2011 NHL Free Agency Thread
Free Agency starts in about 12 hours.
I think Vokoun goes to the Avs or stays in Florida and Richards signs with the Rangers. |
Any Avs fans out there?
If they don't sign Vokoun, who would they sign? |
Im sure this will turn out well...
Honestly how many CP members can name 5 (current) NHL players not named Crosby or Ovechkin (sp?) off the top of their head without cheating/looking it up? |

I'm hoping for Vokoun. If not him, I have absolutely no clue what we'll do in goal for next year.

In other news, Stewie's brother, Anthony, might be headed to St. Louis. D'Agostini is probably going to hit the open market. Blues didn't want to go into arbitration with him. |

Morphius, DaFace, me... pfft, we run this place. Watch your back, Blues boy. :D |

Is that possible? |
Really hoping the Blues sign Jovanovski.

There's rumors out there that the Blues are interested in Langenbrunner. |

If those F'ers go and start winning I'm gonna be pissed. |

Let the fun begin.

Let me know when the Devils sign someone good.

This team DESPERATELY needs an elite scorer, but we'll continue to go after role players - like we don't already have a ****ing roster full of them. |
Quote:
Won't be disappointed if the Blues don't sign someone on Day 1 of FA, but I'd be shocked if they didn't sign a quality player soon. D'Ags, reportedly, is close to resigning. |
Quote:
They aren't going to do that without getting an elite scorer, IMO. |
Flyers sign Jagr

Why is it with all the ****ing stupid threads ('what color is your hair', 'man poops on old lady', 'i thought that lady was dead' etc) every time someone creates a hockey thread some dickwad has to come in with a "hockey sucks!", "no one cares" style comment? Seriously, it's not like we make the thread titles misleading. If you don't like it stay out you unwelcome cock bag and go **** yourself. |
Flyers are going to be cleaning house this off season from the looks of it. I can't believe they got rid of Mike Richards.
And how good of a goalie is Ilya Bryzgalov? I don't watch the west too much. |
Ed Jovanowski back to FLA

If this happened, that would be awesome! The Avs are my 'other' team so him in an A-V-S jersey would be too cool.

Capitals trade Varlamov's rights to Avalanche Friday, 07.01.2011 / 2:00 PM / NHL Free Agency 2011 NHL.com The Washington Capitals have traded the rights to restricted free agent goaltender Semyon Varlamov to the Colorado Avalanche for a first-round pick in the 2012 Entry Draft and second-round selection in either 2012 or 2013. Varlamov was a first-round pick in 2006 and has competed with Michal Neuvirth, a second-round choice in the same draft, for the "goaltender of the future" tag in Washington ever since. The 23-year-old Russian goaltender has appeared in 59 regular-season games and 19 postseason contests for the Capitals. He replaced Jose Theodore in net for Washington during the 2009 and 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs, but missed a large portion of the 2010-11 campaign because of injury. With Theodore gone, Varlamov and Neuvirth were competing for the starting job, and it was Neuvirth who played every minute during the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs for the Capitals. |
Forget the Vokoun to A-V-S jersey then lol. Varlamov has potential, and was caught up in a Log Jam of the same type of goalie in Washington.

Heh...
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r...2/varlamov.png I was hoping for Vokoun, but there's a 10 year difference in age here, so Varlamov could obviously be more of a long term solution... or maybe they'll sign both. :) |

Now add Vokoun too.... |
according to Hockeybuzz.com,the Avs looking at signing Erik Cole.

The A-V-S got themselves a pretty damn big D-man. He seems to like to hit too!

Friday, 07.01.2011 / 3:57 PM / NHL Free Agency 2011 NHL.com The Montreal Canadiens have reportedly signed free agent wing Erik Cole and goalie Peter Budaj to multi-year contracts. According to TSN, Cole has inked a four-year, $18 million contract and Budaj was given a two-year, $2.3 million deal. The 28-year-old Budaj, who now becomes the backup to Carey Price in Montreal, has played all six of his NHL seasons with the Colorado Avalanche. He has a career record of 101-91-27 with a 2.83 goals-against average. He made 45 appearances in 2010-11 for Colorado, producing a 15-21-4 mark with a 3.20 GAA and .895 save percentage. |

The Blues gave up Eller last season to get Halak. Halak has a better playoff track record and most will say that Halak is probably a slightly more valuable player (if a little older). Don't forget - Halak beat Varlamov in the game 7 showdown. Eller doesn't have the value of a 2012 first rounder, I'm virtually certain of that. Let alone the 2nd rounder thrown in. I think the Avs overpaid a little here. |
Souray signs with Dallas

Quote:
Afterall, they've gotta spend the money somewhere to even reach the salary floor. They'll throw it at a couple of aging vets that will gladly take a 1-yr deal. If you have any expectations at all for this FA signing period, prepare to be disappointed. |
From Bob McKenzie:
Ponikarovsky gets $1.5M on a one year deal in Carolina. Ehrhoff to Buffalo is for 10 years and $40 million. O'Byrne re-signs with Col for 2 more years |
Quote:
I'm only optimistic because Army said ownership gave him a budget above the cap floor. Not expecting a Richards like signing. |
I'm 99.999999% sure that the Coyotes are intentionally going to tank this season.
|
Flyers back in on the Brad Richards sweepstakes. Calgary also to make a play for him
|
Tomas Fleischmann Signs with Florida

The guy had one "decent" season with 19G, 34A, and 53 pts...and he gets close to 4.5 mil per year? Pretty sick money...I wonder how this changes the complexity of things. What will the other top tier FA's above him get? |

Blues signed Brian Elliott. Haha.

Vokoun to the Caps, 1 yr 1.5 mil?? WTF??? Something does not seem right there.
