How much longer will we be able to call Zach Greinke a Royal? I'm assuming he'll be dealt over the Winter?

Bugeater 10-04-2010 09:34 AM

Better keep a plunger handy, that's an awful lot of shit.

gblowfish 10-04-2010 09:35 AM

Hey at least Alice Gordon has promised to "Dominate" next year.
I hope he's bought his leather chaps and his dog collar.

Bane 10-04-2010 09:38 AM

Todd Haley says **** off.

There's no excusing Zack checking out mentally this year. We paid a shitload of money and he needs to pitch his ass off no matter how the team is doing. It's called being a professional. I understand teams like Minnesota have figured him out a little bit but you don't get paid all that money to lose to ****ing Cleveland.

Hoover 10-04-2010 09:42 AM

I WILL FOLLOW

Rain Man 10-04-2010 09:47 AM

I don't follow baseball. Did they have a good year?

Okay, I'm sorry. That was mean.

I agree. I like Zach but he let down his teammates this year, plain and simple. That being said, I like the future with the way our farm system is starting to produce at multiple levels.

The organization has done nothing at the same time. It is hard to not lose your concentration when you know your efforts are all for nothing.

I don't give a shit how hard it is. You are paid to win games. You can't blame the offense as much this time for Zachs shitty performances. **** him if he's only going to pitch well when he feels like it.

Dayze 10-04-2010 10:49 AM

we have a baseball team?

DJ's left nut 10-04-2010 12:26 PM

Here's the good news:

Ned Yost just said to Petro that Billy Butler is the best young RH hitter he's ever seen.

He managed in the same division as Albert Pujols for about 5 years (while AP was, in fact, a young RH hitter).

So Billy Butler should really start doing things for you guys soon. All he needs to do is bat about .350 with 50 HRs/season for the next decade and he'll catch up to Albert in no time.

Chiefs Rool 10-04-2010 12:28 PM

at least we didn't lose 100 games I guess, that's something right?

Baseball America Recognizes Royals Prospects

AUTHOR: Michael Engel | IN: KC Royals | COMMENTS: None Yet |

Stop me if you’ve heard this one – the Royals have a lot of big prospects performing well this year.

If it were any other team, any other group of players, I’d be tired of hearing about it, but since it’s my Royals, I’ll read the same articles over and over like a seventh grade book club reads Twilight.

The newest bit of recognition comes from Baseball America, who have repeatedly pointed out Royals prospects this season for their exceptional performance.* Jim Callis has called Kansas City’s the best minor league system in the game.* Wil Myers and Mike Moustakas have both been featured in their prospect hot sheet, and at the All-Star break, Eric Hosmer was included as a minor league midseason All-Star by BA.

Well the newest level of praise by Baseball America is actually a little bit ridiculous – in a great way.

Earlier today, Baseball America produced an end of year prospect hot sheet, selecting a player at every hitting position and then five pitchers as their Hot Sheet All-Star team.

So keep in mind that there are 30 Major League Baseball teams. Each team has four full season minor league affiliates. Now if all of those have, say, 23 players on average at a given time, that works out to (carrying the one, drop down the six…) 2760 minor league players under consideration.

Baseball American chose fifteen as the best in 2010.

And the Royals had five of them.

Granted, BA isn’t naming their top 15 overall. It’s fairly arbitrary in that they selected a full batting lineup, so in some cases, Mike Stanton and Jesus Montero, considered among the top three to start the year, a prospect was on the honorable mention team. Still, this is elite company. There were theoretically 120 everyday minor league first basemen (assuming every minor league affiliate had one primary first baseman), and Eric Hosmer was chosen as the best of them all.

The honored Royals (all deserving) were:
Catcher: Wil Myers
First base: Eric Hosmer
Third Base: Mike Moustakas
Starting Pitcher: John Lamb
Relief Pitcher: Tim Collins

Sad that we only have that as a measuring stick anymore.
