The Franchise 02-09-2010 12:59 PM

That guy also projected comp picks.

The Franchise 02-09-2010 01:02 PM

Out of that....I'd rather see this.

1st - Eric Berry
2nd - Brandon Spikes
2nd - Kyle Calloway
3rd - Marshawn Gilyard
4th - Maurkice Pouncey

RustShack 02-09-2010 01:03 PM

I've seen worse

eazyb81 02-09-2010 01:32 PM

I like it, but would prefer Cam Thomas over Kade Weston.

You'd have to think our defense would take a huge jump by adding Berry, Spikes, and Norwood.

googlegoogle 02-09-2010 01:39 PM

Tampa takes Dez Bryant?

What receiver do they have? Bryant is not going to play there. Clayton and Stovall haven't lived up to the hype. Anything is possible...

Chiefnj2 02-09-2010 02:30 PM

Spikes would be tempting at the 2a spot, but there are some potential offensive playmakers still available - Williams, Tate and Benn. I think I'd take one of them.

2b might be too early for Norwood, after his disappointing SB week.

Round 4, you can't pass on Pouncey.

sfchief 02-09-2010 03:30 PM

5. Berry
37. Tate
51. Washington(is there b/c we don't take Spikes he's talented but not the right 53)
69. Fox
104. Pouncey
136. Ryan Mattews BAA
143. Cam Thomas
147. Pitta
174. Cameron Sheffield/Larry Asante

Al Bundy 02-09-2010 03:42 PM

I posted in that mock draft thread I dont like the Dez Bryant pick that high for Tampa. I dont like it unless Tampa trades down.

Blick 02-09-2010 03:45 PM

I would take Damian Williams in the 2nd round.

Titty Meat 02-09-2010 04:21 PM

Not a bad mock besides not drafting a Offensive player til round 4.

'Hamas' Jenkins 02-09-2010 04:38 PM

I would most of the thing.

Mr. Laz 02-09-2010 04:46 PM

i would take it right now ... sign me up.

ToxSocks 02-09-2010 04:46 PM

I like it. This guy must be a chiefs fan or something

ChiefsCountry 02-09-2010 06:56 PM

Here is what I would do out of that mock:

1. Eric Berry, S Tennessee
2. Damian Williams, WR USC
2. Jermaine Gresham, TE Oklahoma
3. Jon Asomoah, G Illinois
4. George Selvie, OLB South Florida
5. Danario Alexander, WR Missouri
5. Cam Thomas, NT North Carolina
5. Micah Johnson, ILB Kentucky
6. Charles Scott, RB LSU

Boy he has the Chiefs passing on some elite offensive talent for Spikes and Norwood...

BossChief 02-09-2010 07:01 PM

How did we get a 6th?

OnTheWarpath15 02-09-2010 07:03 PM

Holy shit.

If Damian Williams, Benn and Tate all fell that far, and we took Brandon ****ing Spikes, I'd cry.

Dude I would rather gamble and draft a QB like Jarrett Brown before drafting a ****ing 5'9 CB.

4. George Selvie, OLB South Florida
5. Danario Alexander, WR Missouri
5. Cam Thomas, NT North Carolina
5. Micah Johnson, ILB Kentucky
6. Charles Scott, RB LSU

A injured tight end in the 2nd round? No thanks. The best tight end in the draft will be Aaron Hernadez.

Mecca 02-09-2010 07:38 PM

Gresham is going in the 1st round so that debate is pointless, his knee injury isn't a long term thing.

It's a ****ing tight end dude. Are you telling me tight end is a huge need for a team that doesn't even use a tight end?

DaneMcCloud 02-09-2010 08:17 PM

While that's not the exact draft I'd like to see, I don't think I'd have any complaints if that's the way it works out.

I would ****ing beat off on the Pope's face if that happened.

For the 2nd round? Yea. And this team better learn to use the TE because Matt Cassel isn't going to be threading 20 yard posts.

Gresham would be a nice get in the 2nd... not going to happen but would be a nice pick... Cassel needs a safety valve, and O'Connell is not going to cut it

RustShack 02-09-2010 08:50 PM

1. ILB McLain
2. OG Iupati
2. S Rolle
3. QB Snead
4. C Pouncey
5. NT Robinson
5. WR Mike Williams
5. OLB Cunningham

*covering eyes from flame*

Pope and Cottam are good enough. You should not expect Gonzalez like production from our TE like most teams don't.

Pope and Cottam are below average at best.... Gresham is a good TE and is worth a 2nd.... that said he is probably going to be picked in the 1st

RustShack 02-09-2010 09:01 PM

Cottam was really emerging before he got hurt.

Mecca 02-09-2010 09:12 PM

If teams really thought that there wouldn't be multiple picks on TE's used in the first 2 rounds, I get not using a top 15 pick on one but other than that I don't have issues with it.

RustShack 02-09-2010 09:18 PM

I don't have a problem with getting one either, but I also realize great TE's don't come around very often, that we have far more needs and at more positions of importance than TE, that theres going to be a lot of other good talent in the second round, and we have TWO adequate-good TE's on the roster already.

Mecca 02-09-2010 09:20 PM

I don't really think the Chiefs TE's are adequate...but on that note you really shouldn't be drafting straight for need you should draft the best players.

The Chiefs problem wasn't Tony Gonzalez it was that they thought having Tony Gonzalez meant we never had to get a WR.

RustShack 02-09-2010 09:23 PM

I'll take Benn or Tate instead.

Mecca 02-09-2010 09:25 PM

If you'd rather have Golden Tate than Jermaine Gresham, you have problems.

ChiefsCountry 02-09-2010 09:52 PM

If somehow we got Williams and Gresham to go along with Bowe and Charles, that little bitch Cassel shouldn't be bitching about not having weapons.

Mecca 02-09-2010 09:56 PM

I have a hard time thinking Damian Williams is going to fall, he's a more naturally gifted version of Steve Smith, I think he's a Keenan McCardell type of guy.

DeezNutz 02-09-2010 10:04 PM

It's going to be interesting to see where Snead falls.

I know he struggled like a mother****er this year, but...

BossChief 02-09-2010 10:43 PM

I may have just looked to fast, but did Tony Moeaki go undrafted

Freddie Barnes going with a 7th round comp pick?

That is pure lunacy!

Those guys are WAY low on their positional rankings listings wherever you look Moaki usually comes in at about 20 for TE's and Barnes hovers around 45th at WR.

While I don't value TE all that much, I also would like to get a more durable player with some ability there, because Brodie Cottam can't ever stay healthy.

milkman 02-10-2010 09:28 AM

There's a lot to like about this draft actually, especially since I've been pimping Jason Fox in the third for a while now, but if I were to make some changes, this is whta I would do.

1.Eric Berry.
2.Brandon Spikes.
2.Anthony Dixon
3.Jason Fox
4.George Selvie
5.Jeff Byers
5.John Estes
5.Cam Thomas
6.Jimmy Graham

Haley was seriously missing a tightend last year ... he tried to use the ones we had but the all suck. Why do you think he brought in that guy from Arizona?

Haley will get a tightend somewhere before next season starts imo

i think Arenas is going to be fine in the NFL and he's short

CB Javier Arenas - 5'9" 195 - Alabama

RustShack 02-10-2010 12:49 PM

TE and WR are positions Pioli isn't very good at drafting..

Would love this but I doubt he falls this far. Not a huge Spikes fan at 2a either... would take him in a sec at 2b though.

yeah to get Berry and Spikes would work for me. I think Berry will fall to us at #5 but spikes won't last till our first pick in round 2. #37? He could go late 1st round.

Both players stock is lower than it should be at this time. I think it is from concerns about timed speed. Neither player is a burner, they just do about everything else superbly. Moeaki also has had a couple injuries that may be making teams shy away from him, but in no way should he go undrafted.

Kirk Ferentz even went as far as to say that Moeaki is the best tight end he coached and that is glowing praise due to Dallas Clarks success at the next level.

I think both players will have good careers and should be drafted in the fourth round.

Yeah, I think you're right about Thomas, as I think he probably goes before the 4th round.

I just made selection changes based on the mock here, and what I would do different for the Chiefs with each of the selections.

Ralphy Boy 02-10-2010 03:45 PM

If we got Berry & Spikes, I'd be happy.
Based on how they are projecting the players to fall, I'd take the following in BOLD instead.
5 ) Kansas City Chiefs - S Eric Berry - 5'11" 203 - Tennessee
37 ) Kansas City Chiefs - ILB Brandon Spikes - 6'3" 258 - Florida
51 ) Kansas City Chiefs (from Atlanta) OT Kyle Calloway - 6'6" 322 - Iowa
69 ) Kansas City Chiefs - OT Ciron Black - 6'5" 331 - Louisiana State
104 ) Kansas City Chiefs - OL Matt Tennant - 6'5" 290 - Boston College

136 ) Kansas City Chiefs - WR Danario Alexander - 6'5" 221 - Missouri
143 ) Kansas City Chiefs (from Miami) - NT Cam Thomas - 6'4" 331 - North Carolina
174 ) Kansas City Chiefs - OLB Cameron Sheffield - 6'3" 256 - Troy State

If the draft fell like that and we added those O-lineman, I'd trade a few current lineman to the Rams for their first 7th rounder and get Freddie Barnes. I cannot see any way he lasts past the 5th.

Yes I'd go very heavy on the offensive line, but we'd theoretically be set for several years to come. We'd have to address the NT position prior to the draft and I sincerely hope we do.
RE: Cameron Sheffield, he would have been better served during his college career if he was playing LB instead of DE. He led Romeo's East squad in tackles during the Shrine game. I've seen a couple of sites with him going in the 3rd though so who knows.

Mecca 02-10-2010 10:25 PM

Javier Arenas has severe questions with his speed, being short and slow is not good for that position.

I would argue while Pope & Cottam aren't the best tight ends we did block better when Pope played.

I'd rather have Blount than Dixon to be honest. Also I don't think Selive will be a good NFL player. Cam Thomas in the 5th round would be a steal.

Reaper16 02-11-2010 07:38 AM

That dude has 3 D2 players in the 3rd round. They happen to be my top 3 D2 prospects for this draft class. They must be getting some play on the draft sites. Good.

Easy 6 02-13-2010 06:58 PM

I really dont think another CB is necessary in the 4th, especially another 5'9 guy... but the rest looks groovy.

Safety, LB, RT, G, NT... not bad.

I like Spikes tude. Nose for the ball. Intangibles kind of thing.

6 interceptions in his college career. 4 of them returned for a TD.

Concur. The guy plays mean as hell, and despite everyone talking about his "lack of speed," he's always at the ball before anyone else. He's a very good blitzing MLB as well. Instinctive, strong, nasty and a leader on the field. Sounds like the qualities I'd like in a MLB.

Mecca 02-14-2010 12:46 AM

Just be aware there are numerous LB's that were once thought of as 2nd rounders that ran awful times and struggled to get drafted.

If his speed was better he'd be a mid 1st rounder.

It wouldnt be the end of the world if we stayed w/ Cottam & Pope. Cottam was really turning the corner at the end of the year until he got hurt. Hopefully he's 100% by the season, but he's injury prone obviously.

I wouldn't be opposed to drafting a TE, but hope we can get by another year w/ the guys we have or by signing one in FA like a Ben Watson.
