Favre has a broken ankle

Per NFL Live

gblowfish 10-25-2010 01:47 PM

Did he snap a cellphone picture of it?

FIRST!!

doomy3 10-25-2010 01:48 PM

No shit? I honestly thought he was milking it last night. If he has a broken ankle, that's pretty crazy he finished that game.

SPATCH 10-25-2010 01:48 PM

This whole thing is sooo gay

Ming the Merciless 10-25-2010 01:49 PM

Wow. Stud.

BigRichard 10-25-2010 01:49 PM

Many people called it. He wouldn't finish the season.

Brett Favre-QB- Vikings Oct. 25 - 3:36 pm et

Vikings coach Brad Childress revealed Monday that Brett Favre has been diagnosed with two fractures in his left ankle.
Favre has an "avulsion" fracture (when a ligament separates a piece of bone from the primary bone) and a stress fracture in ankle, which was surgically repaired this offseason. Coach Brad Childress won't rule out Favre for Week 8 against New England, but also said Favre's consecutive starts streak will have no impact on his playing status. According to beat writer Tom Pelissero, it "sure sounds like there's a real danger of him missing this game." Favre won't need another surgery, but is currently in a protective boot.

Is "ankle" some sort of code for "vagina"?

OnTheWarpath15 10-25-2010 01:52 PM

Goddammit.

Part of me loves this because I'm sick of all the Favre drama.

Another part hates it because Percy Harvin has been great the past few weeks for my fantasy team, and this destroys his value, while increasing Peterson's.

**** this guy right in his Croc wearing, small wang picture snapping ass.

I know I feel the same way but you gots to admire the spunk of someone playing with a broken ankle. I really gave some props to Phillip Rivers for playing with a torn up knee and playing damn well. But my admiration of their toughness doesn't mean I admire them as people or even players.

I am guessing this guy will end up, not being able to wipe his own butt when he is 60.

The guy has played in close to 300 consecutive games at the QB position.

Love him or hate him, I think he's earned being called "tough."

That's why he was waving off the trainers, I am sure they would have figured it out. THe guy wants to play the game big time for sure and is not just there to pick up a check. YOu may not like some things about the guy but you got to respect that. The vast majority would have limped to the sidelines and called it a season.

Yeah I can agree with that, but IMO had he retired as a Packer before all of that drama bullshit started they'd have statues built in tribute to him all over the friggin place.

He has been playing strictly for his own ego for years. If it was about money, he had many better opportunities to grab it.

Very true, but, when does it become apparent that you are hurting your team by continuing to play with an injury like that? That should be the biggest concern for a team player.

What the hell...is it even physically possible to play an entire game on a broken ankle? I'm no doctor, but I have to think that's a pretty damn important body part for a football player.

I am sure he didn't get to that level by not believing he was the man who could take them to the promised land.

Frosty 10-25-2010 02:19 PM

I guess I'll be TiVoing Monday Night Countdown and watching it on fast forward tonight. With Favre's ankle, the Cowboys and a Manning, there will be about 1.5 minutes of interesting content out of the 90 minutes.

Skyy God 10-25-2010 02:19 PM

The same ankle he delayed surgery on until May? Say it ain't so, Captain Cockshot.

It's true. I do love watching him throw game-ending pick sixes, especially in the playoffs.

Chiefnj2 10-25-2010 02:21 PM

99.9% of the time teams will not disclose, with any particularity, the extent or exact nature of an injury, unless the player is going to miss extended time and/or go to IR.

Pretty odd.

LAWL.

It's still kind of funny to think that Favre throws with more velocity on a broken ankle than maybe 29 QB's in the league.

Art Vader 10-25-2010 02:26 PM

How epic would it have been had Harvin got that 2nd foot down?

Tavaris Jackson is pretty ****ing awful so I doubt he's hurting them all that much.

Interesting stat of the day: among QBs with 100 or more attempts in 2010, only McNabb, Favre, Matt Moore, and Derek Anderson have more interceptions than TDs.

In case the facepalm wasn't clear, I was being embarrassed for my alma mater. Both Moore and DA are Beavers.

He'll retire within 2 weeks. It'll take 2 weeks to reach an agreement on how much $ he can keep.

I'll tell you this, when I saw him his rookie year at Mankato for the scrimmage with the Chiefs....he had a rocket.

I mean, I was wow'd with his arm strength compared to everyone else. The difference was like watching a HS pitcher with a 90mph fastball throw compared to the others.

At the time, I thought he was going to be very good. His weakness is definitely NOT in his arm....I'd guess it's higher.

Zaiko 10-25-2010 04:15 PM

As a GB fan, I want him to keep playing. TJack has done some good things before, and I'm afraid he's going to be better right now.
