Terrelle Pryor anyone?
it wasn't his fault, it was the system trying to keep him down
|
No.
|
Buffalo would make alot of sense for Pryor. He would fit Chan Gailey's mold for a QB, no real pressure to play right away with Fitzpatrick and Thiggy.
|
ya hes a niner fo sho
|
as long as it's a 5th or later ... i don't care.
maybe he can be our wildcat guy and losing Palko doesn't mean shit. |

Negative, Ghost Rider, the pattern is full.

Not no, but hell no.
|
If he wants to play a Dallas Clark type of role otherwise I wouldn't give a used jock strap for him as a QB.

He should lose weight and compete as a WR. He'll never make it as a QB.
|
I'd use an 8th round pick on him.
|
If this kid played in Colombia, Lawrence, Manhatten, or Lincoln, he would be a God around here. :)
|
I'd prefer Tim Tebow

I figure Buffalo or Oakland will take a shot on him. |

Is he as bad as everyones making him out to be?
65% 2,700 yards 8.5 avg and 27 tds to 11 int's doesn't seem that bad |

I wish we had a kid like that on the roster. |
People would say "fake" if that was posted in EPIC win/fail threads.

Looks like a high school football game play.

Pryor is fast, but he's more of a glider and he shies away from contact. He would rather run the ball out of bounds 5 yards before the sticks on 3rd down then take contact to get a first. Horribly inaccurate passer who throws a ball that nosedives into the ground. He is the epitome of a QB who can only win if he's beating you with his legs. Because everything about his passing game sucks. |
Quote:
Well, from what I've seen - he doesn't get rattled under pressure like the Cassholes of the world. Throwing mechanics are definitely off, Tebow-esque even, but seems to have a much stronger arm. Watching him last week, he moves like vick, but he's 6'6. Raiders are maybe going to win 6 games with their shoddy O-line and depth, but I kinda envy them, because the kid is ****ing electric when he's in. Me and my friend used to say Rex Grossman was the most exciting player in football because his every play seemed like either a perfect 50 yard bomb or a pick 6 or a fumble. Pryor should be the same, but with scrambles! |
People say he cant throw- I dunno.. he threw some pretty nice strikes last week, that one to his TE for a TD, was perfect- threaded it and put the ball where only his TE could get it-
He reminds me a lot of Randall Cunningham |
Quote:
Definitely Cunningham like. Will have to catch more Raider games this year. |
Nice interview with Pryor on NFL AM this morning. He was asked to compare himself to the read-option players in the league and he said they are more accurate then him with the ball. He identified the problem and has been trying to do everything in his power to get better at his weakness.
I'ld almost like the kid if I didn't despise Ohio State just slightly less than the Raiders. |

As far as him shying away from contact, I've seen zero evidence of that so far in his Raider career. Not sure he's the answer to the Raider QB problem long term, but if he continues to improve he might be. In any case, Pryor playing will at least make Raider football watchable in 2013. |

Shame he's in a $#ithole... |

The guy doesn't have the work ethic or intelligence to know the game mentally. He isn't a guy his teammates will respect. And he has horrible accuracy and throws a very ugly ball. His mechanics may have improved that, but the rest... That's not coach able. I bet Pryor puts together a few good games, then turns into shit as either fame gets to his head or more than likely, because he doesn't have the work ethic or intelligence to figure out defenses who learn how to scheme him. I'm not even a fan of cam Newton, but he is essentially a dumber, far less accurate version of cam. |

Is there ANY possibility we can make another team richer while ****ing ourselves in this?

Two seconds of googling later: "Pryor received rave reviews from quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo after last week's rookie minicamp. "The first thing is, everybody knows how hard he's working," DeFilippo told Comcast SportsNet Bay Area. "He's going to give himself a chance to be a good player in this league, because of his work ethic. He and I are in communication every day. He's a gym rat here in this building. He loves being here, loves talking football, loves being around, playing the game. He's getting better everyday. " |

Critics talk about his accuracy- It's not that bad.. his QB rating his pretty high.. Everyone wants to look at his college stats and disregard what he's doing in the NFL, and he's doing very well
I got this rot gut feeling he's gonna end up a pretty damn good QB thats gonna be real hard to defend Raiders OL is dogshit now that Veldheer is out,,,they need to add a couple players on that OL and if McFadden can stay healthy, eh.... Those douche nozzles are 55 million under the cap next year, they are gonna go all ape sh*t on bringing in big FA's What would really blow is if Pryor goes off but they dont win many games because of that defense then they draft Clowney and have 55 million dollars to spend in free agency Fark me |

He's super raw and might not ever work out but he's no t00l... |
Not just a no. But a hell no.

JFC. Hype around a QB because he had some preseason success and because his coaches said nice things about him.
You guys will be really disappointed when he has defenses that actually know how to stop his legs and that throw confusing defensive looks at him. |
They need to stop ****ing around and just make him a WR already.

You're basing everything on a compliment a QBs coach made about his guy. Because QB coaches have a history of saying bad things about their players. I'm actually not sure why I said I never spoke badly about OSU players. I can't remember the last OSU player I pimped out. I don't think any recently.
I will say this. It does look like he fixed his mechanics. Good for him. Maybe he has changed his behavior. Good for him. But sorry, when it comes to attitude adjustments, I've been consistently tough on players. I've been critical of Bray's attitude too and have laughed at Chiefs' fans who claim he's a changed man because coaches have talked nicely about him. So let's not pretend I'm talking about a double standard. Pryor looked very, very sharp against Chicago. But I need to see more to believe it. What I saw in OSU is he couldn't read defenses, stared down his first read, had a knack for mind-numbingly bad decisions especially when he starts throwing on the run or tries to make cross-body throws or make the impossible happen, he tends to take off at the first sign of duress, and he was an absolute mechanical nightmare when moving around and I sense that will come out once defenses start throwing things at him. And when things go bad, and in the NFL, things can get frustratingly bad real quick... is he going to be the spoiled, pouty guy he was at OSU? We'll see. For now, I say "yes." If he figures it out, yes, he could be a scary player. Defenses will eventually scheme him. To me, that's when we figure out if Pryor has changed. For now, good for him for earning a starting job. But it's going to take more than preseason games against 2nd and 3rd team defenses to prove he's changed. Quote:

Excellent back track and hedge.

From this year: "During the offseason, Pryor took it upon himself to keep improving by hiring three personal QB coaches to help him work on his mechanics. Included in the trio was Tom House, a former pitcher turned QB throwing coach who has worked with many NFL quarterbacks, including Tom Brady." And from a Bill Williamson article on espn: Allen said Pryor is one of the team’s hardest workers and that his work ethic has exceeded Allen's expectations. As for the rest of your response, now you're talking. Before that, I was starting to wonder if you were just parroting some hackneyed stereotype bullshit about black quarterback = dumb and lazy. Didn't get to see him much in OSU so all I know is that he won a lot and then had a scandal. I think his interception in the first preseason game came from a cross-body throw through like you mentioned so that'll be interesting to see if that's just a bad habit he needs to break. I fully expect him to struggle, but I think he'll be exciting as hell to watch just from what I've seen so far. Definitely pulling for him now and hoping Bray can turn out similarly. |
Quote:
But we've seen this before. Players who light it up in the preseason then look lost when the defenses start dialing it up and adjusting to your game. We've seen egos like cam Newton taste success and then the attitude comes back. There is too much of a story still left to write. I agree that what you are seeing is encouraging. But I need to see him piece this together for a sustained period of real regular season time before I start to believe it. |
