To Clausen or not to Clausen -- ChiefsPlanet vs. the Chiefs blogosphere.
Is anybody else here terribly active in the Chiefs blogosphere, including but not limited to Arrowhead Pride?
Isn't it amazing how plausible and agreeable the idea of drafting Jimmy Clausen has become on these boards, compared to how viciously unpopular it is around the Chiefs blogosphere? It's amazing how ChiefsPlanet has really developed its own personality distinct from the blogs that write about the Chiefs. It's like night and day most times. |
We're right, obviously.

Ya know, I've never been to any other chiefs blogs or forums aside from this one. I couldn't even tell ya what they look like or where to find them.
Hell, who needs another forum when you have this place? |
All the Chiefs fans at Scott Wright's site thought I was crazy when I suggested we draft Clausen. Everyone outside of CP loves Cassel it seems.

You cant blame his supporting cast for his shitty throws and poor judgment. His throws were consistantly late and off target. He doesn't step up in the pocket....There are so many things to NOT like about him. You can't blame the rest of the team for his shittiness. However, we can blame him for the rest of the team's shittiness. He has SO MUCH shit to fix, it could take years to make him decent. We need to just cut our losses and move on. |
Clausen will be a bust no matter where he goes.

99% of anyone who writes or even talks about football doesn't understand the game. This isn't just a Chiefs thing.

LMAO Seahawk fans want to go O-Line with their first 3 picks in the draft. I shit you not. |

I can see Weis convincing the staff to draft him ... I really can. And pass on a guy who could immediately contribute to our sorry ass defense in the process. Oh, the humanity. FAX |

Most of the other boards make me ****ing nauseous with their idiocy. It's why CP is a ****ing drug that I just can't quit.

We are but a few unique thinkers surrounded by many dumbasses. Sometimes I wonder why I allow myself to be associated with people who are so ****ing reeruned. Then again, I did post a Leaf-Clausen thread, so I have no room to talk.......:) |
Dont even waste your time bringing up a quarterback on the Coalition...
|
I don't know enough to have an opinion on Clausen, but from what I've seen the Planet is a much more realistic group than most fan forums (not just the Chiefs). We have our fair share of anti-homers that keep us from getting too far toward the homer side.
Granted, some would say that we're TOO pessimistic overall, but that just depends on preference. I like the mix of the two extremes so that I can pick a point somewhere in the middle. |

We're not drafting Clausen. The planet is in full reerun mode.

They might as well change the name of this forum from Chiefs Planet to Chiefs Flat Earth Society. As Reaper stated, this is the one percenter crowd. I love the intellectualism that you get from a number of different posters, but with regards to the draft and prospective players, this board goes literally off the deep end more often than not and it's usually based on the myopic, rifle focus philosophy of finally drafting a quarterback in the first round. It's gotten to the point that any quarterback will suffice in order to placate the Drafturbators. Last year it was Sanchez. Even after we signed Cassel. This year it's Clausen. After Cassel had a substantially better year statistically than Sanchez while playing behind an exponentially worse offensive line and had his receivers lead the league in drops. They just don't care as long as it's a quarterback. Our quarterback. Their quarterback. They can't see the forest for the trees. |
Well, it's no worse than the blindingly stupid idea of "improve the offensive line" at the expense of a top 5 pick and the waste of a young talent after only a couple of years.
|
Considering how reeruned the average fan is it's good to be in the 1 percent crowd.

With regards to the to the left tackle position in the draft, there is a reason that they are usually taken high, say, a top five pick. It's the second most important position on the field and is directly responsible for protecting the most important position on the field. To not address such an important position would be blindingly stupid. However, I still think we end up with Berry anyway as both Okung and Bulaga are going to be off the board when we pick at five. |

In most aspects of society, the general consensus is that the fringe elements are the ones who are perceived as being "off kilter." In relation to the majority of the Chiefs fan base, the Planet is the John Birch Society or the Environmental Liberation Front. But that's why I like it - it's edgy. |

However, Okung is going to get picked by Detroit and Bulaga by the Redskins. And all you "Berry or Bust" people better hope that's the case, because if either tackle is still on the board when the Chiefs pick, that's going to be the pick. |
The Iowanian whale is not off the board at #4.

The rest of the 'non-planet' world has been taken over by Truefans.
Let's face it - the Planet tends to be the hardest of the hardcore. The rest of the blogosphere is comprised of casual fans or relative lightweights. Those folks bought the Peterson tripe and have taken it to the bank. |
