Cameras caught Chiefs defensive lineman Shaun Smith grabbing 49ers tackle Anthony Davis' nether regions last Sunday, and the NFL has responded.

Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports Smith will pay $10,000 for the infraction. Smith was accused of similar genital grabbing the week before, but avoided punishment there.

If Smith wants to keep up his hit streak this week, he'll have to do it in practice. The Chiefs are on a bye.

Brodie Croyle was on the Dan Patrick show this morning and of course they brought up Shaun Smith.

They called him "Sascrotch" ROFL.

Was there actually any "evidence" to prove this? I know there was one by Clay, but nowhere on that film clearly showed him cupping it or grabbing the business.

I wondered the same. Sure, it was pretty clear to know when he did it, and the reaction fit the accusation, but a pretty stiff fine for not even being able to see what happened clearly. I'm sure (and other players have mentioned) that it is hardly the first time things like this happens in a pile. Smith has just had the spotlight on him because it all went public and the media ran with it.

If it is legal to pull the long hair of a player because it is part of the uniform, why are the other dangly parts off limits? I was just curious what the NFL has determined the difference to be.

Eh, two guys from different teams saying the same thing a week apart, combined with the video that sure looks like Davis got a nice surprise by something in his nether-regions, probably makes for a compelling case.

Problem could have been solved if Davis had been wearing protection.

Just to be clear, it was Anthony Davis, rookie RT.

10k isn't much to make the most of the packages you're in on.

It's legal to tackle a ball carrier by the hair. I imagine a DT pulling an OT's hair would result in a flag or fine.

Medical companies will pay out the wazoo for donated organs especially the testicles, Shaun was just doing his best to survive in a tough economy. Smith didn't get caught. I don't see any solid evidence that he did anything. I think he did do it. I am pretty sure everybody THINKS he did it. I don't see any evidence of him actually doing it.

All the horrible O-linemen of the NFL could potentially band together and get all those mean d-linemen that keep embarrassing them fined because apparently being accused of grabbing some guys junk in the pile is a $10,000 offense.
