Thank you Cole and Sherron...

Good luck in the NBA.

You represented KU well.

58-4ever 03-20-2010 05:57 PM

I don't see Sherron having a stellar career in the NBA.

HC_Chief 03-20-2010 05:57 PM

Sherron won't make an NBA roster. Wish him luck in Europe.

Lex Luthor 03-20-2010 05:58 PM

You had to be nervous all year long that Sherron would have a game in the tournament where he couldn't hit a 3-pointer. It happened.

GoHuge 03-20-2010 06:20 PM

Yes thank you boys! Made my night awesome for spending with all my relatives that are KU grads!! Hope they root for us I like rooted for KU. Would have been great for our state if we would have met in the FF.

Al Bundy 03-20-2010 06:24 PM

I want Collins playing defensive back for my Buccaneers.

Titty Meat 03-20-2010 06:24 PM

banyon 03-20-2010 06:30 PM

Not sure Aldrich is gone, but yeah, whatever you want to say about Sherron, he played his guts out for us.

DeezNutz 03-20-2010 06:32 PM

Good luck in Europe, Collins.

Lex Luthor 03-20-2010 06:33 PM

If Aldrich and Xavier threw everybody a curve and decided to come back next year, guess who would be the overwhelming preseason #1 again?

Hell, this team is so deep that they would probably be the preseason #1 if only one of them comes back.

Lex Luthor 03-20-2010 06:34 PM

And by the way, even though Sherron missed all of his 3-pointers today, he's still one of my favorite players ever. He is tough and he hustles and he drives the lane like a mofo.

Not going to happen.

Titty Meat 03-20-2010 06:35 PM

Does Marcus go pro too?

Pants 03-20-2010 06:36 PM

Neither Sherron nor Cole are coming back. Man, I watched 'Nova lose and I felt really bad because I could put myself in their fans' shoes, didn't think it was actually going to happen. It did. :(

Oh, I know.

KU will be fine next year with the Morris twins, Morningstar, Tayor, and Elijah Johnson. I still don't understand why Elijah Johnson wasn't redshirted, but I think he'll be a fine replacement for Collins.

Braincase 03-20-2010 06:41 PM

Thanks for the years, Sherron. Same goes for Cole if he decides to go.

Why was I thinking Morningstar was a senior?

Because next year will be his 5th year. He redshirted a year.

Probably, but I'd like to be there to thank them when they get back. I get pissed off when people say they didn't "play hard enough" or "give it their all". You think we are disappointed? Think how they feel?

+ Mario Little and Travis Releford. Give Withey another year working out with Danny, and a year of Andrea kicking his butt in the weight room. KU will be fine.

Especially if they add another one-and-done player next year.

For providing the final, and hopefully fully learned, lesson in how utterly pointless it is to invest yourself in the outcomes of boys bouncing balls around.

HC_Chief 03-20-2010 06:54 PM

I wish EJ would have redshirted.

The guy to watch out for next year = Robinson. That kid will be a post dominator.

Morningstar when to s prep school after HS so he could get bigger physically, then he redshirted the 07-08 season.

Sherron will be a 2nd round pick in the draft if he's lucky. He doesn't have size for a PG, defense, or above-average vision. His draft stock relied entirely on the perception that he could run a team and that he had clutch abilities..and both of those things are in major doubt. I expect he'll catch on with some NBA team, though.

Aldrich will a lottery pick. His offensive game isn't polished enough (and maybe never will be), but his great defense is something that NBA teams target out of their centers. I anticipate he'll have a long career as a defensive specialist, but I don't see him ever scoring much more than 10 PPG. He would be crazy to return to school next year (of course, I also said the same thing last year).

Henry is undoubtedly a 1st round pick this year...I would be surprised if he stays. Unless he becomes a better slasher, though, I'm really not sure how much he can do at the NBA level. Maybe a Brandon Rush-type player at best? Still young enough to improve.

Being ranked #1 all season doesn't do much during march now does it? :D

I'd agree with most of this. I too think Sherron will catch on somewhere. Maybe for just one contract though.

Buehler445 03-21-2010 10:36 AM

EDIT: It should be acknowledged that I know nothing about the NBA draft. I thought it was dumb as shit for Wright to declare, but I was wrong.

duncan_idaho 03-21-2010 10:52 AM

I'm glad to see the back of Collins and Aldrich.

Will be interesting to see what Henry and Marcus Morris do. I wouldn't be surprised to see Morris change his mind once the season fades a little and reports of his draft stock start to come out.

Aldrich should have left after last season. His stock will be down a little bit from last year (with the lack of offensive development). He'll still get drafted in the top 15 and have a Joel Pryzbilla-esque career.

It's always my opinion that guys with work to do offensively should go as soon as they are a lottery pick. It still leaves open the "developmental" window and keeps their perceived potential higher. Look at Julian Wright. His offensive game hasn't developed at all in the NBA. Had he stayed two more years at ku with no further offensive development, he would not have been drafted where he was. Because he left early, he got drafted extremely high based on potential (even though he wasn't, isn't, and never will be an NBA level shooter at SF).

The jayhawks will be good again next year, even if Collins, Aldrich, Henry and Marcus Morris all are gone. Probably not top 5 good, but good.. Withey, Robinson and Morris will be a tough rotation to touch up front, and make up for the lack of experience in the backcourt. Robinson and Taylor will have to do some MAJOR growing up...

Collins will be a second-round pick, get cut in training camp, maybe play overseas...

and probably weigh 300 pounds by the time he's 30.

I don't see it as anything to be glad about. Both players made enormous contributions to this team in their seven combined years, and each were a part of a NC team. It's actually quite depressing.

I learned that lesson a couple weeks ago when my mom started having heart problems. Put things in perspective for me. Sucks that they lost and I wish they would have gone further. But, it's just a game - and it's a game that will be played again next year.

Agree. Great post.

Pants 03-22-2010 11:04 AM

I don't think Marcus will be going league this year. He and his brother are inseparable. Another reason is that his game is only going to improve and he is only going to get physically and mentally stronger if he stays. With the Morrii, Whithey and TRob upfront and TyTay, Brady, Reed, EJ and Releford (who has apparently added a smooth stroke to his arsenal of elite slashing skills) in the back, there is a glimmer of hope for next season.

I honestly believe that Travis will be better than X as a SG for this team - he won't be as good from the perimeter, but he'll be a threat. He's not as big, but he can slash almost on par with Langford. Next year's team is going to be a lot of fun to watch, I think. We won't be winning 30, but there won't be all that pressure on the guys either and they'll probably be having a lot more fun. We will probably be twice as athletic, too.

It still makes incredibly sad to know that we wasted all that potential this year. We won't have such a good chance at the NC for a while.

Also, if Self somehow lands Selby, we'll probably be back within the top 8 in pre-season. I have no idea how that would affect the rotation, though, because we would have a shit ton of guards who would all want minutes and justifiably so. I guess Woolridge is going to RS, but other than that... big question mark.

We'll see, I guess.

P.S. I would really hate to see both Knight and Selby go to UK, but it's a possibility.
