Big Storm in KC area...

Man, we were at a 9:15 ballgame for my son today... it was sunny... hot... maybe 85 degrees.

We see the storm front moving in... and then boom. the temperature dropped to like 60 degrees... got REALLY cold, like the AC was on.

And the tornado sirens went off... and everyone took off and scattered like Roaches when the lights are turned on.

I don't know if this is Katie Horner panties wet, type of storm... but it scared the shit out of my kids, when the temp dropped like that.

Look at this wall cloud!!

This is from the i.Pad Weatherbug app.

Was this whole thread an excuse to tell us you bought an i.Pad?

No. I didn't BUY an i.Pad. A client bought it for me. :D

The point is that the storm front rolling in was crazy. I've never felt the temperature dropped 30 degrees before in 10 seconds. It was weird.

I was giving ya shit.

That is pretty crazy though. Kansas City has the most ridiculous weather ever. It can change so fast around here.

I remember one time it was the dead middle of summer and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. And it started raining. Without clouds. And it was hot and sunny. It was the craziest thing ever. I even looked at the sidewalk and there were rain drops landing. I still wonder about that sometimes.

Frazod 06-12-2010 10:26 AM

It's been storming like hell up here all morning, too. The weather's supposed to suck all weekend.

teedubya 06-12-2010 10:29 AM

When the temp dropped 30 degrees in a matter of seconds. All of the kids started freaking out, all scared. My little 4 yo girl started crying all scared. It was madness.

I'm waiting for the craziness to pass, as I have to go pick up my wife from her week of church camp counseling about 150 miles away, and I'm not wanting to drive in this shit.

Dylan 06-12-2010 10:30 AM

ya'll be careful! :(

memyselfI 06-12-2010 10:51 AM

This could potentially be a very bad flooding week for the KC area. It's rained an insane amount the past couple of hours and it's supposed to rain all next week.

The power just better not go off today!!!!

Demonpenz 06-12-2010 10:55 AM

What a bunch of pusses , move to the Texas panhandle and then talk. We have to wear helments here because the weather is so ****ed up. I watched a tornado go right over my house three weeks ago.

We're about to get blasted here in downtown Chicago. The weather radar looks like the motion tracker from Aliens. :D

Frazod 06-18-2010 03:23 PM

Holy shit - my building is swaying and making creaking noises I've never heard before in over 10 years (I'm on the 31st floor). Hail is hitting the windows. It is almost completely black outside.

Trippy.

I just checked that out on weather.com... DAMN!! You know it's going to be bad when the weather channel posts not 1, but 2 Severe Thunderstorm Warnings.

Be safe, Fraz!

It went through here a little bit ago, and looked more like a potential tornado than anything else. High winds and rain, no hail though, thankfully.

Reports of damage from all over the area. Windows have been blown out of the upper floors of Willis (formerly Sears) tower.

We generally get weakened versions of whatever Missouri/Kansas got yesterday. This sure didn't seem very weakened, though.

The worst seems to have passed, though. The building isn't moving anymore.

It scared the crap out of the wife. She actually went down in the basement during the worst of it. No damage, though.

DeezNutz 06-18-2010 03:55 PM

Ironically, the storm originated in Texas.
