How do you rank your favorite sports teams?

Not that long ago, my list was pretty small. The Chiefs, K-State and Mavs were about the extent of my fandom. A few years I decided to give baseball another chance. I found I enjoyed it again and I go to a couple of games a year. I now have a recent obsession with soccer. I can't get enough of it and it has surpassed baseball. But I still enjoy a good baseball game.

Here's my list in order:
  1. Chiefs
  2. K-State football
  3. K-State basketball
  4. Dallas Mavericks
  5. Liverpool FC
  6. FC Dallas
  7. Texas Rangers
  8. Kansas City Royals
  9. Sporting KC

Old Dog 09-02-2011 05:43 PM

2. KSU in general
3. KU in general
4. NASCAR
5. Royals
6. USMNT
7. Sporting KC

Well I'm not really disputing that it's just your screen name is LAchiefsfan and the only football team you listed was the Cowboys......again WTF?

chefsos 09-02-2011 06:35 PM

It's really close.

1(a) Chiefs
1(b) Orioles

Slot numbers 3 through eleventy are empty. Really not a fan of anything else. And if the O's were even an adequate ballclub, they'd probably go to 1(a). Yeah, heresy, I know.

Man I was 13 I think when the Chiefs played the Colts in the playoffs in 95? I hardly ever saw my grandma but I skipped Christmas at her house that year to watch the game and she gave all my presents to my cousins and I could have cared less. Sadly we never spoke again after that.

She was old school and I think it really hurt her feelings she just didn't understand. Plus she was my Dad's mom and he left when I was a baby so it wasn't like we had a typical grandmother/Grandson relationship. Then on the flip side my step dad's mom was married to a huge chiefs fan and we watched the 1993 AFC championship together. Crazy how the world works. I wonder what ever happened to that guy they divorced after that season and I never heard from him after that.

If KC ever gets an NHL team, it would jump into the top 3. I might one day latch onto an NBA team, and hell, maybe even Sporting KC, but neither would climb very far.

For the 4(+) years I lived in Maryville, Bearcat football was #1 (post-Marty and pre-Vermeil... a nice distraction to say the least, heh), but I just don't catch many games any more. If they were on TV every week, they might be #2. Same with the Avalanche, I guess... as opposed to having season tickets to UNO hockey and catching most Chiefs and Jayhawks games.

But, I'm pretty much a one-sport pony... don't really follow any other sports other than football, except when the playoffs or world cups come around, and even then, I don't really have one team (other than U.S. for international competitions obviously). I favor the Tampa Bay area teams, but since they just all about won something, I'm pretty ambivalent. Usually just go for the underdog.

Then it's a long distance between all my other teams but I still love all my teams, the Chiefs are just "it." I love the Chiefs so much it's sick lol. A good portion of my baby pictures consist of something Chiefs in them. My whole family loves the Chiefs as well. Every Sunday after church we'd go to my grandparent's house, order pizza and watch the game or go to the game if we got tickets. We combined it all and made it family time too. We'd talk about life, school, everything etc. So it was more than just watching our team, it got us all closer together too. No one is perfect though, I married a Cowboys fan. When my parents found out she was a Cowboys fan my dad said to me, "What did I do wrong?"
