 PM

St. Louis probably regrets letting Jimmy Kennedy go, too.

Jared wanted out because Carl ****ed it up by opening up his idiot ****ing mouth. He called Jared an at risk player while backing up the brinks truck for LJ. Jared wanted to stay with the chiefs until Carl ****ed. Up.

he's been gone for 2 or 3 years now, and all the people involved in trading him away are gone. You may as well complain about Rich Gannon having been let go

Um...arent we here to discuss this stuff?...I mean I could drag an old thread from last time they played and we got to watch the Vikes doing all the things from the DE position we cant.

since when do the geniuses on CP believe everything that's said during a contract negotiation?

This will be brought up every big game he plays in, every big play he makes, until he retires.

And then we will resume talking about it when he is elected to the Hall of Fame.

Titty Meat 01-17-2010 03:17 PM

Hmm Branden Albert & Jamal Charles are pretty good.

If he didn't want to be here, I don't think he would have bothered to open his sports bar (which closed shortly after he was traded). Carl was an ass to the point that JA had enough, simple as that.

R&GHomer 01-17-2010 03:21 PM

Watching Jared play today for the Vikings really bummed me out. **** Carl:cuss: I am happy for the guy though, just wish he was still a Chief.

Mama Hip Rockets 01-17-2010 03:22 PM

I have been bitter about this trade ever since it was made, but now that Albert and Charles are starting to come around, I am able to live with it. I still think it was stupid, but I think what they got in return is going to end up being pretty dang good.

I will go on record stating that I hold no grudge with the Chiefs what so ever for allowing Oakland to have him. :shake:
None at all.

Hootie 01-17-2010 05:14 PM

I think Jared Allen would be just as good in a 3-4 as he is in a 4-3...

I'm thinking DeMarcus Ware...

KCrockaholic 01-17-2010 05:25 PM

Whoa Whoa, as much as it sucked letting Jared Allen go, he did not want to be in KC anymore, plus we wouldn't have a runningback today named Jamaal Charles, nor a possible franchise O-lineman if he can get his act together named Branden Albert. Think about that first.

Allen is the best DE in the NFL IMO. Not the best "pass rushing" DE, but as an overall player, Allen is the best. Vs the Run he is spectacular, and rushing the passer he is incredible.

BigMeatballDave 01-17-2010 05:34 PM

Boo ****ing Hoo. Its not like we didn't get anything out of that trade.

BigMeatballDave 01-17-2010 05:37 PM

I was never bitter about it. I didn't like it at 1st, but he did not want to be here. Now that we see the type of players we have in Albert and Charles, it may turn out to be one of Carls best moves.

True, true. That is what I talked about in my other post. Having Charles here has made the Allen trade look pretty good.

Why is it so hard for people to grasp this? His contract was going to be up, it was either trade him or lose him and get nothing in return.

It was the way Carl pissed him off. Jared wanted to stay a Chief. Jared was labled a troubled player but it was okay to sign LJ to that huge contract. The bullshit double standard.

If the Chiefs had made the same contract offer the Vikings eventually did, he'd be a Chief.
