Clausen's first game.

11-of-21 for 146 yards and a touchdown, on the road against the defending Super Bowl champions. Without his best receiver for most of the game.

Quite a few nice throws. He even had a chance to win this game, but 2nd round bust Dwayne Jarrett dropped a pass.

Clausen is getting some cover from a decent run game, but for the most part, he was one dropped pass away from threatening the Saints.

I've been dead wrong on Bradford, but I've been sold on Clausen for two years now and I'm still liking this kid a lot.

blaise 10-04-2010 01:50 PM

I haven't watch any Panthers since week one, but didn't he play last week?
Not that it would be huge experience either way.

King_Chief_Fan 10-04-2010 01:51 PM

why do we care about that?

The Franchise 10-04-2010 01:51 PM

Mark Castle is 3-0. Shutup. :D

Sure, but the team put him behind the 8-ball. He got zero reps during the week, and was brought out when the team was behind and on their own 1-yard line.

This was the test. A full week of being the guy, given a whistle-to-whistle chance of commanding the team.

Largely without Steve Smith. Against the Super Bowl champs. In the Superdome.

Did what he had to do. I wish the kid well.

Well, you don't.

But football fans that do not suffer from tunnel vision might.

So did the Sanchize.

Who cares?

Considering what he's looked like lately it's probably best to just move on from these debates before we all get annoyed.

Titty Meat 10-04-2010 01:57 PM

Clausen sucked aginst Cinci you forgot that part.

Exactly. Organizations make personnel mistakes.

News at 11.

He had a nice pass on the scramble toward the end, and then folded like a rookie. Poor game management. He wasn't hurrying enough. Even if his last pass was complete, they were out of timeouts and would have lost the game.

jspchief 10-04-2010 02:08 PM

Didn't about 1/3 of those yards come on a single play with blown coverage on a RB?

Seems like a pretty Cassel-like day to me.

Fish 10-04-2010 02:09 PM

He did look good last game. He seemed much more comfortable out there. I still think this kid is gonna be great.

But with the Chiefs 3-0.... I shudder to think how many fans would trade that perfect schedule for what Clausen would provide. Rookie QB mistakes and all the potential upside in the world. I doubt we'd be 3-0 with Clausen. But personally, I'd feel infinitely better about the future with him.

21 passes for 146 yards?!

You've GOT that.

Yeah, with a QB who's probably more than halfway through his career.

plenty who don't.......those who don't doesn't mean tunnel vision.

Now starting a thread about the QB you covet seems more tunnel vision to me.

That's probably going to be higher than Tebow's career NFL numbers.

Quite a few of you seem to have an inordinate interest in a third-string rookie quarterback.

Yes, just not enough that would want him drafted in the first round, though.

This was his 2nd start. He started last week against Cincy.

The Saints were without Bush and Pierre Thomas. I give credit to the Panthers D for keeping them in the game.

TheGuardian 10-04-2010 03:42 PM

Putting up a stat line means nothing. Anyone who watched that game saw he looked like shit. The game was close because the Saints were without Bush and Thomas. The only credit due should be to the Panthers defense.

Why the **** do we have threads about Clausen on a Chiefs message board? STFU you god damn moron.

You're full of bitterness.

We'll talk about Clausen and other football players on a football message board as much as we please. Thanks.

Chiefs Rool 10-04-2010 04:04 PM

I thought Cassel was bad until I watched Kolb play yesterday. That guy passed to running backs and full backs at least 20 times, lol. You guys woulda went crazy if that was our QB.

you do realize that much of the checkdown plays that you seem to consider bad can be part of the offense and because WR's aren't getting open as much as a shitty QB ... right?

well it obviously didn't work out too well for them.

FD 10-04-2010 04:17 PM

For those of you who didn't see it, you should know that about half his yards came on a TD pass to the RB who didn't get covered and was wide open behind the secondary. He also had a problem with passes getting blocked at the line. He threw about 4 or 5 that got batted down right at the line. This is a problem he will need to work on. He also made some real nice throws and converted a couple 3rd downs. Probably best not to judge too much from one game.

And 75% of Cassel's yards in NE were because of YAC.

-King- 10-04-2010 04:26 PM

FWIW, he got a good chunk of his yards on that broken coverage pass to Jonathan Stewart.

Pasta Little Brioni 10-04-2010 04:46 PM

They were out of timeouts and it was under 5 seconds, so even if Jarrett catches the ball it is game over.

He's also behind a pretty bad Oline so he doesn't really have the time to wait for plays to develop.

Kolb would probably look solid here.

Not a thread I started you ****ing idiot of epic proportions. So yeah, great comparison. Did your mother have children that lived?

Second, this thread was only started because some epically stupid morons wanted to draft Clausen for no other reason than to draft a QB. If he had played well, MAYBE I could understand starting a thread all by itself to jerk off to Clausen. However he didn't play well at all. Anyone who watched that game knows that.

Anything else dickwad?

No...he ****ing sucks. When he had time, he sucked. When he had to improvise, he sucked. Vick is so much better than him and it's not just because he can run.

No he wouldn't. Vick looked fine behind the same line. you think everyone would be better than Cassel here. And I'm not even a Cassel fan. But your take that Kolb would look solid here is hilarious.
