Oh cool, so I will actually get to use the tickets I bought.

OnTheWarpath15 06-10-2010 09:29 PM

That's cutting it DAMN close.

Basically less than an hour to clear the lot.

Royals are done by 4:30 or 5:00.

Chiefs parking opens 3.5 hours prior to the game. 9:00 start means gates open at 5:30.

There's no ****ing way that's going to work, even if only 10k show up that day.

Hell, what happens if the game goes to extra innings?

Yeah I was figuring they'd move it back to noon. I hope they can figure out some way that those who are attending both games don't have to leave the lot, that is going to completely suck to have to do that.

Bearcat 06-10-2010 09:36 PM

IIRC, last time they did that, they told everyone who went to both games they would have to leave and come back in... I'm sure that was successful.

I have absolutely no facts or experience to back this up, but my guess would be that parking for the Chiefs game will open much closer to game time than usual. It's going to be, as we all know, an unusually late kickoff. I think less time for fan drinking pre-game will be just fine with the Chiefs.

Mr. Arrowhead 06-10-2010 09:50 PM

why 2:10, whats wrong with playing it safe and doing a 12:10 start

If the ****ing Royals are the reason that tailgating gets shortened for the first MNF game at Arrowhead in over a half-decade, then **** them right in the ****ing ear.

Moving the game to noon is a potential problem as it is, an extra inning game causes all sorts of headaches.

Move the game to the open date on Thursday, make it a day game, and don't sweat it.

The Royals are playing Cleveland at home over the weekend, so it doesn't affect them.

The A's would get a day off after traveling in from Oakland after a Sunday afternoon start(and lose two hours in the process traveling) and would only have to travel to Minnesota after the game on Thursday night for a Friday night game. Instead, they'll have a home game Sunday that starts at 3:00pm KC time - will last until 6:00pm KC time - maybe if they are lucky, they get to the charter by 8:00PM KC time - then have a 4 hour flight that gets them into town around midnight, and maybe in bed by 1:00am. Then get to play a day game after traveling two time zones. I'd be pitching a bitch if I were Oakland.

Of course, that's WAY too easy of a solution.

Let's do it the way that has the potential for absolute ****ing disaster.

-King- 06-10-2010 09:57 PM

Step 1) Go to Royals game
Step 2) Go to Chiefs game
Step 3) ????

This is going to be a logistical nightmare. People leaving, people coming, A's bus leaving, Chargers' bus coming. Cutting it too close.

It's ridiculous that they make people leave and then come back. Talk about a traffic nightmare. They need to close off the far lots for Chiefs fans that are going to both games to use.

Then people like myself have to park on a side of Arrowhead we want no part of.

Let me explain.

I've done both, and I can tell you with absolute certainty that it takes longer to get out of the A, B, C, etc lots that it does the G/H/Grass lots on the other side.

I park in Phil's old spot, right under the sign every time I'm up there, and 99% of the time, within 10 minutes of getting to my car, I'm out of the complex, down 40 Highway and waiting at the light to turn left onto I-70 east for the trip home.

The other side?

Never less than an hour. And it's a MUCH shorter distance.

Plus our seats are on the G/H side of Arrowhead, and my favorite Texan and his tailgating spot is right there as well.

I always park in the G,H or N lots and am always out of the lot within minutes of getting in my car. I just can't see rushing out of the Royals game to drive out just to turn around and come back in all because the absolutely have to charge you twice to park. Why not just give people some sort of parking pass that indicates you already paid for parking for both games and park in an assigned lot just for both games.

I'd really like to go to the Royals game, I haven't been to the K in several years.

But I'm not buying tickets and then either:

a) Getting ****ed because the dumbshits planning this abortion realize they ****ed up, and move the game to Thursday, leaving an out-of-towner ****ed;

b) Finding out that they do something similar to your plan - like a $30 distinguishable pass that allows parking for both - only to find out they make you park (and stay parked) on the Blue Ridge Cutoff side - gates 1, 2 or 3.

Bugeater 06-10-2010 10:50 PM

**** that, I'll leave and come back before I get told where to park. And I bought tickets in the upper deck, they were only $5 apiece, so it's not a big loss if they did end up moving the game to another day.

You're 3.5 hours from home? If you're not staying the night in KC after the game, then you're looking at getting home at 4AM at the earliest. Is an hour really going to make or break you?

luv 06-10-2010 10:53 PM

IMO, MNF is a big deal, along with it being the home opener in the newly reno'd stadium. Why would they limit tailgating time? Makes no sense. I know the out-of-towners want the Monday afternoon game, but it makes more sense to move it to Thursday.

No one said for sure they're going to shorten the tailgating time, that was just one person speculating. And shush anyway, I want to go to both games.

Haven't decided yet.

Probably depends on what the other out-of-towners are doing.

I've made some post-game suggestions regarding sharing hotel rooms at Ameristar, but we haven't made any concrete plans.

And it's not just the time, I absolutely HATE sitting in traffic.

Especially when I know that I wouldn't be had I taken a different route, or in this case, parked where the **** I wanted to. :D

I know. I didn't mean for my post to make it sound like that's what they were doing. I was just questioning the suggestion.

I have a group of Canadians wanting me to stay for Tuesday's Royals game, but that would require me missing two nights of class instead of just one. If I go to a Royals game, I'd want it to be on Monday.

Bugeater 06-10-2010 11:00 PM

I'd just like to know the reasoning for going with 2pm instead of noon. That makes no damn sense at all.

I know I will regret saying this on here, but oh well. If you guys end up splitting a room or two, would you keep me in mind? No way I'm driving home after the game that night. I will have my little air mattress that I'll be using at Joe's, so I could just make camp in a corner of a room.

Jeez, there's apparently no tickets sold for this game.

2 seats, Row U, Section 130 - field level basically right behind the plate. (just up 1st base line)

Can anyone tell me what the last few rows are in the upper deck?

FF?

NN?

QQ?

(I'm just throwing out randoms, I've never sat anywhere but field level.)

It wasn't successful because I was there, the Royals played the Twins and it was like 105 in the shade. After the baseball game we jumped in the Yukon and headed across the lot to our usual tailgate spot for the Chiefs pre-season game and never encountered a problem.

Of course they are. How do you think people get into Sunday night football during the last 8 weeks of the season? There is no way they are going to take your money and then tell you to buy another ticket for the same game.

I still haven't heard anything. The article said "Adjusted parking details for Sept. 13 will be announced soon". They must have a different definition of 'soon' than I do.

I'm guessing what OWP said will probably happen, they'll have a designated area for all-day people to park.

Keep in mind that you'll likely have to buy a ticket to another game to get a single ticket for MNF.

gblowfish 07-06-2010 10:54 AM

Too bad we're not opening against the Raiders. That way we could kick both Oakland teams in the ass on the same day.

I'll bet they make everybody leave and come back in, so they can charge for parking twice.

There's lots of logistical problems too, like I have a Chiefs parking pass for a Red Lot, but no parking pass for the Royals, so if they park me in a non-red lot, I'd have to move my car.

Also, they would probably only expect about 15,000 people for a Monday daytime Royals game, so they figure making 15,000 people move in advance of the 70,000 to come later is not a big deal. The problem is, if the Royals game isn't over until 4:30 or 5pm, you have Chiefs traffic arriving, PLUS standard Monday rush hour, PLUS interstate construction at I-435 and I-70....it's going to be a major cluster f**K. Might be best to just park at a nearby hotel, take a shuttle to the Royals game, then just hang out between games, then take the shuttle back after the Chiefs game.

It'll be interesting to see what they work out.

There will be 12,000 fans at the Royals v A's game. By 4:30, there will be less than 6,000 fans. I don't see how this will be a problem.........

Keep in mind that you'll likely have to buy a ticket to another game to get a single ticket for MNF.

Interesting, i'll keep that in mind. I saw seasn tickets for almost $300 so ill have to compare prices. I just dont think id make it to every game

Well that's what they did for the group purchase we did for the bash, so I'm guessing single ticket sales won't be any different.

they better not screw up the tailgating for the Chiefs game if their brilliant plan for making a couple bucks on parking doesn't work.

they SAY the parking lot opens 3 or 3.5 hours before gametime, but I've gone in at least 4 hours before with no problem, and had hoped to do the same for MNF.

Also, they would probably only expect about 15,000 people for a Monday daytime Royals game

Who are you kidding? I expect the Royals to be right in the middle of the the playoff hunt!

I bet the Royals will draw a big number just by the people who want to see both games. I wouldn't be suprised to see them sell some combo parking pass for like 40 bucks for those who are going to stay for both games.

Either way, I am betting that they **** this up big time.

I wouldn't have an issue with this AT ALL. Royals parking is $10, Chiefs $22 for the cash lot....an extra $8 to not have to dick with the traffic would be great. AND if I say F*** it because the Royals are down 7 in the 4th inning I can go to the truck and drink.

I don't see how a combo pass would work, they'd have to check every single car in the parking lot and somehow make sure that those that don't have them leave. But yeah, it's going to be a cluster**** no matter what they do.

I usually come in gate 5 for Chiefs games. I'll just go park my car in line, walk over to the Royals game, and then walk back before the gates open for the Chiefs game. :D

I doubt either team is looking to split parking fees. There will be two costs; one for each game. The big issue is "general" parking for the Royals is different than "general" parking for the Chiefs. Cars will have to be moved between games.

Chiefs game doesnt start till 9pm, parking lots open 3 hours before. So they should have plenty of time to clear the parking lot after the Royals game.

Its baseball, who knows, it will be a gigantic mess if it goes into extra innings.
