The Kansas City Chiefs WILL be 2010 AFC West Champions...
and anyone who thinks anyone else is the favorite right now is a fucking clueless pessimistic moron. This thread is directed at those idiots to paint the clearer, more complete picture.
The Chiefs weren't supposed to win this game for sure today. There's a reason the Chiefs were favored to win the division earlier in the week while at the same time the Raiders were favored to win this game. This wasn't a gimme game coming in, especially when you consider the rivalry. There was an extremely high chance it was going to be close, and it was. The Chiefs lost a close game. Would you rather they have gotten blown out? Yes, the refs fucked up a million times, so did a million players on both teams (hence the 30+ penalty calls). Making excuses is for bitches, so quit it. Coming into today, I felt if KC won this game there was a chance (not saying it was probable, but possible) they could end up with a bye in the wild card round. On top of that and most importantly, the division would be almost surely locked up even with a potential SD surge. Thinking this coming in I'm obviously disappointed. In fact I'm really, really, really ****ing disappointed, but it's not the end of the world. There's so many good things about this team I can't imagine how someone can be anything more than just disappointed the game today didn't go their way. One positive coming out of this loss is that the team is going to be under a lot more pressure each week now. Experience in those types of games goes a long way, especially when they're playing in the playoffs. The ultimate goal is a Super Bowl win. It's not supposed to happen this year, and it's almost certainly not going to. But one realistic ultimate goal for this season is to win a playoff game. That's something KC hasn't done in 17 years, and with the Chiefs still being the favorite to win the division and being 4-0 at home this year, it's definitely possible. Is that really a situation to be mad about? I mean come on. Brandon Flowers got burned a lot today by a WR that's fast as ****, and I see multiple threads about him. Why don't you morons think before you make as stupid a thread as that? I mean seriously, are you joking? You have never seen a shutdown CB have a bad game? Clearly, Brandon Flowers should be benched. But we don't have to worry about him being in the game anymore with as good a coaching staff as we have, they will obviously know he's terrible too. Speaking of coaches, we have the best coaching staff in the division, and you can argue we have the best staff in the NFL. Coaching is a pretty damn important thing in sports, just FYI. So this is on our side. Oh yeah, we also have the easiest remaining schedule out of KC, SD, OAK. To people saying we won't make the playoffs, why don't you actually look at a situation before you say something so stupid? Look at KC's schedule, look at Oaklands, look at San Diego's. Denver? Stick a fork in those ****ing losers. Then look at the standings. Seriously, saying we're not a playoff team is just a stupid thing to say. It's week 10 now, and we're a team that is PROBABLY going to be in the playoffs, that's not a playoff team? Is there a chance SD makes a run and wins the division again? YES, I admit that. Is it very likely at all? No. Can Oakland win the division? Yes. Will they? Probably not. We also CURRENTLY sit in first place AFTER 3 of our 4 toughest games. Yes we lost all 3 of those but we were as close as you can possibly come to winning without doing so in 2 of them. So we have the division lead, an extremely favorable schedule compared to OAK and SD, a really good defense, an amazing coaching staff, a QB that can at least take care of the ball. So please take a chill pill, sit back, and realize that this team is PROBABLY going to win the division this season. That means the playoffs will PROBABLY be at Arrowhead. Is it for sure? No. But it's probable, so be positive. There's a lot to be happy about this season. GO CHIEFS! |

Im betting KC will end up 3rd in the division. Do I WANT them to win? Yes, of course. Reality has to win over fantasy sometime. We have a very good nucleus but we are not quite "there" yet. Chiefs/raiders is almost always a close game so this game doesn't really define us as a team but SD is playing well and getting BETTER every week, oakland is much improved and doing better every week and we are left saying "what if" every week lately. We are close but not there.

Hey, if you are going to effin yell at us, please use the caps lock.

Sweet. We had the angry thread. Now this to boost my spirits. And I agree with the OP.

I don't think it's an absolute.

Charlie weis is holding this team back.

LMAO this outta be fun

KC had to win today the keep SD at bay. They did not. Rivers is beaming with confidence. They are getting their weapons back. The Chiefs will finished over .500 but SD will be going to the playoffs as AFCW Champs.

Oakland is playing real well as of late and they seem to be on a roll. For Chiefs to stop their momentum in their stadium will surely show that they have turned the corner and could pave the way to getting into the playoffs for the first time since 2007. Looking forward to watching them on Sunday. I hate being right. Anyway we are 5-3. A lot better than anyone expected. We still have a shot to go 5-3 the rest of the way, and make the playoffs. We are not a Super Bowl team. We are what we are which is an up and coming team that needs another off season of good free agency moves and another great draft. We are young and full of potential. We are a lot better off than when Herm and CP were running things. |
An AFC West crown means little to me
The Chargers have been the ugly bridesmaid for years big ****ing deal |

Damn it. Winning the best better not ruin our chances of drafting a true #1 receiver to go with Bowe, Moeaki, and McCluster.
I would say QB, but I think we've already blown that(and I'm not ONLY talking about winning too many games this year)... |
The way I look at it is that if we lose in SD, we are only 1 game up on them. And we still have the Titans, which I consider tougher than that the Raiders on the road.
My software still says we have a 65% chance of winning the division, but that is based on a presumption that our median number of wins is 11. I think that is pretty optimistic. 10 wins would be a great season, but probably doesn't win the division. |
Only if Jamarr Charles gets more carries!
|
What did you really say in that long OP that combats anything that anyone else is saying right now? I mean, I don't even disagree with you, I'm just not hearing anything other than "I'm ****ing right, and you guys are reeruned, so myaaaaaaahhhhh!"
Help me out here. |
Amazing what one game can do to projections.
also, anyone that thinks San Diego is out of it is crazy. |
It was actually worse then you think, Chiefs ......
1. were spotted 7 points by the refs on that B.S. pass interference call. 2. Benifitted from bad ref calls against the Raiders 2. were handed the ball on the Nick Miller fumble, That led to another 7 ponts 4. Raiders screwed out of 3 points when Jano missed that field goal 6. Raiders were missing half the team Zach Miller, Aso, Bruce, Rolando, Branch, Chaz, murphy Can you imagine what the score would have been if they were playing ? All that and the Raiders still won , wow |
A win today & it was over....now it will take a few more weeks....but it's inevitable:
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS - 2010 AFC WEST CHAMPS! |

I'm not convinced. Remember last year when Sandy Eggo started slow & then ran the table in the 2nd half of the season? Don't look now but they are still the most talented team in the division. Oakland is much better than it has been in the last 7 years, but still has lotsa problems. The Raider offense has recently been non-existent for the SF game & also in the first halves of the Seattle & KC games. KC has gone 2-3 in their last 5 & just barely beat the lowly Bills in OT for one of those wins. Sandy Eggo is looking like they're starting to heat up right now & they ain't that far behind.
|
SD will go 7-1 in the 2nd half. They only probable loss for them now is @ Indy and if the Colts keep dropping like flies, they could even win that game. The chiefs will finish over .500 (9-7) but SD is going to the playoffs.

RAIDERS ARE BACK!!!! Chefs are going back to the kitchen!!

This board is so incredibly naive it blows my mind.
Sure, we could definitely end up winning the divison still. The odds of it happening are pretty decent. However, about 95% of this board expected us to win this game if you go by the confidence poll from earlier in the week. Of course we shouldn't have expected to win this game, and there are at least 3 more games on our schedule that we shouldn't expect to win. We are a solid team, but we have some definite weak points that can be exposed. Most of CP was too down on the team heading into the season, and lately has been way too high on the team. 8 or 9 wins is about what we should expect, and winning the division will be more up to Oakland and San Diego than us. |
The Raiders are clearly the better team.
They won today without their best offensive and defensive players Bruce Gradkowski Louis Murphy Chaz Schilens Nnamdi Asomugha Rolando McClain John Henderson Tyvon Branch for 2 Quarters |
The better team? Both teams played like ass.
|
Quote:
Nnamdi Asomugha and Zach Miller, the Raiders two best players on both sides of the ball, didn't suit up. Louis Murphy, the raiders leading receiver, didn't play. John Henderson didn't play.Bruce Gradkowski didn't play. Rolando McClain and Tyvon Branch both were injured and missed most of the game. The Chiefs were only missing Dexter McCluster, and let's be honest, he wouldn't have made that much of a difference had he played. |

10-6 for KC and San Diego, but they would have us on the conference record tiebreak, 8-4 to our 7-5. There's a hell of a lot of football left though, and anything can happen. Losses at Seattle, at San Diego, and vs Tennesse for KC Loss @ Indy for SD |
