I like Kindle and Mays with our 2nd rounders,but I also understand we need a NT as well.

Throw Arrelious Benn and Daryl Washington into that mix.

I want to believe that Cody could be our NT, but he just seems like a bust waiting to happen. My dream 2nd rounders would be Kindle and Tate.

My unresearched vote is Golden Tate. I just havea bad feeling about Cody, and Clausen just makes the Cassel signing a giant waste. I (for one) believe Cassel can improve a lot.

If we draft a quarterback, how about Tony Pike in the 4th or 5th round?
I'd like a linebacker and d-tackle or wideout in round 2.
In round 3 we need to address our o-line,and wideout,tight end or tackle.

thats fine, I can eat crow if Clausen becomes a superstar. Although I don't believe that just because someone is good on one team, doesn't mean they would've been good on another. For instance, Cassel was great on the New England team in 08, and sucked for the chiefs in 09.

Cassel (with a whole new coach, playbook, experience, and new teammates) could be great in 2010, we will find out.

After the entire NFL passed on Jimmy as the 2nd best QB in the draft wouldn't him being the real deal be a hope and a prayer? We already have a 2nd round QB that knows our system and sat behind a HOF QB. I'll take my chances with the guy we've got that has shown he's capable with talent around him. Hell he had as many INT's as he did TD's, but with the guys he had to deal with from the merry-go-round line, to the recieverless recieving corp, to the lack of running game the first half of the season, to the new offensive system being installed two weeks before the season, I think he did all right. Wasn't TrInt -6 his first season here? He had a hell of alot more help around him than Matt did this year and he ended up being not too damn bad. We have bigger needs than QB right now. After this year we'll know what we have with him. No reason make a shit sandwich just because your hungry when dude is owed $14,000,000 and had no help. Try the bologna first.

Interesting. I've noticed that people haven't talked about him much, Mr. penchief. Frankly, I know very little about him - having not yet completed my on-line admission form at Draftabulation U.

He seems to represent value in the eyes of come of the league pundits, though. I've been wondering aloud what the knock is against the guy ... I mean, why he's not receiving any more attention than he is.

I like this choice the best

I'm happier with the start of this draft than I have been with any Chief's draft in years. If I could pick two players in the second round, I'd take OL Saffold and WR Tate.

Saffold has versatility at both the tackle and guard spots, either side, and Tate catches everything thrown his way. If Lilja plays the RG, Saffold can start at the LG position and be Albert's backup, an improvement over Richardson. Tate could play the slot receiver and also contribute as a return man, something much needed by the Chiefs.

And if they go defense, that's okay too but I think they have to give Cassel some help.

I agree that Cassel can improve.... but if Clausen can be that franchise QB that we are looking for... then draft him. I just think that he can't. His physical tools are just okay, and he has Jeff George's personality. Jeff George never made a difference and his ability was off the charts. Clausen's ability is on the charts..... about 9/10's of the way to the top.... good, but not Favre, Manning, Elway, etc.

2a: Kindle
2b: Tate

Do you guys remember that movie where Clint Eastwood played a cowboy guy who was lynched by some badasses but he didn't die? He just got this real nasty scar on his neck from the rope. Then, after he purchased a bandannadanna to cover the scar so he wouldn't look all disfigured and stuff around the womenfolk, he signed on to become a certified lawman and went after the badasses that hanged ... er ... hunged ... er ... hangered ... er ... strung him up? I think that's what's going to happen with Clausen. I mean, after falling into the 2nd round or worse, he's going to be so pissed off that he'll work and play his butt off for whoever takes him and make every attempt to destroy every team that took a pass on him.

Vikes and Bucs both could use QB way worse than Chiefs. Bucs have Josh freaking freeman at QB for crying out loud. Mcoy might be a good fit there for Bucs.
I am hoping they can get rolle in the 3rd or 4th at S, OT like Sam Young in the 5th
the pick should be NT and LB. Although, given how many WR's we had come through here, Tate wouldn't surprise me or upset me one bit.

There seem to be a lot of good options left. My personal preference as of now is:

2a) Sergio Kindle
2b) Sean Lee

Theres a 99% chance one of the 2 will be. What would suck is to see Kindle Clausen and Tate all go before we pick

Rivals.com reported before the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday that former Texas linebacker Sergio Kindle might not be picked until later rounds because of a knee injury he sustained at one point this season. Teams see him as a "serious" medical risk because of his knee, which one team said looks like it could require microfracture surgery.

The injury didn't seem to pose any problems during the BCS national championship game, however, where he posted 2.5 sacks.

Microfracture is a surgery to create cartilage in the knee when it becomes a bone-on-bone situation. It's a surgery athletes tend to have near the end of their careers, not the beginning.

Rivals.com said that Kindle's medical exams showed a series of trauma on the knee that could limit his career.

Athletes have played through injuries such as this one, but it is still something NFL teams need to evaluate before drafting someone.

I'm having second thoughts about Kindel because of his injuries.

2a: Terrence Cody, Jimmy Clausen, Everson Griffen or Golden Tate

OK, depending on whether the Kindle injury is a real concern or not, I'm prepared to substitute a different pass rushing OLB type for him like Koa Misi. I'd also be OK with a WR in this round if he can hang on to the ball.

My ideal:

2A: QB Jimmy Clausen, Notre Dame

2B: DT Terrance Cody, Alabama

Though I don't want Cody with 2A, if that makes any sense. I'd rather take Campbell, Mays, Washington, Griffen in that order with 2A if we don't take Clausen. I think Cody slides to 2b. If we don't take Cody at 2b, I'd love to see Tate slip.
