You know what's worth considering?
We have a ton of players with expiring contracts this year.
In addition to the Matt Cassel decision we'll be making at year's end, we're almost certainly losing Brodie Croyle. Jamaal Charles will be a free agent. Priority A1. We're also set to have absolutely nothing at center. Both Wiegmann and Niswanger are up. We're also set to have absolutely nothing at nose tackle. Edwards, up. Smith, up. Our entire starting linebacking corps is up for contract. Vrabel, DJ, Mays, Hali. That is a huge opportunity to revamp our defense. Brandon Carr is worth resigning, and he's up. Also, Mike Cox, Leonard Pope, O'Callaghan, Travis Daniels. Meh. So this is a big, big year for us after the season. The best player on our offense is up for FA. And we have a chance to drastically remodel this team at QB, C, NT, and all LB positions. In other words, we have a chance to make this a completely different team in 2011. |
So you're saying we should draft some players? I agree. I think that's a good idea. I'd opt for perhaps one every round.
|
the only guys they should really focus on resigning are: Carr, Charles, and Hali.
Other than that, meh |
We are doomed...

What do you suggest? 1. QB 2. OLB 3. NT 4. C 5. ILB 6. NT 6 (Page?). QB 7. ILB Think that'll do it, Sarcasmo? |
Sarcasmo. Funny.
|
I think there won't be football as we know it in 2011.
I believe teams FOs are preparing for this now. Either that or Pioli is stupid, Haley is crazy and Matt Cassel can't throw a pass over 5 yards and is inaccurate as hell. And Weis and Crennell suck because they failed as head coaches and the Chiefs suck because they didn't draft a franchise quarterback and a nose tackle. Does anybody know where I can get a Patrick Dennis jersey? Dinny |
So, with all of our players up for possible contract renewal, hopefully we see the best out of all of them.
|
Maybe some of the currently cheap payroll is being saved for signing some of these guys long-term.
|
depending on what kind of season JC has I could see him commanding CJ type wants + money and if that's the case you could see a Chiefs franchise being too cheap and not wanting to budge.
I could see them slapping the franchise tag on him and he holds out next year coming from a mile away. If for some reason they lose him to free agency I am done cheering for this franchise. |
It doesn't matter. There will be a lockout next year sadly.

Can't wait to hear the first salvo of "Trade Charles now while you can get something for him" on local sports talk radio. I'm guessing 610 will be first on board with this. LMAO
|
All need to be resigned.....
Charles Hali DJ Carr Weigmann (If he performs well and doesn't retire, I'd sign him to another 1 yr deal) |
We could lose all of those players and I wouldn't care a bit. Except maybe Charles... but he'll be dead before this franchise is worth a crap.

Charles is the most talented of the bunch but he isn't the type of player you build your team around. He'll make some nice fantasy numbers for a couple of years and then he'll be done. Hali is probably the second-most talented player on that list and he is very average when it comes to it. He's a complementary piece- not a guy you keep at all costs. |
Leonard Pope, will he ever be anything?

Good points. This will be a very different team, and we had better keep Hali, and Charles. If either of those guys go, I am going to be pissed.
