The 49ers game will be THE breakout game of the Scott Pioli era.
The stars are aligning this weekend for a watershed moment in the Scott Pioli era.
The 49ers, and NFC teams in general, rarely play well at Arrowhead when the Chiefs are competitive. We're 2-0, our defense is kicking ass, and Alex Smith sucks. Arrowhead is going to be rocking and we're healthy and on the upswing, with room to improve. Matt Cassel, Dwayne Bowe, Jamaal Charles, Chris Chambers, Tony Moeaki, Thomas Jones, Dexter McCluster, Tamba Hali, Eric Berry...they're all lying in the weeds, waiting to have their breakout game. If two or three of those guys go off, we win by 14+. If four or five of them explode, we win by 21+. If more than that go off, holy shit, look out. I think most of them are going to go off. We're going to rip off the 49ers' heads and shit down their necks. This game will be over by halftime. Complete and total domination. This ass kicking will be on par with the 41-0 shellacking we laid on San Francisco in 2006. It COULD even approach the 44-9 destruction of 1997. You heard it here first. We're a powder keg, and this week we EXPLODE. http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/9602/young2.gif |
Alex Smith looked good on Monday at home...but looked terrible the week before on the road...
I don't know if he's mentally tough enough to handle a hostile crowd... so if our fans bring it...that could give us a huge advantage |
Yep. My money going on SF.

Gawd I loved the game that gif is from. The D made Young his biatch big time!!

I appreciate your optimism, and hope that you are indeed correct.

Do you think Jamaal will get more carries?
|
I thought that was the Pittsburgh game.
|
I heard a rumor that Cassel sucks?
|
Ill Bite, Go Chiefs!
|
Cassel will come down with explosive diarrhea and Croyle gets the start. With the 5-7 seconds of protection that Cassel often squandered with checkdowns, Croyle will be putting deep passes right on the money.
Croyle steals Cassel's job Mike Vick style. |

Cassel will get some Shape Ups for this game and then he'll be able to throw it over the fence and past the Johnny-on-the-Spots.

At least GoChiefs takes a stand. Well done, sir.
I'm 50/50. :D |
Niners 19
Chiefs 10 |
Shit. This is like Mumbles McHoltz picking your team on college gameday. We're going down 44-10.

Isn't 41-0 a bigger asskicking than 44-9?

9ers - 9
Chiefs - 6 doen't the weather call for rain? |

I was saying recently that this game had some parallels to Priest Holmes' first season, and how it took three games before we finally started feeding him the ball enough to start being explosive.
I hope you are right. But I think it's going to be another brutal scoring game in the teens. 16-10, KC. |

My other reaction is that if you substituted 49ers players for Chiefs players in the original passage (like so), the argument would sound just as lame:
"Alex Smith, Frank Gore, Vernon Davis, Michael Crabtree, Brian Westbrook, Ted Ginn Jr., Patrick Willis, Taylor Mays...they're all lying in the weeds, waiting to have their breakout game. If two or three of those guys go off, we win by 14+. If four or five of them explode, we win by 21+. If more than that go off, holy shit, look out. I think most of them are going to go off. We're going to rip off the Chiefs' heads and shit down their necks. This game will be over by halftime. Complete and total domination. This ass kicking will be on par with the 21-7 shellacking we laid on Kansas City in 2000. It COULD even approach the 28-14 destruction of 1991. You heard it here first. We're a powder keg, and this week we EXPLODE." |

rename my cp user name for a month to "Cock Buffer" if we manage a non ugly win this game.
SF is going to **** us and cp will have a melt down. Posted via Mobile Device |
I've heard of jinxing our chances, but with all the dynamic predictions, do you have to bend over and invite the jinx to plant its foot deep in your ass? You're out on a limb so thin a hummingbird wouldn't land on it!
And if you are right, I will gladly defer to your superior insight! |

If the Niners don't turn the ball over, the Chiefs don't have a chance. They will be keying on Gore so much that they will get burned by the play action. The secondary has been giving up too many big plays. If they double team Davis, the WRs will burn them.
Cassel will have even less time to throw than usual. It's going to be very tough to sustain drives running the ball. Special teams and defense will be the keys for the Chiefs again. |
What I'm concerned about this game is the coverage skills by the linebackers, or middle of the field in general, have been very poor, and I fear that Vernon Davis is going to have a big day.

If the Chiefs lose and play a competitive game, I will consider it progress. I didn't expect them to beat SD and SF based on what I saw in the preseason. If they get blown out, then this team is not as far along as some may think.

I remember the last time we were dominating and had the game won by halftime....we lost.

The 49ers haven't won here in almost 30 years. It won't be all that surprising if the Chiefs beat them.

Just looking at some of the stats (assuming I’ve interpreted them correctly)…
I think the Niners (like everyone else) will force the Chiefs to pass. If they get ahead of us by 10+ points, I think it’s over. Some things that stood out to me: Niners have only been allowing 63yd rushing per game; where our offense has been getting 139 per game. Chiefs are 30th passing yards at 117yds per game and the Niners defense is 14th allowing 201yds per game. Our Offensive 3rd down conversion rate of 23% is 30th in the NFL. Niners D is 25th in allowing 3rd down conversions at 25%. Pretty good opportunity there for the Chiefs to hopefully extend some drives; flip field position; rest Defense , and obviously try to score some points. Chiefs Defense is 6th in 3rd down stops; Niners O is 28th in 3rd down conversions at 25%. Everything else is pretty even: Chiefs Rush D is 9th with 91yds per game allowed. Niners are 19th in rushing with 95 yards per game Chiefs Pass D is 25th with 253yds per game allowed. Niners are 10th with 248 pass yards per game. Chiefs allow average of 14pts; Niners Offense is 24th in scoring at 14pts per game. *I think I interpreted the 3rd down Defense stat correctly |

Ass kicking is not defined by score, but rather the asses kicked.
I think we can all agree 44-9 featured a more brutal brand of football. Especially as it came against a more talented team. |

I think this is going to be the game that brings Chiefs fans back down to Earth. It's only a matter of time before we get a few bad breaks and a team gets a few scores on us. So far, we've gotten nearly all the good breaks in our two games. That can't continue. And the way this team is playing, they won't be able to hang in a shootout playing from behind. We've done very well playing cautious and protecting a lead and controlling the pace in the first two games. But this offense hasn't shown that it can score points when it has too. And I expect that scenario this weekend.
But.... it will be great to see how the team responds. Let's rock Arrowhead either way.... |
no such thing as a break out game as long as Cassel is our QB...whenever we acquire a real QB, then we can have a 'break out game'....
that said, we have a very good chance of winning...i think home field finally matters again in KC |

And, I'm IN. We WIN. |
I think we win.
Can anyone find any highlights of that game in 97? I was there in person, it was glorious. |
I think Weis puts the ball in Cassels hands and Cassel has a record achieving day.
Most ints thrown in one game with 9 Fewest passing yards in one game with -12 Most fumbles by a QB in one game with 6 Passer Rating -47 |
Anyone remember the last time GC did this?
http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showt...er#post4997557 Yeah, 23-8 loss. To the Raiders. At home. In the opener. |
Huard will move the offense up and down the field all day
Really? ROFL |

First, the prediction. Then Clay and Micjones arguing for Darling. Yeah, that worked out well, fellas. Then the bump and subsequent pile on after Oakland ass-rapes us. Then ANOTHER bump a year later after Oakland beats us AGAIN at home. |

Also, I'm not sure the 49ers are that much of an offensive powerhouse that I expect a shootout this Sunday. |

Both teams will run the ball, play D. If anything, the Niners will be the team to make a play in the passing game. The only thing that wins this game for the Chiefs is the home crowd advantage. But that won't have any bearing on how the offense plays. Another nail biter folks. |

San Fran shot themselves in the foot a lot against New Orleans.
We are going to need a Raider-esc meltdown on San Fran's part to pull a victory. |
Chiefs - 217
49ers - 4 This game is a lot closer than the score would indicate. |
JC- 326 yards rushing
Frank Gore - 22 yards rushing |
Look for Cassel to have his breakout game in this one.

I'd like to see Studebaker & Belcher get more playing time and have a break out game. Less Vrabel more Studebaker & Belcher. Vrabel has done well but he is getting old is old.
That and have Jamaal carry the ball more. Matt Cassel sucks. |
Belcher plays pretty much every down.

Let's do it.

GoChiefs is right. Most of us on here seem so frightened after watching the 49ers against the Saints. Yeah, that was in SF. When the 49ers travel they are a horrible, horrible team. Like I've been saying over the last 8 games on the road for SF they are 1-7 and that only win came against the Rams. And the 49ers are winless when Vernon Davis has big games of either 7 catches or more, 100 or more receiving yards, and 2 or more TD's. Stopping Davis shouldn't be the focus. If anything shut down Frank Gore, and offensively Cassel needs to make some uncharacteristic throws while Jamaal Charles sees far more touches than usual.
The Chiefs will win this game. It looks scary on paper, but when you look deeper, the Chiefs have everything in their favor. |
