****Official 2010 NFL Free Agency Thread****
Might as well try to keep it all in one place.
Put news of signings, cuts, etc. here to be discussed. Maybe a mod will sticky this - I'll do my best to keep it updated. Signings: Years/Amount/Guaranteed money Nate Burleson - Detroit - 5 years/$25M/$11M Gary Brackett - Indianapolis - 5 years/$33M/$12M Brandon Manumaleuna - Chicago - ??? |
I'll make this prediction: Pioli's signings will suck.

Free agent LB Karlos Dansby is reportedly on his way to Miami Thursday night. We can't be sure that Dansby is on his way to sign with the Dolphins, but it's an obvious guess. The Dolphins were expected to make Dansby their highest priority, willing to pay the $30 million guaranteed to lock up the best linebacker on the market. |

Funny, I typed this thread up twice and decided not to hit submit because I didn't want to have to update it constantly.
Thanks for doing this! Now onto business: Colts do not tender former first round pick Marlin Jackson making him an ufa. |

Redskins released WR Antwaan Randle El.
This one was a no-brainer. Randle El was due a $4.25M salary in addition to a $6.25M roster bonus. The Redskins are also looking to upgrade at the position, which left Randle El without a role. Though his playmaking days are in the past, the 30-year-old should draw interest on the open market as a quality slot receiver. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/pla...ort=NFL&id=649 |

But it will at least (hopefully) all be in one place. |

Not sure why this is so hard to comprehend. Most elite FA's aren't going to sign their last contract with a shitty team in a small market. |

This guy will surely get a call from the Chiefs:
The Cardinals opted to not extend tenders to WR Jerheme Urban, TE Stephen Spach, FB Justin Green, S Hamza Abdullah, and C Ben Claxton, making them unrestricted free agents. Urban is the biggest name here. The Cards were unimpressed with his play at receiver last year, and he's no longer a big factor on special teams. Other than Spach, the rest of the non-tendered players are annually roster fodder. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/pla...rt=NFL&id=2763 |
Adam_Schefter Detroit weighs in -- Lions released CB Phillip Buchanon.

Adam_Schefter Look for Raiders to release RB Justin Fargas and DT Gerard Warren before they have to pay their roster bonuses in the coming days.

Would Fargas be a nice "big back" ?

The Bucs extended an original pick tender to restricted free agent WR Mark Bradley. Tampa Bay becomes the latest team to take a flier on Bradley, who is now setup for more than $1 million in salary in 2010. The No. 39 overall pick in 2005 out of Oklahoma, Bradley was waived late last season by the receiver-depleted Chiefs. He'll be in the mix for a roster spot in training camp. |
Fargas is constantly injured.
|
Im hoping we add at least a little pepp to our D. A rolle would be nice. But one guy I think would be a mistake is sproles who has now recieved a 1st and 3rd tender. He was supposed to visit the chiefs, rams and redskins. Also NT jamal will. cut, lito shep. and antrel rolle.
|
If the Chiefs go sign Rolle that means this team surely isn't drafting Eric Berry.
|
Warren's not a game changer, and he was horrible draft value, but he could play 0 technique in this defense.

Look like the Seahawks are joining the Peppers sweepstakes. Peppers on one side, Kerney on the other with Jesus behind them. |
there will be a race to over pay the top players until Saturday. On Monday we'll find a few scrubs to sign.
|
Seattle Seahawks unrestricted free agent wide receiver Nate Burleson is expected to draw interest from multiple NFL teams, according to league sources.
National Football Post has learned that Burleson is on the radar of the following teams: the Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Bears, Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/...in-demand.html |
Free agent Nate Burleson is expected to draw interest from at least five teams, possibly more.
Burleson is said to be "on the radar" of the Chiefs, Bears, Ravens, Lions, and Bucs. The Bengals and Redskins could also enter the mix after releasing veteran receivers Thursday. Burleson will also consider a return to Seattle if he doesn't land a big payday. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/pla...rt=NFL&id=1158 |
Burleson is a good player but gets hurt alot. I'd sign him for the right price.

I think they might sign Nate Burleson.

He's probably going to get more than that...

Decent list of tenders from Football Outsiders:

****ing hell....Mankins got a 1st and a 3rd tender.

Per Arrowhead Pride Croyle is coming back
http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2010/3...back#storyjump Speaking on The Opening Drive on Jox 94.5 FM in Birmingham, Alabama, QB Brodie Croyle said he will return to the Kansas City Chiefs next season. http://cdn1.sbnation.com/images/blog...vide.v5547.jpg [I'm] getting ready for the whole free agency thing. I'm under that six-year thing, this uncapped year, that provides....whatever, it's very confusing to me. Basically, I'll be in Kansas City next year, so that's always good. |
The National Football Post is once again coming through with some information on the Kansas City Chiefs. According to Aaron Wilson of NFP, the Chiefs are expected to target Minnesota Vikings running back and soon-to-be free agent Chester Taylor in free agency.
|
Adding Taylor and Burleson would be enough reason for me to renew my Sunday Ticket. Adding Berry in the draft and i might creme myself.
|
We can win 5 games with those guys.
|
Despite the Chargers' reversal on Darren Sproles, the restricted free agent is still expected to be available "for the right deal."
The Chargers had planned to let Sproles walk until they realized they had a shot to extract compensation from another team. Per beat writer Kevin Acee, it won't take "a one and a three" to get the Bolts to part with Sproles. The Chiefs, Redskins, Eagles, and Rams were said to be Sproles' first stops before the tender was announced. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/pla...rt=NFL&id=3221 ****ers. Another reason to hate the Chargers |
Looks like Rolle is negotiating with the Bears.
|
3 hours to go.
|
I got a bad feeling we are going to be pissed off. Rolle and Dansby are probly gone. Peppers, he is gone. Who's left?

I wouldn't mind going after Kevin Walter. I haven't heard anything that would indicate that the Chiefs are even interested in it though.

Redskins Perform Radical Surgery
Not only did Washington Redskins starting OLT Chris Samuels announce his retirement on Thursday, but the team made several roster moves. They released the following players: QB Todd Collins, RBs Ladell Betts and Rock Cartwright, WR Antwaan Randle El, G Randy Thomas, DT Cornelius Griffin, and CB Fred Smoot. RB Marcus Mason, FB Eddie Williams, and DE J.D. Skolnitsky were also waived. While the team announced these players have all been let go, the new league year starts on Friday, so teams are still dealing with a salary cap until 12:00 AM ET. A source said the veterans that were released carried well over $30 million in bonus proration |
I think Betts, Smoot and Randle El would be good signings for the Chiefs.
|
Quote:
Further proof you know jack shit about football. Fred Smoot ****ing sucks. He's awful. Nick probably wrote something about him to get you all giddy. |

Quote:
If you watched any Redskins games, you'd know that. He's a fringe dime back in the NFL. |
This team is ****ed.
|
Quote:
Betts- I'd rather draft someone, don't think he has to much to offer Smoot- I'll pass, wouldn't be surprised if he stayed in Washington for a smaller contract Randle El- I'll pass on him also, slightly better version of Bobby Wade, and thats not saying much. |

I saw that earlier. It would be nice to land Taylor.

Cromartie to the Jets for a 2nd or 3rd rounder.
|
Looks like Dunta Robinson is on his way to Atlanta.
|
Quote:
|
Only issue with Robinson is he isn't quite as good as he once was because he had that major leg injury and even with that injury he wanted Houston to give him top 5 CB money, that dude expects bank.
|
An hour to go.
Reports out of Chicago that they might have Antrel Rolle signed before midnight EST, then know how much they can throw at Peppers. |
The latest on Peppers is that the Redskins are close to getting him.
|
Don't know if this is a repost or not but the Texans put a 1st rd tender on Pollard with hopes of working out a long term deal.
|
The Redskins and Dan Synder are awful for the NFL. Just awful.
Haynesworth and Peppers likely on the same defense. |

This uncapped year pisses me off even more because that ****ing Weasel can get out of all of the bad deals he has given over the years. He's going to have roughly 160 million tied up in 2 guys. |
The only place I saw Peppers to Redskins was rotoworld. Everything else I have come across is saying Bears and Seahawks. Rumors are rumors, I guess time will tell.
|
Quote:
If I was a betting man, I'd bet on Pep in DC. |
It looks like the Redskins are taking the uncapped year as the year to get out of deals more than spend money.
|
Rolle was reportedly at the Heat-Lakers game tonight in Miami.
|
Well the guy is from Miami, it's probably not stunning he'd look to go back home.
|
Chicago supposedly "in a gunfight" for Peppers, are now the favorite.
The Bears also have a visit scheduled for Chester Taylor on Friday morning. |
Quote:
The Bears have to empty their guns now because they have nothing to draft with in April. |
