Rock N Poll: Round 1, Heat 12

I'm going to have to do a lot of youtubing on this one. I only know two of these.

Drum solo as I put up the poll!

DJ's left nut 03-07-2011 03:58 PM

Seriously - **** whoever nominated a GD Nickelback song.

And if you're going to nominate one...are we really going to nominate the one that is so clever as to rime "Get in" with...uh..."get in"....TWICE!

That had to be tongue in cheek, it's possibly the worst song I've ever heard.

Dante84 03-07-2011 04:06 PM

Yeah **** nickelback.

Canadian?

Cornstock 03-07-2011 04:20 PM

In the history of rock and roll bands there couldn't be a better band to choose than Nickleback? Really?

MOhillbilly 03-07-2011 04:22 PM

train, champion, DKM (even though they are ghey now and i hate the irish.)

patteeu 03-07-2011 05:54 PM

This one was a little hard for me. I've always liked the Steve Jones song, but it's not very exceptional for anything other than it's connection to the Sex Pistols. Paradise City is one of the few Guns 'n Roses songs that I really like. Neither of them made the cut for me. Wicked Garden is a great song too, but...

Dropkick Murphys, Blackfoot, and Bruce Springsteen were my picks.

Old Dog 03-07-2011 05:58 PM

A bunch of great ones will get left out of the top nine of the inclusion poll and could easily take 3rd in yet another round.

Gonzo 03-07-2011 06:04 PM

I'd rather eat moldy spaghetti from a used colostomy bag than listen to Nickleback.

Dropkick Murphys ftw.

I don't see Bob Dylan on this poll...

Obviously an error on my part.

On another note, I seeded in the inclusionary songs, desperately hoping that one or more would break up the juggernaut of Heat 23. Alas, none of them fell into that heat.

Psyko Tek 03-07-2011 06:27 PM

I have failed
did not see the murphy's

voted nickelback

I am very sorry

Whoever votes for Nickelback, even as a joke, needs to have his testicles removed with an ice cream scoop.

DaFace 03-07-2011 06:58 PM

There should have been a limit of one nomination per person or something. There are WAY too many crappy songs in these lists.

There wasn't an actual nomination thread. Luckily most of the garbage will be sorted out this first round.

I sure hope so.

How many more heats are there going to be?

Rep. In all seriousness, Working on the Highway is my second-favorite Springsteen song after Cadillac Ranch. It is indeed a rocking song, and I hope people listen to it before they vote.

I can't find a good recording of it, but here's a decent version that misses most of the good guitar.

This may be the best-sounding one, but the song doesn't start until about 45 seconds. Repeat: the first 45 seconds are NOT part of the song. It's just a transition.

There's like thirtysomething total.

Rain Man 03-07-2011 07:10 PM

Working on the Highway is probably in my top five list of all songs, and it's definitely rock and roll in the most classic sense, so it's in.

We are the Champions also gets my vote, even though it's far from Queen's best. After Working on the Highway, this is a very weak heat.

I guess I'll give the Dropkick Murphys a vote for the instruments, even though the singing was horrible.

35 heats in the first round. Vote Springsteen in this heat and let's get the flotsam out of there.

Nickelback is a quality band.

cdcox 03-07-2011 07:55 PM

I can't believe how many people have never heard the song Train, Train. Because no one could hear this song and not vote for it.

It's got a nice train sound at the beginning.

I really like the train sound at the beginning. But then it gets derailed and eventually becomes more like a train wreck.

We need a good Working on the Highway audio to convince the voters. Can you find a good one?

I love that song.

I love that song.

I love The Boss (saw him live on The River tour) and no offense as we all know what we like but I can name at least 20 other Springsteen songs I'd vote for before Working On The Highway.

Nickleback better advance

Pitt Gorilla 03-07-2011 10:54 PM

I'm sure all the little KU fans think they're being cute voting for Nickelback.

MoreLemonPledge 03-07-2011 11:57 PM

Yeah, Nickelback is on the list but not Radiohead.

I think I shall decline to participate any further.

yhf 03-08-2011 01:15 AM

So I had a fit and said the rock'npoll was shit but I still feel angsty. Think Imma picket the rest of the poll. At least until I log off. Might even picket tomorrow!? So uh... BOOOOOOOOOOOO HISSSSSSSSSSS. This poll is baseless and informed by assholes, BOOOOOOOOOO. Picket Picket.

Rain Man 03-08-2011 02:34 PM

Morelemonpledge and yhf are making more threats than Iran's ambassador to the United Nations. But when that critical vote comes up to provide aid to Israel, they'll be in the chair voting.

Rain Man 03-08-2011 04:55 PM

Shuttin' it down. In the heat of the obscure, we'll advance

Wicked Garden
We Are The Champions
Paradise City

And damn all but 19 of you for not voting for Working on the Highway.
