San Diego (more specifically.. North County area)
Going to be in San Diego this weekend and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions regarding things to see or places to eat... I'll be in Carlsbad/Rancho Santa Fe area...
I'm visiting a lady friend and would REALLY like to take her someplace she has never been... so I need help regarding cool but possibly somewhat obscure places ... HOPEFULLY in the North County region. (Carlsbad, Del Mar, Encinitas, Rancho Santa Fe, etc) Ok Planet.. what ya got for me? |
Man, you gotta get you some BBQ out there. Just about every street corner has amazing stuff. Stuff yourself fat.
|
THANKS PHIL! I'll get right on that! :D

PM 2bikemike. He's inland but knows all the favorites. I personally enjoyed Ichiban's in Mission Beach. Best sushi I've ever had.

If you see Roxanne there, tell her she still has my <3

I don't get up to North County much except for work.
Not sure what your looking for exactly but 2 places that I will go that are more north for me but southwest of where you'll be is Jakes or Posieden in Del Mar both ocean views. Stone Brewery seems to be a popular spot. I have not been there but they do a good business. Might be more of a novelty. You can look them up on the internet. If your flying in to Lindbergh around lunch time C-Level has good food and atmosphere they are right on San Diego Bay. If your gonna be in the Gas Lamp area Downtown San Diego there are lots of great places. One thing we like to do is take people to the top of the Hyatt right next to Seaport Village. There is a nice bar up there and the views are incredible. Like Irish said you can PM me if you have any questions or want more specific information. |

Here is a place you might be interested in: http://www.cavaillonrestaurant.com/location.html Its a French restaurant. Really good food. Can be pricey. In a nice location in Del Sur, which is not that far from where you will be. Here is another place, The Chart House: http://www.chart-house.com/ One in Encinitas. There is Fidels: http://fidelslittlemexico.com/ Good Mexican food. Just a few there. Really depends on how far south you want to go. If you want go farther south, say to Torrey Pines or La Jolla, there are other places I can recommend. HTH |
Also, Fish Market in Del Mar is good, and if Authentic Mexican is what you are craving Tony's Jacal in Del Mar is good as well!
Also, En Fuego in Del Mar is hoppin, good margies and tacos! |
If you like burger places you have to check out Hodad's!

If you like watching fat gay naked men walk around you could go to Black's Beach.

Georges at the Cove roof top terrace is also a great place to watch the sun set. It will also set you back a few bucks. You can then go down to Seal beach but there are no fat gay naked men walking around.

"Tango" in Escondido is an excellent restaurant with a great wine selection.

THANKS! I am checking out all the recommendations now!

You HAVE to go to Senor Grubby's in Carlsbad. Best tacos ever. My homeboy used to live in Carlsbad, and even now that he lives in LA we still make the trip just to eat there whenever I go visit.

Jake's Del Mar is right on the water. You can watch the sunset over the Pacific if you ask for one of the table in back. Just ate there about three weeks ago... Yum!

We ended up going to Jake's in Del Mar... fantastic place. Was out last night in Santa Monica and may end up staying here a few more days... enjoying it but MAN, I have never seen so many crap drivers... I fully understand the road rage out here now.
