Is a Super Nintendo system worth anything

My son wants to trade his in but I know the local trade value on something that old will be shit. Just curious.

DMAC 07-21-2011 03:11 PM

Is your son 30?

Predarat 07-21-2011 03:14 PM

Its probably worth about $5 more then an Atari 7800.

Thig Lyfe 07-21-2011 03:14 PM

Actually, since SNES is vintage, you can probably fetch a decent price on ebay or craigslist. Don't take it to GameStop or Vintage Stock or anything like that. Plenty of nostalgic people out there willing to pay to have an old school system again.

nope 15. He just had to have the thing a few years back. Played it for a couple weeks and it has sat here ever since. Now he wants some money for it. I told him he would be lucky to get 10 bucks for it at the local trade shop. But they will turn around and sell it for 50.

listopencil 07-21-2011 03:15 PM

Is it original or the newer design?

original

ToxSocks 07-21-2011 03:16 PM

I own two. People still like them a lot and I bust mine out every once in awhile.

I own Super Mario All Stars.

Sell it on CL and you should be able to fetch $30.00 easy.

gamestop would probably buy it for $5 and sell it for $50

Sell that bitch online. You'll get quite a bit if you include games, accessories etc.. with it.

007 07-21-2011 03:21 PM

These are the games
Contra III
Super Metroid
Castlevania IV
Super Mario World

Even better. You can lure SNES purists to pay a little more.

Gamestop doesn't even take any system older than the xbox 360. I wouldn't trade hardware into them anyway.

Red Brooklyn 07-21-2011 03:56 PM

I'll give you a pack of Trident Layers.

That is fine. As long as feedback shows 100% with your 50 and people see this in your ad, you will be fine. I h8 eBay as well, but sometimes that is the only place to get rid of your random items, for example super nintendo

cdirty 07-21-2011 05:31 PM

my nephews are turning 4 soon. id love to get them an old school system to start out with.

Predarat 07-21-2011 05:33 PM

Super Nintendo with Super Punchout, sounds damn fun! Also the NHL games are too fun.

Molitoth 07-21-2011 05:56 PM

My father in law still has a SNES in the box.

Wonder what that's worth?

Saulbadguy 07-21-2011 06:37 PM

Craigslist.

KurtCobain 07-21-2011 09:37 PM

It's worth less than a pair of fuzzy socks.

I've got a buddy who knows everything there is to know about these things. Let me bring him down so he can take a look, and maybe we can work out a deal.

LMAO Pawn Stars

Make Chumly try it out first, in case it blows up.

Im wondering if these old systems have much value anymore? With the way Nintendo has made alot of these games downloadable through the Wii store, it would devalue the hardware some right?

QuikSsurfer 07-22-2011 12:26 PM

I'd keep it... He could get a small amount for it.

I sold a few systems back when I was a kid -- I usually regretted doing it a few years down the road.

Problem with old systems is they do not connect to HDTV's or they look like garbage on them.

Ima be hooking mine up this weekend to my HDTV. Curious to see how it looks. I doubt it looks any worse.

ToxSocks 07-22-2011 12:59 PM

I also have a Sega Genesis that I'll be hooking up.

They look better on tube tv's

With people being accustomed to Xbox's, ps3's, and beyond HD in pc gaming for many years, old systems just do not hold up anymore.
