http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukne...off-cliff.html ROFL ROFL :doh!: The multi-millionaire businessman, 62, fell into the River Wharfe while inspecting the grounds of his North Yorkshire estate on a rugged country version of the Segway. The Segway is a motorised scooter which use gyroscopes to remain upright and is controlled by the direction in which the rider leans. Related Articles Segway factfile Is a Segway safe to ride? A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said today: "Police were called at 11.40am yesterday to reports of a man in the River Wharfe, apparently having fallen from the cliffs above. "A Segway-style vehicle was recovered. He was pronounced dead at the scene. "At this time we do not believe the death to be suspicious." Heselden was worth £166m and ranked 395th on the Sunday Times Rich List. The former miner made his millions from defence contracts. He created a unique portable wire cage water containment system which when filled with earth and sand proved a major defence against bullets, missiles and suicide attacks. His founded his first company HESCO Bastions with his redundancy pay when he was laid off from the mines. The wire cage systems developed by Bastions have become standard military equipment for Nato as well as American and British forces. The Segway operation was acquired by a UK based company backed by Heselden. |

i think alanis morrisette first sang about "a man on a segway, dumbass off a cliff...isn't it.."
|
How would one bring this story up at a party without making an awkward transition?
|
lol...the Segway...what a worthless invention. Too fast for the sidewalk and too slow for the street. Who the hell buys these things and where do they ride them?

My prayers have been answered.

A. A golf cart B. A bike C. One of these piles of crap. I always go with a fast golf cart over there for my transportation needs, but I saw a guy over there last year that rented one of these. His was in front of me in my cart and went over a speed bump. Long store short, he piled it up and did a head plant in the middle of the street. I think I'll stick with a golf cart again this year. |

very popular with renta cops at malls

This guy invented HESCO barriers also. HESCO's are far more useful than Segway's.

He didn't invent Segways - he bought the company. Irony aside this guy was a great humanitarian and donated millions upon millions to charity.

Upon news of his death stocks in Segway plummeted.
|
I'll bet that the Segway remained in a perfectly horizontal position all the way down, though. It's got gyroscopes. Too bad it doesn't come standard with BRS.
