The hated Donks' first pick.

It looks like it's gonna be between Vonn Miller, Marcel Dareus, or possibly Patrick Peterson. I absolutely hate that they are in this position. Two years ago we were picking third and had to take Tyson Jackson. Can you imagine if the three names above were available to us then? :banghead:

Here's my curiousity:

As Chiefs fans and Donk haters (you cannot be just one), what is the order of your preference for them to pick from those three names? And why?

Titty Meat 04-15-2011 09:27 PM

Patrick Peterson
Marcel Dareus
Vonn Miller

Peterson #1 because corners in the league have less of an impact than a dominate D-tackle or pass rusher.

That's exactly my order. Vonn Miller looks like the next Derrick Thomas.

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-15-2011 10:55 PM

Dareus
Miller
Peterson

DT's bust at the highest rate. Miller is a better fit in a 3-4 than a 4-3, and would get dominated at the POA as a RDE, IMO. Ask the Jets how much shut down corners are worth.

The worst scenario is none of the above, it's if the Broncos take Gabbert.

You shit your mouth. If that happens I will blame you and eat my cereal out of the bottom of your skull.

Seriously though, there is no way they go QB. They think they have something in Timmy.

I don't think Elway is sold on him. I think it's a very low chance, but it does exist within the realm of possibility.

Worst case for the Broncos, best case for the Chiefs. Please take Gabbert Donks.

I don't want to see Peterson or Miller in this division. Miller would slaughter our tackles, especially working in tandem with Dumervil, and Peterson on Bowe just means Cassel has no one else to throw to. Dareus was a bit of a one year wonder, but if he puts it all together, he could be an absolute terror at almost any position in any front. He's not Suh, but he's got a lot of the same traits.

Dareus
Peterson
Miller

But they are going to have their choice of a really freaking good player with their pick.

Again, please take Gabbert. I'd much rather have a dysfunctional QB controversy than face a complete stud on the defense.

That'd be the best case if they took Blaine Grbac.

Bewbies 04-15-2011 11:39 PM

I hope whoever they take busts. HARD.

Taking a DT in the top 3 is very, very dangerous....

Good point. I had forgotten that the Donks are switching to 43.

Sadly that's true. It bugs me real bad that we didn't have such choices 2 years ago at 3.

I would jump with joy and dance the Middle Eastern reptile dance until the Chiefs pick, if they did that.

a) I hate to be the grammarian here, but IT'S ****ING "DOMINANT". WHY THE **** DO PEOPLE SAY DOMINATE? Dominate is a verb, "to dominate"; dominant is an adjective: "a dominant team".

b) I hope they take Cam Newton. Play him out to be whatever you will, but if Carolina passes on him, I hope they jump on him. Dude will not be shit. Dude won't be a maggot on the shit on Roger Goodell's shoe.

salame 04-16-2011 02:54 AM

they wont be taking von miller

Chiefs=Champions 04-16-2011 03:28 AM

It sucks that they have that choice to make. Hopefully they do something stupid.

My order would be:

Dareus
Miller
Peterson.

Yeah, we had to have Tyson because Curry and Macklin suck. Its not like there was a Harvin or an Oher in that draft that could improve our pitiful team. Thank God we got Jackson.

Hog's Gone Fishin 04-16-2011 05:14 AM

I expect then to trade up to take Mallett with the 1st overall

Casserly says Newton has one thing in common with Ryan Leaf and Pamela Anderson.

Von Miller would not play DE for the Broncos. John Fox said he would be our SAM. I wouldn't be surprised if he was on the line on 3rd downs though with Ayers playing DT.

Garcia Bronco 04-16-2011 07:50 AM

if they take a db with the number 2 pick, I'll be disappointed.

Hey guys, quick question - it wont let me create threads for some reason, how many posts do I need in order to create a thread?

Yeah I couldn't think of a name and I was reading a post on the Bills.

But does anyone know how many posts you need to start a thread?

You need enough of them.

There is precedent for that.... trading a truckload to use a 1st on Tebow.

& sometimes those top picks don't pan out like "safest pick in the draft" Robert Gallery. Or #1 overall Drankmarcus. All we can do is hope for the worst.

One of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn't belong. Much like Tyson Jackson, Aaron Curry will not live up to his draft position.

Okie_Apparition 04-16-2011 10:10 AM

With a raging hangover & no liquor allowed in the draftroom. Elway projectile vomits on the draft board leaving the room scrambling

That was their previous HC/FO. Not that I give a lot of credit to their present ones.

I actually typed this point by point yesterday but never submitted it because I wanted to expend my views on Peterson a bit before doing so and didnt have the time to do so last night.

I think that if they draft him (or Prince) they will have a scenario similar to the one Washington had awhile ago when they initially took Champ Bailey and had Deion mentor him and bring him along.

Champ is at that point in his career where he is still pretty good, but time is very limited and he seemingly wants to help develop his successor.

The key (to me at least) to drafting well starts with hitting on your first rounders (even if they arent homeruns) year in and year out and I dont think you can get much more of a sure thing than Peterson as a future shut down guy if he is able to play and learn from one of the better corners of the last few years.

If they took Miller, you could run right at them all game and it would be very hard for them to win in this league with two ends that are liabilities in the run game. Dareus seems to me to be fairly air tight, but as Hamas suggested (and I typed last night) DL bust out at a high rate and the chances he traslates into the difference maker he was in college as a pro is pretty slim.

LOL @ sacoshit calling Dareus a one year wonder and then comparing him to Suh.

Dude surely is a fools fool.

Proof that no matter how many big words you know how to use, it doesnt make you smart.

Urc Burry 04-16-2011 07:04 PM

Patrick Peterson is one of the best CB prospects coming out of college in a LONG time, and Von Miller is going to be a beast...so I guess I hope they draft Dareus

Frankie 04-28-2011 10:17 AM

According to the NFL Channel there has been a dramatic shift in the Donk's draft room from Dareus to Vonn Miller. Looks like now WE have to deal with THEIR Derrick Thomas for a decade or so. :(

I love Vonn Miller, too bad if the Donks cash in on him, dude is a BALLER.

Everything I see of him reminds me of DT. Hope he fizzles in the Donks' 43 D and we sign him. ;)

Miller would be an awful pick. I expect this smoke to clear and for them to take the big guy they should. That being either Dareus or Peterson, the latter of which is probably thicker than Miller himself. Heh.

tooge 04-28-2011 11:47 AM

I'm prettty confident that no matter who they pick there, the organization will continue to be poorly run. Bad owner, inexperienced GM and president of ops.

HolmeZz 04-28-2011 11:47 AM

Do you people understand football? Miller would be an awful pick if they're running a 4-3. We should be praying it happens.

Los Pollos Hermanos 04-28-2011 12:49 PM

southstands303 South Stands Denver
My source tells me that the Broncos are planning to select Von Miller with the second pick. They are not interested in trading down.
