Denver's injury parade continues on Friday

Found this, and the Hit's continue:

The Denver Broncos’ rash of training camp injuries continued Friday.

The Denver Post is reporting that linebacker Jarvis Moss fractured his hand and will likely be out for two weeks. Moss stepped into the starting lineup after star pass-rusher Elvis Dumervil tore his pectoral muscle. Dumervil, who led the NFL with 17 sacks last season, is expected to be out for four months.

Moss, a very unproductive 2007 first-round draft pick, was given the chance to be the starter in Dumervil’s absence. Now this. Moss will get the chance to be ready for the regular season, however, he is a player who needs all the repetitions he can get with the first team.

Robert Ayers, a first-round pick in 2009, will now be Denver’s top pass-rusher. He was not impressive as a rookie.

Guard Chris Kuper and newly signed running back LenDale White also left practice. Kuper has an ankle injury and he is expected to miss some time. White’s situation is unknown.

Denver is the most-injured team in the NFL. Star left tackle Ryan Clady is out with a knee injury and he hopes to return in September. Top running backs Knowshon Moreno (hamstring) and Correll Buckhalter (back) were both hurt Sunday. They both should return this month.

well, at least this way Denver fans have a built-in excuse for when the season is in the toilet.

Sounds like Denver hasn't been rocking the conditioning too hard. Players get fragile this way.

Just another reason why I loved the 100% participation for OTA's. **** Page, also.

Denver is doing nothing different this offseason than they did last year when we were football's healthiest team.

Furthermore, they had better do something different if you hope to be successful. Your season had an epic collapse....

Whoremo.

I mean losing Dumervil for dungver now is like the Chiefs losing DT close to his prime...give me a break...the donks "D" is done this year...

Marcellus 08-06-2010 06:01 PM

When I read shit like this I just cross my fingers and pray we stay healthy.

Teams that have been bad just don't have the talent leeway to have many injuries.

Eh, there are some types of injuries that are conditioning-related. A fractured hand isn't one of them. This is probably mostly just a case of bad luck.

this got me thinking. what if, and it's a BIG what if, devner actually has the worst team (partially to injuries, partially to a giant headed turd HC) in football.
they get the number 1 pick. who is arguably the qb (looker?)devner doesn't need a qb, as they have the "savior". what do they do?
sure it's early to think about the draft and whatnot, but what an interesting thought.

CoMoChief 08-06-2010 07:33 PM

dont worry they drafted Tebow in the first rd.

ROFL I still LMAO at that. Other than drafting Berry that was my favorite part of the draft. Tebow can sniff my god damn farts.

Well, and what if McDaniels is fired...and some new person gets to reset the whole thing. And it's Carl Peterson, and he drafts a QB for the first time in his life. And everything falls into place and Denver wins 10 SBs under Carl Peterson.

Cutler
Moreno
Marshall
Dumervil
Clady
Mike Nolan

Those were pretty much the reasons you guys had to cheer for and all of them have serious issues that are gonna keep them from the field.

The first-team offense was lined up against the first-team defense, and Kyle Orton was barking out signals when McDaniels gave the truck the signal.

The bells came on, playing that very familiar sound of summer, and the truck drove on the field. As players looked around to see what was happening, McDaniels blew his whistle and yelled, “Ice Cream!”

Players rushed to the truck, none faster than defensive end Ryan McBean and offensive tackle D’Anthony Batiste, who actually skipped.

ESPN: Broncos cancel Sunday practice

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The Denver Broncos ensured themselves that they wouldn't lose another player to injury Sunday by canceling their practice. Their next workout isn't until Tuesday.

The Broncos have been hit by more than a dozen injuries so far, most notably Elvis Dumervil's torn chest muscle that's expected to sideline him for the season. Top draft pick Demaryius Thomas apparently injured his left foot Saturday night -- the same one he broke in predraft workouts -- and underwent further medical tests Sunday.

KCrockaholic 08-08-2010 03:44 PM

That tells me, his foot has not healed.

and wouldn't you know it...stolen from orangemane :)

Quote:

Fox 31s Josina Anderson reports that Broncos WR Eric Decker suffered a left foot sprain, not left ankle sprain like previously speculated.

Anderson also reports that a pre-MRI detected evidence of a previously existing high ankle sprain. In short, when Decker went down yesterday doctors found both a pre-existing high ankle sprain in addition to a left foot sprain. What does this all mean? If the MRI confirms aggravation of Decker's previous Lisfranc fracture he'll be looking at missing extended time. Any way you cut it things don't look good for Decker.

-----------------------------

Fox 31 Denver's Josina Anderson reports that Demaryius Thomas' left foot injury is an aggravation of his pre-Combine fracture.

Sunday's tests, including a CT scan, are expected to determine whether the soreness is from "old or new damage, a combination of both, and to what extent." One source tells Anderson the initial belief is that "it's not that serious." Thomas reportedly struggled early in camp, lacking confidence in his foot. The past two days, however, he had been coming on strong, highlighted by a pair of TD catches just prior to the re-injury.

Fargas Joins Broncos
By Gabe Hiatt

Posted 2 hours ago

aaOn Wednesday the Broncos added former Raiders running back Justin Fargas to the roster.

The Denver Broncos on Wednesday morning officially signed free-agent running back Justin Fargas.

Fargas spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Oakland Raiders, rushing for 1,009 yards and four touchdowns as recently as 2007. The University of Southern California product has a career 4.1 yards-per-carry average.

The Raiders drafted Fargas in the third round (96th overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft from the University of Southern California.

The former division rival torched the Broncos during a mid-season contest in 2007, tallying 33 carries for 146 yards and a score in a Raiders victory. In 2008, Fargas totaled 204 yards rushing in two games versus Denver.

At 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds, Fargas adds his physical running style to the Broncos backfield.

Tells me Lenwhale is not the answer, or Buckhalters back is more serious.

Ayers hurts arm
By Mike Klis

Second-year outside linebacker Robert Ayers left the practice field Wednesday with an apparent injury to his left elbow/arm.

Ayers was essentially credited with two sacks during the team’s scrimmage Saturday night, although defensive players were not allowed to pop the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage. Ayers will eventually follow tight end Marquez Branson into the Broncos’ training room Wednesday. Branson suffered a right ankle injury that appeared to be serious.
