Raye gets canned just 18 hours after the dreaded vote of confidence. Something had to change here, as the Niners are 0-3 and rank 31st in the league in points scored. One source told beat writer Matt Maiocco that Chiefs defenders were calling out the 49ers' play correctly before the snap Sunday and Raye called three straight running plays up the middle while trailing 24-3 in the third quarter. This change can only be seen as good news for Michael Crabtree, who can't seem to get on the same page with Alex Smith. Quarterbacks coach Mike Johnson has been promoted.

Dude should never have had a job as an OC in the first place. Put him in charge of getting the water out to the table and picking up jock straps after the game seems more fitting of a job for him IMO.

So what is the running count on how many offenses that Jimmy Raye has destroyed with his horrid playcalling?

When raye ran the same 3 running plays on the goalline during the saints game the radio announcer (ex-NFL QB) went nuts.

Last season IIRC we got the Redskins OC fired too.

In 2006 we sent Jake Plummer into retirement.

I'd seriously be interested in hearing the behind-the-scenes conversations on how guys like Jimmy Raye and Norv Turner and Greg Robinson get hired. You've got to figure there's some intelligent guy in the room who's going bonkers.
