What he said. It might be a jolt, but old ladies coming in from the cold and girls interested in books with bare-chested men hopped up on steroids on the covers sip that sh*t.

kysirsoze 10-02-2010 09:11 PM

espresso IN coffee

Coffee with extra shot(s) of espresso dropped in ftw.

You obviously know nothing about the subject.

Espresso makes coffee look like diet coke.

You don't see old ladies ordering espresso PLAIN.

You see them order Lattes and Mochas...

Try actually knowing something about a subject before talking....

Espresso is just coffee, but way more intense and powerful. What's feminine about that?

Nothing, he was just intimidated because they don't have an espresso machine at the coffee shop in his parent's trailer park where he lives.

Intimidated by espresso....sad.

Wow...a little uptight over caffeine, aren't we?

All I need is coffee and sugar. I just don't find the logic in paying 5 bucks for lattes and mochas and it's not a knock on Starbuck's, it's a knock on coffee shops period and the people who frequent them.

What does this have to do with espresso? Espresso is like a dollar a shot added to your coffee...

YOU were the one getting all bent about it...go back and read...

Getting bent?

Dude, lighten the **** up and cut down on your espresso intake. I was merely ****ing around. You took it seriously and now you're being defensive about absolutely nothing.

Oh I get it, when you talk shit you are 'messing around' but when other people talk shit back to you....They're defensive and 'too serious.'

Get over yourself, pillowbiter.

Maybe if you had actually ever tried espresso or knew what you were talking about you wouldn't be back-peddling harder than a reerun going downhill on a bike with no brakes.

You weren't talking shit, you were being an asshole. I made an observation you didn't like and took offense to and decided to throw the asshole card at me. And on top of everything, you make an insult about my parents.

I sometimes fix the computers for a national coffee business. They usualy offer me a free cup. It is nice of them but when they ask me what I want is sounds like they are speaking Latin. So I get in a panic and start looking around the room for for clues. I then respond with Ummm Uhh......Maxwell House?

Then they have pitty on me and serve up a beverage with whipped cream on it. I thank them and head out. It does taiste good, though.

baitism 10-02-2010 09:50 PM

Someone sure got their panties up in a bunch over this thread. I don't know any self-respecting man that drinks espresso.

I do, and I read books. But seriously, black coffee does the trick when I drink it. I want to enjoy it, not drink it like a 5 hour energy.

Fish 10-02-2010 09:54 PM

I was in a Starbucks once quite some time back, and I witnessed this old timer come up to the counter. The trendy douche working the counter asked what he wanted, and the fella said "Gimme a coffee." The counter douche stood there for a long moment with this dumbfounded expectant look on his face, and with every ounce of pretentiousness possible, replied with "Sir, this is Starbucks."

I wanted to climb over the counter and strangle him with his own gay scarf. Haven't been back in a Starbucks since.

cdcox 10-02-2010 09:55 PM

I like espresso fine, the problem is I want to drink coffee all day long. I'd end up going through 10 of those little cups during the course of a day.

You have no clue what youre even talking about. Espresso is muddy black compared to your pussy ass 'black coffee.' Try it some time if you like black coffee. I like my coffee black too, but like it better with 2 shots of espresso mixed in.

large coffee + 2 shots of espresso mixed in solves this

I get plain black coffee in Starbucks everytime I go in with no problem. Granted that isn't very often because I just don't see the value.

isn't it less than 2 bux? Or do you mean the value of making it at home?

I can buy a refill at the coffee shop for $0.75. That adds up over a year. Plus, I always end up buying a scone or something when I go to Starbucks.

Damn I would go the 75 cent place for sure

That's the key- I can buy a bag of coffee beans for damn near the price of a latte at Starbuck's these days. I drink coffee at home and every once in awhile, when I want something sweeter and richer, I'll waltz into a coffee shop and order up a latte or macchiato or whatever suits my pretentious trailer-park ass.

Honestly, I was one of those dudes that ordered a latte on my way into the office every morning. When I realized I was spending $75/month on Starbuck's, I decided to return to store-bought coffee beans and make my own coffee.

Forgive me for not having the pomposity to waste my money on over-priced caffeine drinks these days.

cdcox 10-02-2010 10:21 PM

Yep, I've been making making my first 16 oz cup of coffee of the day at home and saving even the first $0.75. The lady who makes the coffee at work insists on making decaf so I have to go to the coffee shop once per day to get my fix. If I have more than 32 oz, decaf is fine.

Slainte 10-02-2010 10:33 PM

Not questioning the truth of your story, but I worked in a Starbucks for over a year and this is an extremely isolated incident. Drip coffee is by far the most popular order at starbucks. More often we would have someone come in and be pissed at the number of options. "I just want a coffee" with and implied "douchbag" at the end.

Not only was it the most popular order, it was my favorite order cause it took about 6 seconds to fill and on to the next customer.

I'd probably spend 40 bucks a week on coffee.

You can't get non-espresso coffee here. Even McDonalds has an espresso machine. Absolutely no one drinks what you lot call "coffee". if you want it long and black you can get it that way but it's either more espresso or more water. Not out one of those jugs that people walk around "diners" with in America

Bwana 10-03-2010 09:24 AM

Coffee

Baby Lee 10-03-2010 10:15 AM

My new kick is cold brew. Like you do with sun tea, let the grounds mingle loose in a big caraffe for a day, then run it through your liner. Stick it in the fridge. Strong, flavorful and not at all bitter. But I've just used it for iced drinks. Dunno if it pays off in the microwave.

I'll take a long black or cafe americano over a straight espresso, but give me coffee most days.

It pretty clear the 'sissy baiters' were confusing espresso with latte and/or cappucino.

Kind of like coming into a beer thread and stating malt liquor is for sissies.

ROFL

Exactly

RedNFeisty 10-03-2010 11:48 AM

Coffee....not sure if it is true or not, but the lady at my coffee house said the milder the brew, the more the caffeine. So, if picking up some Folgers at the grocery store, go for the light Breakfast Blend if a kick of caffeine is what you are wanting. She even said the lighter blend had more of a kick then espresso.

Chiefs Rool 10-03-2010 11:50 AM

coffee black

But I often go to Dunkin Doughnuts to get a big cup of coffee + a double shot of expresso added to it! I think it's called the dominator or something.
