What is the trade value for Derrick Johnson?

?

RustShack 08-29-2010 04:45 PM

Shut up. Hes not getting traded.

kstater 08-29-2010 04:46 PM

He's worth a turd sandwich that occasionally tastes like chicken.

Rain Man 08-29-2010 04:49 PM

He was the #15 pick, but he's not lived up to that. I'd say anything in the top 25 picks would be good.

LaChapelle 08-29-2010 04:54 PM

He's already played for the first round dollars
might as well keep him for the re-sign bucks
see if it evens out

mlyonsd 08-29-2010 04:59 PM

I was really pumped when he fell to us that draft. He was impressive to me in college.

Since then I've wondered how good the Big-12 really is.

DaFace 08-29-2010 04:59 PM

Probably far lower than we'd be willing to take. I can't imagine anyone giving up more than a 3rd for him at this point.

Hell, if someone were willing to give up a third for him, I'd jump on that in a heartbeat.

Hammock Parties 08-29-2010 05:01 PM

He's worth keeping around just so we can bump the Aaron Rodgers thread.

Top 25 picks? LMAO

He hasn't been anything close to that since he was drafted. He's played like UDFA.

Gonzo 08-29-2010 05:19 PM

I have to say that I don't remember a time where I've been more disappointed in a pick. The guy's got all the tools to be great and he occasionally flashes that. If he could just keep it together.

The Bad Guy 08-29-2010 05:20 PM

Unless they got a pick in rounds 1-4, I'd keep him.

Bane 08-29-2010 05:23 PM

Yeah, even the 3rd may be a stretch. He is definitely worth it if he plays up to his potential, so if there's someone out there he somehow connects with and thinks they can "fix" him, it's possible. But I wouldn't hold my breath.

no one would give up a 3rd for him

Brock 08-29-2010 05:29 PM

I don't think he's worth anything. There's no consistency with this guy.

philfree 08-29-2010 05:31 PM

I rather hang on to DJ. I think he can be a great role player for us this year as well as a decent back up if Williams were become injured.

How many LBs will we keep?

PhilFree:arrow:

the Talking Can 08-29-2010 05:33 PM

DJ is what he is.....which really isn't much of anything

a soft athletic guy who has never performed consistently since being in the league...

3rd, 4th, 5th round backers every year walk into the league and perform better than he has....

Brock 08-29-2010 05:34 PM

I think if he were worth anything, he would have been gone a while ago.

You're dreaming.

Where a guy got drafted has nothing to do with his trade value. Just ask the Raiders about all of the trade offers they got for JaMarcus Russell.

the Talking Can 08-29-2010 05:35 PM

i agree he's worth more to us as backup, given how shitty our lb core is, than a 5th which the best we'd get for him

Where are all of the "DJ is our best linebacker" morons?

Johnson is one of those guys that lived up to every negative ever said about him pre-draft.

Yes, I'm glad a former first round pick of ours pans out to being a good 2nd string role player for contribution. Wonderful. That's how sad the talent is on this team.

Shhhh. I'm establishing a negotiating position for the Chiefs.

KC Jones 08-29-2010 06:42 PM

I'd say DJ's trade value is 3-4 bazooka joe gum wrappers.

DTLB58 08-29-2010 07:02 PM

If he can't start for the Chiefs D? :doh!:

I didn't say it was a great thing I was just saying it's better then letting him go right now. If we were going to trade him we should have did it before the draft.

This.

ForeverChiefs58 08-29-2010 09:18 PM

We should keep him for no other reason than we play twice a year against the Broncos. That's when he puts on his cape and turns into super DJ.

BossChief 08-29-2010 10:02 PM

If we were gonna trade him, we wouldn't have tendered him at a first rounder...we would have tendered him at a 2nd or went another direction in trying to get some compensation for him.

I think we are giving him one more chance and if he performs at the level of expectations, we will franchise him next year and keep him or trade him for premium compensation.

Would you want to be stuck with Williams, Belcher and Mays at ILB with basically no depth to start the year?

I wouldn't.

He may not be consistent and has obvious weakness', but he is the best ILB we have at the moment.

He sucks less than the other inside LB's, which unfortunately still makes him the best.

BossChief 08-29-2010 10:38 PM

FTR I cant ever remember anyone ever saying he is our best linebacker.

Just our best ILB

and those people are right...its by default mostly, but they are still right.

jspchief 08-29-2010 11:20 PM

Who gives a shit what his trade value is? Even if we got a first we'd just use it to get another DJ. At best. I have no idea why Chiefs fans are so f'ing in love with draft picks.

Because draft picks are what win Championships.

one would counter saying that developing the talent you have on board is just as important, or even more so, to winning championships.

I would rather have DJ than a fourth rounder right now.

I think this staff will get the most out of the player.

I may be wrong, time will tell.

Actually he doesn't. Belcher has been better thus far and so has Williams. So no, he isn't.

Disagree. Williams is an All-Practice player. He never does anything in the regular season.

Belcher I'm good with as the other starting inside LB.

KCBOSS1 08-30-2010 07:07 PM

Can we get San Francisco's 3rd string quarteback?

KCBOSS1 08-30-2010 07:11 PM

I forgot what his name is, but he tore it up last week and I'm sure that He at least started in college.

And Johnson is an all-nothing player. At least Williams has shown up for pre-season.

People keep talking about Johnson's talent but he's devoid up it upstairs where it matters the most. I also don't think he's as talented as everyone thinks because LB is a very instinctive position. You generally can play it at a high level pretty quickly right out of the gate and Johnson never has.

Rasputin 08-30-2010 08:14 PM

I'd like to see what he does this year. If he plays to his potential then he would be worth sticking around. If not, well get the **** out!
