Hopefully we can carry some of the momentum over that we had Sunday. That was a great game.

Chiefspants 06-15-2010 12:13 PM

(1-7, 3.82 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 0.682 Opp. OPS)

This line looks awfully familiar.

It is also weird. With that Opposing OPS, you'd expect a better WHIP. Without looking it up first, I'm gonna guess this guy walks a lot of guys.

teedubya 06-15-2010 01:55 PM

OMG we are playing someone with a WORSE record than us? Wow.

Actually, no.

I picked up Paulino in a fantasy league a week or so ago. He's been pitching very well the last month after a rocky start.

Yeah, you are right. He walks a little more often than the aces of his team, but he's still got a decent ratio.

Last 4 starts in particular, 30 IP, 23 Ks, 11 BBs, 1.50 ERA, 1.167 WHIP

And now I've just set him up for a Royal ass-kicking.

Sorry, but this fantasy team has a better chance of competing in 2010 than the Royals do. Win tomorrow night, KC. :D

gblowfish 06-15-2010 03:49 PM

Cubs are saying they'd part with Fukudome. Should we trade Farnsworth for him?
Fukudome is my homie! Whaddya bet the Royals are one of those 15 "blocked" teams?

http://tinyurl.com/286quft
FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal reports that the Cubs have made outfielder Kosuke Fukudome available for trade.
A move, though, seems highly unlikely. Fukudome is owed $13 million this year, $13.5 million in 2011, and has hit just .261/.367/.408 in his two-plus seasons with the Cubs. He also has a no-trade clause and is able to block a deal to 15 of baseball's 30 major league teams.

DeezNutz 06-15-2010 03:51 PM

His OBP is far too high for us to consider at that price.

okiedokieokoye 06-15-2010 03:53 PM

pass. We got Alex Gordon!

Lineups out, Aviles at second today. Has he been playing 2B a lot lately?

I think he is more fit than SS but make they are taking it cautious with him cause of his shoulder and the throwing distance from SS

Someone needs to kneecap Kendall. I'm sick of seeing him starting every ****ing game. He is 1-26 in his last 26 AB's. Meanwhile Pena's last AB he hit a double. And we need to get Betemit some playing time as well. That guy can hit, or so it seems. 4-8 with 2 doubles and 2 HR's.

Check out Rany's latest update. He discusses the Kendall situation.

BWillie 06-15-2010 05:48 PM

The descent of Kendall to the Berroa meter is continuing....as I expected. Yuni's descent will start soon.

Reaper16 06-15-2010 05:56 PM

Splitt in the booth all three games against the Astros. He sounds good so far in the pregame.

That was a good article. Especially the part about DDJ. I really, really don't see the need for this team to trade him. He is a person this team can use to build on. If you trade away your best player you just start all over again, imo. He is more than deserving of the higher contracts we have shelled out for lesser players, so there should be no issues about paying him. And as Rany says, if we did trade DDJ it would more than likely hurt the team. That tells me trading him is stupid.

SPATCH 06-15-2010 06:00 PM

First game I get to watch this year. The Astros announcers kind of blow (worse the LeFevre believe it or not). I watch them every once in while because I need to get my baseball fix. They have been playing some ugly baseball this season... not like I'm not used to that, though.

He does sound better than his last time out but it still hurts to hear him like this

alnorth 06-15-2010 06:10 PM

1st inning

Top 1st

Bourn walks
Keppinger grounds into a 5-4-3 double play, Bourn out at second
Berkman grounds out to pitcher

0 runs, 0 hits

Bottom 1st

Podsednik hits an infield single to shortstop
Kendall flies out to center
DeJesus singles to center, Podsednik to second
Butler singles to left, DeJesus to second, Podsednik scores
Guillen strikes out (swinging)
Callaspo flies out to left

1 run, 3 hits

alnorth 06-15-2010 06:18 PM

Well, this is odd and worrying.

Mike Montgomery is done today after 3 2/3 innings. Only 56 pitches, 1 walk, 2 hits and 1 run given up, seemed to be doing fine in a tie game. No idea why he got pulled so early, hopefully he's OK.

Sure-Oz 06-15-2010 06:26 PM

DDJ future Royal HOF'er?

I hate watching Kendall bat 2nd...

Way to go Butler!

Mike Montgomery working on a limited pitch count goes 3.2 IP, 2 H, R, BB, 3 K on 56 pitches

cool.

I might lag behind a bit on the updates, gotta finish laundry. Hopefully the 2nd inning is dull with nothing interesting to miss.

edit: looks like its not ready yet, so 3rd or 4th inning.

I agree with Rany, DDJ is rather underrated. I'd guess primarily due to his past injuries. But the guy is a good, solid baseball player and we need to keep him on this team. If we are truly trying to build a team that can compete why would you trade him and what would you trade him for? And more over, how could you trade him without hurting the team?

I do not want to see him traded for guys we hope will be ready 3-5 years from now. That would just be stupid.

Mr. Arrowhead 06-15-2010 06:32 PM

why the hell did the royals give out Piss colored T-Shirts

Mr. Arrowhead 06-15-2010 06:33 PM

Pence walks
Feliz doubles to left, Pence scores
Michaels grounds out to second, Feliz to third

Aviles to second on an Error by P
Maier doubles to center, Aviles scores
Maier to third on a Passed Ball

He's underrated b/c he's been perceived by fans (and by old-timers, according to Petro) as being soft. And this perception has been fact.

That said, he's still a solid player, and I agree that the Royals better get much in return if they're looking to move him.

Either get big-time return, or sign the dude to an extension.

petegz28 06-15-2010 06:46 PM

good hit, Maier

DeezNutz 06-15-2010 06:47 PM

No bullshit. He referenced the "tag" bit in an interview with Petro.

LMAO

He's also Derek Jeter

alnorth 06-15-2010 06:56 PM

1 of those runs is unearned because of the passed ball. (Maier would not have scored)

I'm good with that.

In all seriousness, I watched some of the Super Regional against UCLA to see the kid play, and he looks like he could be solid. Also, everyone kept referencing how quickly he'll make it to the league.

I expect to see him next fall, assuming he's signed relatively soon.

alnorth 06-15-2010 06:59 PM

3rd inning

Top 3rd

Manzella pops out to second
Bourn reaches on an Error by 2B
Keppinger strikes out (swinging) into a double play, Bourn called out at second (batter interference on throw during steal attempt)

Bottom 3rd

DeJesus hits an infield single to second
Butler grounds into a 5-4-3 double play, DeJesus out at second
Guillen grounds out to first 3-1

0 runs, 1 hit

petegz28 06-15-2010 06:59 PM

JFC, Avilles and Butler = shitty defense
