He doesn't seem to have a face, either. Horrible.

That doesn't ever hold my kids for long....slippery, devious little farts.

The article says the parents were high after a night of partying and taped the child for their entertainment and not to discipline or anything like that. :shake:

Because taping him to the wall to discipline him would have been acceptable.

(not saying you were implying that, just making a point)

pr_capone 10-01-2010 03:25 PM

I don't get it.

If you hate your kid that much, put them up for adoption. Give them to a relative or a friend to care for. Don't **** with the kid like that.

Makes me sick that so many undeserving people in the world procreate like rabbits and so many deserving people have such difficulty conceiving.

The great state of Nebraska decided to let the kid stay with the mother after this. Seriously.

THE PROBLEM is that they eventually escape from the tape and grow up to be adult NU fans. Somehow, we need to make that tape stickier and more effective.

I hear you. The picture where they tape his sippie-cup right out of his reach is the most ****ed up one, IMO.

Donger 10-01-2010 03:30 PM

As a parent, albeit one who has never taped his kids to the wall, there's a chance that the boy is actually smiling in that picture.

Looks like a tube of silicone at the bottom by the trim. Theres a good possibility they Siliconed his ass to the wall.

Quote:

Two teenagers were sentenced to jail after duct-taping a 22-month-old child to the wall. The pictures—here with the child's face obscured—show him stuck to the wall at uncomfortable angles and with tape directly on his bare skin.

The mother, Jayla Hamm, 18, was sentence to 10 days in jail and two years' probation, while her boyfriend, 19-year-old Corde Honea, received a sentence of 36 to 60 months in prison—as well as separate sentences for burglary and possession of a firearm.

Besides taping the kid, Hamm and Honea taped his favorite sippy cup to the wall just out of his reach. They also appear to have taped his fists closed. The police say they were high; either way, their expressions in the photos don't reflect people who quite understand that two-year-olds are not toys. (The boy's expression, which you can't see, was described by the prosecuting attorney as "terrified.")

The abuse came to light when Hamm—"momma hamm" on MySpace, where her mood is "depressed" (I'll bet)—showed the photos to a friend, who had the good sense to tell police. The kid will stay with his mother under state supervision

Okay, so much for my rather feeble attempt at defending white trash. Feed them to the pigs (shouldn't be hard to arrange that in Nebraska).

allen_kcCard 10-01-2010 03:41 PM

I had hoped that this was done as a joke and the kid was giggling and laughing the whole (or at least most) of the time. I've had things like this done to me when I was little by my uncles and have done it with my kids as well, and it is always something that would never hurt them and they laugh about after. As a kid, they might get a point of nervous whining when they start to wonder if you are really going to leave them there when you say "see you later" but it is entirely all a game.

For me, I remember being wrapped up in a blanket like burrito, tossed up on top of a stack of hay in the hay barn, sitting on a tier pole where they hung tobacco, left out in the middle of a pasture about 10 miles from the house...etc. I always knew they would come back or let me out, but it was funny that they made me think they wouldn't.

There's a two year adoption waiting list for a healthy, white baby. He'd be snapped up in a heartbeat.

terrible given that he looked "terrified" and theres just no way u can cut the sippycup just out of reach and make it remotely acceptable.

still though.. things like these sometimes get out of hand. this obviously didnt happen here, but i could totally see a kid laughing and having fun being taped to the wall for a couple minutes before it became too much.

If true, and the kid can't untape himself from the wall, he pretty much deserves to stay there.

Dude, like you, I have been many places and lived in all sorts of different areas. Nebraska's far from the worst. It all depends on what your personality is like and what hobbies you enjoy.
Being a huge hunter, I like it here. The summers are "usually" decent. As are the winters. This last year has been rough but all in all, not a bad place to be.

Now then the people, 3 in 10 are douchebag husker fans. Living in Omaha helps because of the cultural diversity thing. Lincoln sucks. A lot of small towns suck too, (as far as the husker thing goes)
The worst place I've ever lived was Wichita. I hated it.
