Chief3188 04-23-2010 05:36 PM

I had no problem with the Mccluster pick unlike some but this one is a head scratcher. He appears to be a good player but CB doesn't make sense when we need a NT and LB's or even some Oline.

I'm probably gonna watch them **** up these next five picks and then emotionally check out.

eazyb81 04-23-2010 05:38 PM

The Arenas pick was absurdly awful. Unbelievable that we took him over so many other areas of need.

Guess we'll wait and get a NT, pass rushing OLB, ILB next year?

RedThat 04-23-2010 05:39 PM

They should of went with Cody or Lee.

boogblaster 04-23-2010 05:40 PM

Im ashamed ... NT LB ... needed ... maybe FA are the Patriotway ......

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-23-2010 05:40 PM

Arenas is a slow corner who is too small to match up with WRs and too short to effectively cover them.

He's a nickel CB/ KR only.

It's obvious that Pioli thinks he has the starters for this team in place, because he sure as **** isn't drafting any.

FD 04-23-2010 05:40 PM

Glad they didn't take Cody.

Special teams tryouts are going to be ridiculous.

Mecca 04-23-2010 05:40 PM

We took a slot WR and a nickel CB that are both midgets and return kicks...

Someone needs to inform Pioli that we are a shitty team that needs a core, not a good team looking for complimentary players.

He was shut down in college but the thing is that Bama had a great line that put pressure on the QB so his tape may be a bit skewed in that regard.

They gotta get at least 1 ****ing lber in this draft. And I sure as hope its round 3.

With McCluster and Arenas together on punt and kick returns, we will cause nightmares for special teams coordinators throughout the NFL!!!

It's ok we will be drafting 1-5 again next year and the "genius" will show you all how smart and cute he is... We have a buffoon once again at GM..Thanks for 40 years of poking my eyeball with sharp objects Chiefs.

AZChief 04-23-2010 05:44 PM

don't shoot the messenger (i'm not thrilled with the pick):

@MrMichael_Smith

Great picks by the Chiefs and then the Niners. Arenas is another guy who can change the scoreboard for KC.

TEX 04-23-2010 05:44 PM

And just why did we trade TG again? :shake:

FloridaMan88 04-23-2010 05:44 PM

A team with gaping holes at multiple starting positions on the roster... with two high second round draft picks in one of the deepest second rounds in recent memory... ends up with a slot WR/return guy and a nickle DB/return guy, two non-starters.

Only the Chiefs.

Maybe that is why they made those picks?

And even if thats the case, its inconceivable to know they blew 2 2nd rounders on special teamers when they could've nabbed starters. Yay to that!

I'll give them a pass on McCluster because he will bring something to the team, but Arenas? fuck no...there is way better talent available. No excuses.

What he brings: Arenas doesn't have the size or speed to develop into a starter on the outside. Still, he boasts the quickness and fluidity of an effective nickel back. There's a lot to like about his willingness to play the run and ability to deliver the big hit. He's also an effective return man with good vision and excellent balance.

Lanning 04-23-2010 05:56 PM

I'm shocked at how negative everyone is being about these two 2nd round picks. We added a ton of speed with these first 3 picks (which I thought was a weakness last year). Berry is going to be a stud, McCluster has the potential to be Darren Sproles 2.0, and Arenas adds depth to the CB position and is also the best return man in this draft. Sure, one of these guys might not pan out, but to me it looks like we added a lot of speed and players that will help out this team next year.

Right after Kiper called him the best returner in the draft he called him slow and "heavy-legged."

Great, we'll have a lot of speed on the bench.

Mecca 04-23-2010 06:03 PM

Baltimore took both 2nd rounders that we should have taken.

HolmeZz 04-23-2010 06:05 PM

McCluster was a very good pick.

Arenas brings some things we need to the table, particularly as a returner, but we reached for where he should've went.

36. Dexter McCluster, RB/WR/KR, Ole Miss
Dexter McCluster is a luxury pick. If some team with few needs wanted to take him in Round 2, that would have been fine. The Chiefs don't have that luxury because of all of their primary needs. (Pick Grade: C)

50. Javier Arenas, CB/KR, Alabama
The Chiefs just drafted a nickel corner and kick returner when they still have issues with quarterback protection and pass rush. Not a good weekend to be a Chiefs fan. (Pick Grade: C)

Walter Football

I agree with their assessment on Arenas but Mccluster is going to be fun to watch.

I don't know what the hell they were thinking drafting Arenas. He is a good player but not what we need for sure.

Chiefnj2 04-23-2010 06:09 PM

I feel sorry for Eric Berry. He deserved, and earned, the chance to play for a quality team, and not a joke like KC.

These two picks are horrible. I guess Weis doesn't give 2 big pinched loaves about his ex-players, and I guess Pioli doesn't believe in drafting potential full time starters.

I hope we go 0-8 and Clark fires everyone midseason.

There are only so many DB's we can get on the field at one time. The Arenas and the Washington pick last year were not necessary. Don't forget we still have Leggett as well.

I find it funny that we get rid of Herm and we are drafting more DB's under Haley than the DB himself Herm ( Can be referred to as Defensive back or Douchebag whichever you prefer )

He was playing in the SEC. He was playing against more football players than grocery baggers but whatever there is no need to argue on this as I agree that it was a waste of a pick.

By that logic the Chiefs path in future draft are clear. Just trade our entire draft for somebody's top five pick and get that one "future star" every year. One player per draft will make us winners very quickly. :shake:

the Talking Can 04-23-2010 06:29 PM

you could have walked through the 2nd round blindfolded and come out with 2 full time starters

we got a midget rb that will have to be taught to be a slot wr
and a midget nickle corner

in terms of value, that is a holocaust

and we still have no run stopper or pass rusher

It just means we'll give up <100 yards through the air per game.....

And over 200 yards on the ground per game.

New FF rule start any RB playing the Chiefs.
