Thread on ignore

I know the ignore feature is there for posters, but is there a way to put entire threads on ignore?

Donger 11-02-2010 12:26 PM

Thread Tools - Ignore this Thread

I've never done it (didn't know it was there until now).

Mr. Laz 11-02-2010 12:33 PM

for firefox you can use Ffvb management tool

ignore threads, highlight threads, ignore users ... bunch of stuff

Just don't click on it? Impulse challenged?

Bugeater 11-02-2010 12:38 PM

Is it the "PIIHB" thread or the "bang my mom" thread?

DJ's left nut 11-02-2010 12:39 PM

Uh....don't click on it?

For ****'s sake, get over yourself.

DMAC 11-02-2010 12:41 PM

Sick of being tempted by the "Streaming Adult Websites" thread eh?

Hog's Gone Fishin 11-02-2010 12:43 PM

You should put this website on Ignore.

oh shut the **** up, nutboy

maybe he is at work and want to ignore the "oh shit moment" thread because he doesn't want his co-workers to see the word "shit" on his screen whenever they walk by.

or maybe it's none of your dam business and you can either help the guy or take your own asshole advice and stay the **** out of the thread.

Bane 11-02-2010 01:30 PM

The threads need more ignores.

Sometimes I ignore the depressing threads, so I don't have to be reminded of them.

gblowfish 11-02-2010 01:36 PM

I'm putting this request on iggy.

Frosty 11-02-2010 01:36 PM

I use the ignore thread option sometimes and it has nothing to do with being offended or hiding something from others who might see my screen. I couldn't give two shits about 2010 Nebraska football, World Cup, basketball, hockey or any other number of huge threads that hover around the first page for extended periods of time. Using the ignore thread option cleans up the front page. It isn't a big deal either way but it's there, so I use it.

All I do is not open the thread if I don't like thread title. Pretty simple to me.

Frazod 11-02-2010 01:44 PM

It's a very useful feature, IMO. Threads about shit like NASCAR, golf, and wrestling don't exist in my world. It's great.

That's too much work. We need an automated solution that will know whether or not we will like a thread and ignore it if necessary.

Sorry. That was just one of the more recent examples.

I would start a thread about 2010 Oregon State football but it would be me and the crickets in there.

Yeah but you can miss out on some good ones like that!

This. DaFace, make it happen!

Oh, I understand. I was tempted to put it on ignore myself after the Texas game.

Well, I can't quite get to that level, but the FfVb software mentioned above can filter out threads based on prefix or words in the title, so you could at least get rid of all the KU threads if you don't want to see them or something like that.

I like your thinking.

Yeah, I used that for a while, but every time I'd refresh the front page, I'd see one of the threads for a split second before it disappeared, and then I'd wonder if I was missing something good. It would be easier for all of us if the board could just read our minds.

The damn thing can't even stay up consistently as it is - you expect it to become a psychic? :p

That's cool. I'd prefer to just nuke Lawrence, but I guess this is safer from a fallout perspective. :)

Thanks, Laz. I'll give that a try

For the record, I'm retired so it isn't an issue of work. My nephew moved up from CA and his two girls, ages 8 and 10 often stay the night with me. I have three 22" monitors (with ATI "Eyefinity") and at times have the CP off to one side. You can draw your own conclusions of why I would like to weed out some less than stellar offerings.

And for you young folks thinking this old Navy salt can't handle the content here. . .well, just go piss up a rope.
