Schefter: Steelers Contacting Teams to Trade Big Ben for Top 10 pick
http://twitter.com/adam_schefter
Pittsburgh has begun contacting teams to trade Ben Roethlisberger for a top 10 pick. At least one team considering it. Story far from done. |
Seriously, is it even a mystery who that team is?
|
Rams - Yes
Lions - No Bucs - No Redskins - No Chiefs - Better ****ing not be. Seahawks - No Browns - Yes Raiders - Yes Bills - Yes Jaguars - Maybe |

I would put the top 3 teams that would go after him as:
1. Rams 2. Browns 3. Bills |
What the Steelers should've done was held onto Holmes and traded both of their asses to St.Louis so they could draft Bradford.

I've never really been impressed with Roethlisberger, even though people here really think he's a top 5 qb.
Raiders are probably the team that's interested. Posted via Mobile Device |
ESPN also had the Broncos taking Jimmy Claussen.

I'd love to have Big Ben if I was totally confident he wasn't a rapist. I'm not saying I believe the claims, but once is a coincidence. After the second time, the alarms are going off.

The Bills should be on the phone with the Steelers right now. With Big Ben they have at least a minimal shot at winning a divisional game.
|
Steelers: He's going to be suspended for 4-6 games. We'll let you have him for a top-10 pick.
Suckers: Sweet! |
my guess is, they would want to trade him out of conference..
that leaves Rams and Seahawks... BUt i guess that didnt stop the Eagles.. |

Why does everyone think that the Seahawks are going to trade or draft a QB? They already traded for Whitehurst.

As for "Pig Ben" don't the Raiders already have one gigantic slob playing QB for them? Now they need two of them? Roth is broken...a GM should be fired for trading away a top 10 pick for this arse. |

Well...yes. However, it's been a LONG time since a Notre Dame QB was relevant in the NFL.

this is a no-brainer

He is kind of a fat idiot (motorcycle incident + women issues), but you cannot argue against his production on the field, especially the postseason. :spock: |

Neither have been any worse than Notre Dame post Montana.

Yep....ND sure sucks.

Funny...I don't remember anybody bringing up ND's history in this discussion. I said that's it's been a long time since ND produced a QB that mattered at the NFL level.
You said that it was suck if the Donks had both Brady Quin and Jim Claussen. I disagreed, however, I do think that Claussen has much more NFL potential. |
It's really, really tempting, but he'll be 29 by the time he starts his first full season with us.
Even with that, it's really, really tempting. The key would be whether a half-dozen games off will make him grow up or will make him go even more immature. I'd lean more toward assuming it'll make him grow up, but either way a suspension will have an impact on him, and the downside risk would be bad. 5 years of a top-notch quarterback for a first-round pick probably isn't horrible value, though. If we could make it conditional somehow, I'd probably do it. |

I'd take him but im not sure for the #5, but he is a damn good QB
|
He would be a perfect fit with the Raiders, and I think that's what's going to happen.
|
Let's avoid getting a Franchise QB, God forbid we might actually win something.

I'd trade for him. I imagine Cleveland is the one offering the 7th pick.
If that did happen, I would then trade out of 5 - down to around 7, 8 or 9 and would still be able to get Berry there. Seattle will take Okung if he's still there at 6. |

And so does Michigan. Which just happens to be the team I follow. Looking back at the "long, storied history" doesn't make the last decade go away. And I'm a Chiefs fan. Misery. "There's always next year". |
I'm shocked at the voting. I thought it would be a landslide in favor of getting him.
Plus, he agreed to a new contract in 2008. KC would have him wrapped up for quite a while and wouldn't have to pay out a large signing bonus. |

I would bet that Clausen will be the best of the three. |
Weren't people saying Big Ben was one of the best QB's in the leagu last year?

Oh ya. This. |
I voted "yes" based on ability, but only if I was confident that his rape issues were behind him (and I don't really see how we could be confident about that at this point).
Petro just mentioned his concussion history which I hadn't thought about. That's a concern too. |
What the **** are the Steelers thinking?
|
The guy is a complete idiot and maybe worse so while I want to win I wouldn't want to have to cheer for him to get those wins. He needs to check in with Tiger a the rehab center.

No biggie. No way Ben is coming here, he would fit in like an elephant on an ant hill. |
weird as hell, this draft could get...
talent alone, i'd trade for him....he'd make our offense instantly top notch...he's about as clutch as there is in the nfl but i also personally think he his a scumbag who has most likely forced himself on more than 1 woman.... |

I am projecting my flustration at the messenger instead of the source. :) |
Great QB, too bad he's a prick to women. As talented as he is, there's no room for his antics.
|
Quote:
Would you be willing to trade the #5 pick for him all things considered? If not, and I'm guessing the answer is no, what do you think would be fair compensation at this point? |
Put him in Oakland and he's either arrested again within 6 months, or the Raiders become a dangerous team the next few years.
|
He's young and he's a winner, which is something that's hard to come by, but he's also an idiot off the field. Even if he never raped anyone, he was doing stupid shit. Maybe this suspension will put his head on straight, but I'd be afraid, so I voted no.
However, I would feel much happier trading our pick for him and signing him to a long term contract than investing tons of money in some of the other draft options that have been discussed. |
Quote:
Rape issues behind him? Has he submitted himself to any psychological counseling? Has he worked in any battered women's shelters? What ****ing remorse has this one who sucks the penis shown and what has he done to show that his penchant for molesting women is in his past? Not one ****ing thing, that's what. **** this ****ing dildo. |
Straight up #5 for Ben? No for me. Ben and a swap of #5 for #18... then I would consider it.
|
If the options were "Roethlisberger or Okung/Williams", then I would change my vote to "yes".
Anything but a ****ing offensive tackle. |
I don't like the guy as a person, but we should be considering it. I think he's worth it as a player. Although, we would have more leverage than the #5 straight up, IMO. 4-6 game suspension, they want to unload him, future risk, etc. We'd probably be able to get some picks back.

or we could just draft a QB...

They want a top 10 pick for a guy who is about to be suspended 4-6 games and apparently has a problem with keeping his dick in his pants?
Better call the Raiders, nobody else is that stupid. |

we have a better running back than he's ever had, and he'd make Bowe and Chambers look like real WRs because he is accurate unlike Cassel and since you've obviously never watched him play, he doesn't go down like a pussy the way Cassel does...he does not have a great ol in pittsburgh, he simply extends plays in a way that no other QB in the league is capable of.... you're just a rare breed of fuktard |
The closest KC came to sniffing a Super Bowl in the last 39 years was when they traded for a two time Super Bowl winning QB.

and i can't believe i'm saying this based on how bad we need a QB, but i personally wouldn't trade for him....i'm not making a rapist the face of my franchise.... i didn't like lj for the way he treated women, this is a whole other degree of wrongness |
