Al Davis Question
Seeing Al Davis on TV last week got me thinking. Is he the last remaining original AFL owner that is 1) Still Alive and 2) The only one still an "active" owner of their franchise?
|
I think Bud Adams is still rolling with the Titans. He forced Fischer to go with Vince Young last year...
|
He'll be the next to die .

I thought of Bud Adams, and he was brought up already. What about Ralph Wilson?
|
Ralph Wilson.
|
Ralph Wilson?
|
I think Davis is already dead.

Ralph Wilson

Ralph Wilson needs more carries!

I didn't know either of them was still active. I never hear anything about them. Thanks, so that leaves 3 of the "Foolish Club". Did Davis own the team from the beginning or did he buy into it?

Al was the Managing General Partner of the franchise. At the beginning he was in for 10%. I believe there were a dozen other men in the general partnership at that time. 1963 or 1966.
|
He predictably snaked his way into 67 percent.

F*** Al Davis. Al can die in a fire for all I care and his wooden teeth can burn with him... So, what was the question? Oh, yeah, he's old...
|
Al Davis did not become the majority owner of the Raiders until 2005. While he was the face of the team ( Managing Partner ?) he was never the majority owner. McGaugh (sp?) was the most recent until his death and then the family and Davis fought out the value in court. Al Davis has been a minority owner.
Al Davis was not an original owner. Not a consideration with Hunt, Adams, Wilson...etc. |

I would have sworn Ralph Wilson died this year

As "batshit" crazy Al Davis is, if it hadn't been for his Tenacity and Abrasiveness the AFL probably wouldn't have been such a problem for the NFL and wouldn't have been absorbed.
all interested parties should watch the HBO documentary, "AFL, Rebels With A Cause" fantastic information there. apparently When Mr. Hunt was negotiating with the NFL, the AFL was making little progress. So the AFL decided to vote Al Davis as Chief negotiator, the NFL knew there was no dealing with Davis and soon after the NFL caved and absorbed the AFL. |

Al "the mummy" Davis actually died several years ago. They just use CGI to make it look like he is up in his box wearing those ridiculous "please don't shit myself" jogging suits.

Davis started out from '60 through '63 as an assistant for the Chargers before joining the Raiders as a coach. He later ( late 60's?) purchased 10% of the team. Finally became a majority owner in 2005. He is not an original owner by any means. Ed McGah was the owner of the Raiders.

You narrow chin and floppy ears...
Bust on a HOF idol. At least Al's son didnt raped his handicapped sister in law while she was in a wheelchair like Hunt Jr did Theres a POS eh? Raped his own handicapped sister-in-law The sister shit I get- being its the norm in Missouri But taking advantage of a handicapped person and raping them? Nice going there Hunts |
Ralph Wilson - 92
Bud Adams - 87 Al Davis - 81 Al Davis is the young whippersnapper of the group. |
I'm not sure how to answer this. First off, I'm not sure he is actually alive. I think the Raiders have been doing the weekend at Bernies thing with old Al Davis for some years now.
