Westboro Scumbags Invading My Hometown
Looks like the trash is blowing across the border again. :shake:
http://www.heartlandconnection.com/n...aspx?id=504285 I did not know the fallen soldier in question, but I hope his family is sufficiently shielded from these vermin. What I really hope is that this will be the day somebody finally puts a bullet in one of their heads. |

God bless that family and their need to mourn. Thanks for doing your part to help them, sec.

Those douchebags picketed my wifes cousins funeral, who was killed in Afghanistan and buried in Gladstone.
The bikers were there, and by the time the processional started they had been run off. |

Hopefully there is a strong Patriot Guard Chapter there.... <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-DZbix25Oy0?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/-DZbix25Oy0?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> |
The thing about those Westboro idiots is that they thrive and raise money on attention. Hard as it is, simply ignoring them is the best way to fight them.

as soon as I get a new set of skins on my bike (flat rear at the moment), I'm going to participate in a ride. Although I might look a bit out of place on an orange sportbike.
but I don't care. |

This isn't Sturgis. These things aren't about the bike you're on. It's about trying to honor one of our fallen and keeping the families shielded as best we can from those douches. |

I have a big yellow button at home somewhere that I bought in Topeka about ten years ago. It simply says: "FRED BLEW ME!"
|
So did they show up Bro?
|
Quote:
they showed up at one last year, but between the riders, and the locals they were pretty much invisible. it's about 50 miles from kv to the military cemetery and both sides of the highway were lined the whole distance w/people in cars, trucks, tractors and combines, holding flags and signs showing respect. very moving. sec |

Serious question. Would you convict anyone of shooting Fred Phelps in the head on video in public? If Phelps was picketing some fallen soldiers funeral and it turned out the shooter was the father and Phelps was wishing their son was in hell.
I'd vote to acquit them regardless of the evidence presented. But that's me personally. |

The worst thing these people do is entice good people to stoop to behavior that is far beneath them. |
In case anyone wants more info on the Patriot Guard and the work they do....

Missouri had passed a law banning protesters at funerals from one hour before the service until one hour after the service. The took it to the state supreme court, however, on the grounds that the law violated their first amendment right to freedom of speech, and the ban was lifted.
|
There was a 14 year old girl in Great Bend that was murdered 10 days ago or so. They had a candellight vigil thing a few nights ago for her, and 2000 people or so showed up. And for some damn reason Phelps bunch was there protesting as well.

i wish I had the motivation to make a big sign that read "God Hates A**holes" with an arrow I could turn in any direction so I could just stand next to these idiots all day.
|
How significant violence isn't routinely becoming these people I'll never understand.
Someday, a distraught relative or friend is going to drive a truck through their protest at a high rate of speed, and I hope they get off free and clear. |
If it was one of my relatives or friends, I don't think I could control myself. I'd go postal on these people.

i'd follow one of the morons to where they lived/worked; wait 6 months or so, then surpsrise them with a very healthy and liberal beating.
God Loves Surprises. |
God help those A-holes if they waltz into a really small community and the deceased is a close friend or family to the law enforcement in the area. At that point, evidence may be very hard to come by if bad things befall those Phelps idiots.

why dont these sick bastards ever come to my town? I'd gladly spend an evening in jail (if they caught me) if I could beat the crap out of a few of them.
|
at some point the law needs to be changed, it doesn't make any sense that they are allowed to do this to people mourning over a lost love one who died in the war.
|
Best way to handle Fred and his klan is just to ignore them. They're media whores. The bigger a fuss you make over them, the better they like it.
|
god help them if they ever encounter someone like Mohillbilly on an emtionaly day like that etc.
I seriously can't wait to take part in a ride with the PG to honor the fallen/pay my respects, and to shield the family from these religous nuts. |

Watch the maroon truck at the 7 second mark, as he turns the corner. He gets the protesters with pepper spray. Too bad he was arrested.

I went to school with a few of the kids. Very nice individuals, never spoke of their beliefs. I was friends with one of the girls, I didn't realize she was part of the clan until after high school, when I saw her picketing. No one ****s with them here because their family is full of lawyers. |

“On March 10, 2006, WBC picketed the funeral of Marine Lance Corporal Matthew A. Snyder, who died in combat in Iraq on March 3, 2006. On June 5, 2006, the Snyder family sued Fred Phelps, WBC, and unnamed others for defamation, invasion of privacy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. On October 31, 2007, WBC, Fred Phelps and his two daughters, Shirley Phelps-Roper and Rebekah Phelps-Davis, were found liable for invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress. A federal jury awarded Snyder's father $2.9 million in compensatory damages, then later added a decision to award $6 million in punitive damages for invasion of privacy and an additional $2 million for causing emotional distress
… alleging that they were responsible for publishing defamatory information about the Snyder family on the Internet, including statements that Albert and his wife had "raised [Matthew] for the devil" and taught him "to defy his Creator, to divorce, and to commit adultery." Other statements denounced them for raising their son Catholic. Snyder further complained the defendants had intruded upon and staged protests at his son's funeral. An appeal by WBC was heard on September 24, 2009. The federal appeals court ruled in favor of Phelps and Westboro Baptist Church, stating that their picket near the funeral of Matthew A. Snyder is protected speech and did not violate the privacy of the service member's family, reversing the lower court's $5 million judgment. On March 30, 2010, the federal appeals court ordered Albert Snyder to pay the court costs for the Westboro Baptist Church, an amount totaling $16,510.” |

What gets me is that, whether they hide behind the "we're doing it for God" reasoning, they know good and well the frustration and anger they are inflicting upon others, and they know there's not a damned thing anyone can do to stop them. They believe they are above others in more ways than one. What I wouldn't give to bring these people down a notch. Someone needs to picket a funeral of one of their members with signs reminding the that God reserves the right to judge for himself. That, and have someone go postal during the service. |
