Reason # 10078 I love Jamaal Charles

On Cassel's fumble/incompletion in the third quarter that a Bronco picks up and attempts to return...

... Charles recovers from the 39 yard line to outrace the entire field to cut off the LB at the 5 yard line to save a hypothetical touchdown.

Kid's pretty good at football.

Sweet Daddy Hate 12-10-2010 05:43 AM

He needs more carries.

kysirsoze 12-10-2010 05:47 AM

Charles needs more defensive snaps.

spanky 52 12-10-2010 05:57 AM

Please stay healthy Mr Charles. He's my favorite Chief.

Bane 12-10-2010 06:14 AM

You mean this?

How could any Chiefs fan not love this guy? If he was a featured tailback and could stay healthy he would smash all of the NFL rushing records. I couldn't emagine what he would have done with Vermiel's offensive line blocking for him. Other teams would just concede before the coin toss. Or perhaps strike a deal and spot him three touchdowns if we promised to bench him for that game. The numbers would have been insane.

Ronnie Lott was on the SF radio station yesterday for an interview talking about a person's character showing on the playing field (i.e. topic of discussion was Albert Hanysworth).

He said there is a lot to be said about a guy who gets knocked down on defense and then gets back up to still pursue the person with the ball

I see this Jamaal Charles clip, and I think back to what Ronnie said

Especially considering one was a bitch ass move made because Ayers was getting his ass handed to him all day,and the other was a RB delivering an EPIC hit on a LB.

RealSNR 12-10-2010 11:54 AM

I'll be honest.

I hated the pick in 2008.

I was a giant reerun.

DID YOU KNOW -

Charles finished up his last year at Texas with more rushing yards, receiving yards, and touchdowns than Mark Ingram had when he won the Heismann?*

*I have not researched this. It was just info passed along to me by a person that generally knows their shit.

Demonpenz 12-10-2010 12:02 PM

Charles didn't get the rock enough at Texas. That would be a sweet Sports Illustrated cover with Priest Ricky Williams and Charles all in longhorn gear.

I still wish Albet had put his boot right in his face when he was trying to get up.:#

We drafted this guy and I assumed we were drafting a 3rd down back. I'm sure all the other teams did too. Hell, I'll bet ya Herm INTENDED to draft a 3rd down back.

Charles is clearly so much more than that. He's Barry Sanders without all the negative plays.

And he has HELD UP. No injuries. Man, I hope we do whatever we can to protect his career in KC. This offense will always be something as long as he's playing.

The comparison to Sanders is off the mark.

I said it at the time of the draft, and I still see it today.

Charles has the same kind of vison, patience and ability to set up his blocks that Priest had, and has the same kind of ability to burst to the hole, as well.

His speed is what sepates him from Priest.

Sanders, for all his elusiveness never set up his blocks the way that guys like Priest and Charles do/did, or a Walter Payton did.

If Sanders had that patience and block setting ability, he'd have run for 20,000+ yards.

He lost a wager that the Broncos would have a better record than the Chiefs this year.

That was his sig all season. I'm pretty sure his punishment is that he has to keep it as his sig for an indefinite amount of time :D
