So what's the Chiefs record by Week?
I'm going to post every game here, select the games you think they'll win. We're not allowing ties here - if you don't click a game, that means you think they'll lose it.
Poll to follow. |
Somebody post a schedule. I'm too lazy. I think the Chief's go 7-9 w/out looking at anything though.
|
Almost posted a similar thread.
I'm curious about the minimum number of wins folks are expecting next year. What's the measure of "success" for this franchise in 2010? |
I think this is easily the best way to do this. I'm gonna go through it and then post what I think my final record will be for ease of use, but as a public poll, nobody can say "I figured they'd win X games".
The poll will remain open for 120 days, until roughly mid-August, but I honestly can't see anything changing this a great deal between now and then. |

I'm not smart enough |
Anything less than 7-9 is a failure IMO. A decent team makes the playoffs with that cake schedule.
|
Without seeing a down, I'd wager 9-7, starting the year off 2-3 winning against SD and Houston. From that they win every home game except against Tennessee, with wins on the road in Seattle, St. Louis, and Oakland.
I reserve every mother****ing right to recant this prediction after the preseason. EDIT: And knowing the Haley Chiefs, you can substitute a should win in or two places and replace it with an unlikely loss, combined with an improbable win. (Think losses to Buffalo and Dallas last year, with the wins against Pittsburgh and at Denver) |
I chose 7-9 at first, but then I forgot that Warner no longer plays for ARZ, so that alone makes them a much much different team. Because Leinart sucks. I say 8-8
|
Wow, looking at our schedule. We could even do better than 7-9. Aside from the Colts, that doesn't look like too bad of a schedule. But you never know in the NFL. Somebody will come out of nowhere
|
I went with 7-9, but I have us splitting with each team in the division and there are a few (@ Seattle, vs Arizona, and @ Denver specifically) that we could just as easily win. 8-8 is a real possibility.
|
Chris Johnson will break the NFL single-game rushing record in Week 16.

Too bad we have terrible linebackers.

My wins are
49ers Jax Buffalo Denver @ Rams Oakland |

It should be interesting to see the drafturbators pleasure themselves while we ravage Sam Bradford in St. Louis.
|
Alright, I've got them going 7-9.
My wins: I think they catch the Chargers in your standard 'Norv' game where he forgets the season started and doesn't show up for a month. Combine that with the new Arrowhead and a return to prime-time and I think we steal week 1. @ Browns -- pretty awful club and Mangini's still a joke. vs. Buffalo -- God help us if they find a QB, but ol' Chan Gailey made Thigpen look passable, so who knows what they'll have by then?. If this game is in Buffalo, I think we lose. vs. Arizona -- Matt Lienart is the lefthanded Matt Cassel. vs. Denver -- we always get one v. Denver and they're not going to be pleased about that loss at Invesco last season. I think we take the home game this year; that team's been truly guted. @ St. Louis -- honestly, I had this as a loss until I figured I'd come off as a pessimistic jackass for it. Stephen Jackson will plunger-**** this defense. With Alex Barron gone and Smith having a year under his belt, the Rams had a decent interior line and Bradford may be dangerous by then. With the addition of Gilyard alongside Avery, their WRs will be much improved. Murphy was a nice pick, as was Selvie. Spags will have that defense breathing fire this season, IMO. This looks like one of those 'Cleveland' losses that just pisses me off to no end because we should've won it going away. But I just can't bring myself to say we'll lose it. vs. Oakland -- Jason Campbell makes the Raiders better than us...Tom Cable and crew possibly makes them worse. We'll get them at home this season. |
I have wins at:
browns jax buffalo denver arizona seattle oak stl so ill go with 8, more or less. If we underachieve, ill go 6. Overachieve, 10 wins. Anything less than the best is a felony. |

If this is what passes as a win these days....!@#$. |
My only disclaimer to this poll is that I've always been optimistic to a fault.
|
The only one I'm confident we can win is vs STL. S'pose we'll pick up a few more wins somewhere on our way to another 4-12 campaign.
|
If Spiller is whom we think he is, the Buffalo game becomes scary.
Honestly, I look at these teams and all I think about is their RBs. Marginal backs (not named Harrison): we have a chance. Legit backs: we're in deep water. |
"Bradford may be dangerous"
I think he's going to have a terrible rookie season. Hamas will spooge all the way to the moon when Berry picks him. |

That gives us two road wins - CLE, STL Home wins - OAK, DEN, JAX/BUF (pick one). 5-11. They might steal one in Denver, or the stars might align in Week 1. |

I don't see him being terrible as much as I see him being completely benign. I just can't imagine Spags putting much of a load on the guy and he's not the kind of space-cadet that guys like Leaf and JaMarcus Russel were. It takes a combination of inexperience, arrogance, and half-witted ****kery to be truly awful as a rookie QB. The inexperience means you'll struggle, the arrogance means you'll keep doing the same stupid shit because you're certain you're God's gift to the NFL and the rest of the league needs to just stop picking you off so you can prove it, and the half-witted ****ery means you simply lack the intellectual capacity to improve your game. Bradford's just going to have a steep learning curve. I think he'll just be fairly conservative and ultimately a non-entity. The kid has far too good a head on his shoulders to be a truly awful QB, IMO. |
Weeks 2, 7, 8, 10, 15, 17.
6-10. Success. |
7-9.
We'll win four of the last 6, and True Fans everywhere will be giddy. Honestly, who knows...I hope we're a legitimate ascending team at the end of the season. |
Interesting how many people think we can beat teams with Spiller and Pocket Hercules.
|
7-9
We upset the Chargers in game 1, homers go crazy and there is talk of super bowl. We finish a lackluster 7-9... At least we swept the Gayders. That is how I see in April, before Camp really begins. PS - how to see poll results, like who voted for what? |

I know, pit and denver last year gives the true fan in me hope we could win any one of these games. But I also know we crapped our pants more than once and lost games that were in our grasp. I'm interested in seeing more, footage from camp, preseason. I have high hopes as always. but have a hard time making predictions on how the season will go. |
Looks like 6 games are getting more than 50% of the vote.
That's probably pretty accurate, which will be a huge underachievement considering this schedule. If our run defense doesn't magically improve over last year, six wins might be a stretch considering even the shitty teams we play have solid RB's. |
6-10
|
It seems like every year the Chiefs get raped with the schedules and the quality of the opponents.
This year though, it is a VERY favorable schedule. If you look at November and December, only our road game to Denver has the real possibility of having blistering cold and inclement weather. The rest of those road games are in fair weather cities and domes. Our road games are no more than two weeks at a time, unlike last year when we had a three or four game stretch on the road. (If I remember correctly). To make predictions now though is like throwing darts with a blindfold. We have new coordinators and some new bodies on the field. I believe we'll be an improved team and we won't be as bad on defense as some people feel so strongly about. If we can keep games close, anything can happen. |
Somebody pick us to beat Indy...
We almost beat them last time we played, and if Peyton dies in a Motorcycle accident we should win easily. |

less than a year ago from when we play the Browns again we got absolutely smoked by TWO GUYS. We did nothing to improve that in the offseason so far, so how do you people possibly expect we win that game? The Browns are going to do the exact same thing to us...again.
|
8-8, 3 road wins.

If we can't even expect them to beat the damn Browns in late April, then why bother hanging around? But the point has been made, and it's an accurate one, that the Chiefs tend to save their absolute worst play for the worst teams, so it's certainly possible that they yack up that game as well. |
I prolly homered the poll .. pickin 11 wins id settle for 8 or 9 ...
|
You beat the Browns, Jaguars, Buffalo, St Louis, and the Raiders at home.
|
11-5.

2-14

I don't really give a large rat's ass how you think the Chiefs will do this season. |
Early to be predicting this, but I went 7-9, which feels a bit optimistic right now. I just have a hard time believing they won't win more than 6 this year, even though a game-by-game look has me questioning that...
@Cle Jax Buf @Sea Den @StL Oak |
2010: 9-7.
Butts in the seats in 2011. (That's all it got.) |
Bump - after the third pre-season game, anyone wish to change their predictions?
The poll has closed, but feel free to write in amendments. |

The one team we face who's running game doesn't worry me has the QBOTFC* who can carve us up without running the ball. *QB Of The ****ing Century. |
I'm sticking with 6 wins, but I'm not sure how I got KC beating SF and not STL, so I'll swap those as I had to have been drunk.

Jerome Harrison had a QB that threw for under 100 yards, and he still put up almost 300 on us. What are people expecting from Steven Jackson? The only run offense I'm confident we can stop is Indy's, and they don't need to run the ball. But hey, we didn't need a NT or ILB's. |
Huh, obviously my outlook has improved a bit, I only picked them to win one in this poll.
