Jaguars LB will be on a payment plan for his $20,000 fine
**** Gooddell. This guy makes ~$97,000 BEFORE taxes IF he stays on the practice squad for 16 weeks. And the league takes $20,000 MORE off the top of that?
What if he's cut after a couple weeks and no one picks him up? He's a freaking undrafted free agent. What a load of shit. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shu...urn=nfl-wp6605 Quote:

Ochocinco should pay it for him.
|
Oh well. Hard lesson learned. He's free to go find another job.

It's a business first and a sport second/Goodell apologists

**** Goodell. He needs to die in an AIDS fire.
|
somebody should punch Goodell
|
That would be the same as fining Brady for like 10 million. Would that be allowed? I don't ****ing think so.
|
Eh, if Warren Buffet and I both get caught in the same speedtrap going the same speed, we're both going to pay the same fine. I'm failing to see why I should be outraged by this.

He shouldn't of broken nfl rules then.

Definitely worthy of taking 1/3 of a guy's paycheck.

Pretty textbook as regards to leading helmet to a defenseless receiver. What's the outrage?
|
Jesus Christ you guys, he led with his ****ing helmet right into the other guy's helmet. That's an illegal hit.

This guy's JOB is football. He has 17 weeks a year where he's earning a regular paycheck....if he's lucky. This is total garbage. A freaking UDFA. |

Yeah, that hit was definitely worth a fine.
And as for income based fines, bleh. They all play the same game. |
Quote:
Please, he's lowering his helmet trying to avoid a helmet to helmet hit. Hell, you can see him trying to lead with his arm. The game is moving so fast, he sees the guy catching the ball, a split second later he drops it.....bullshit call, bullshit fine, bullshit commissioner. |

I think he'll get it reduced to 25% of his weekly check, which is $1,425. That's much more reasonable.

why do you support this crap? this isn't football (even though i admit, it is The Rules) |

A practice squad player shouldn't have to pay the same fine as 1st round pick who just pocketed 18 million in guaranteed money. To someone like Suh, the fine is equal to one days pay. To this guy it's 2 months of pay.
|
My father drank because my mom's pussy smelled like tuna, that doesn't mean my brother should been fined 20K, does it?
|

And you'd support that. Because you wouldnt have a choice, so it'd be irrelevant. |

To me, the fine is too great, not because of the inequity between player salaries, but because none of these guys earn paychecks during the preseason.
Doesn't matter if you're Troy Polamaulu, James Harrison, or this guy. No one gets paid anything more than per diem until the real games start. |
Remember when Herm Edwards fined Tyron Brackenridge something like $14,000 for dancing in the locker room as a rookie? Herm seemed to think it was a big joke, and I was thinking, "This is an undrafted rookie free agent who may or may not make the team. Your moronic sense of humor could cost him everything he earns if he doesn't make it." Out of all the clueless things that Herm did, that may have been the most clueless.

Is the fine going against the guy that came in from the right side of the screen? Because that guy lowered his head and clocked the Patriot with the upper part or crown of his helmet. And he did it to the WR's facemask. That's a textbook illegal hit. He can learn to live off of his 2500 a week. **** him. |

Meh, dude is still making ~$150,000 a year AFTER paying the fine. I'm not going to sit here and feel bad for him.
|

LMAO I support safe football, and I support reasonable practices to keep these guys safe. That type of hit is also incredibly dangerous for the guy doing the hitting. Way too hard on the neck. |
so what?
if a gas station attendant in lots of states sells to minors, the cops come in and fine the attendant...not the store. most states, the fine is about 250. If you sell alcohol to a minor in SD (and a couple other states) the cops come into the store and arrest the attendant...the manager has to come down or the store is locked when the arrest happens. 90%+ of the time, when you hit dirty, you made a conscience choice to do so. I wonder if the NFL would sue the kid if he has an outstanding debt by not playing enough to cover the payments. |
**** him.Learn to tackle,pay up or GTFO.
|
He can still afford to live in his mansion.
|
Okay, lets be realistic. The 2500 will come out before taxes. He is still making 3200.00 per week plus NFL beneifts.
There are a ton of guys that would trade places with him. I have to work 60 hours a week to earn $3200.00. He gets to work out and practice football. I will try to hold back my tears. |

Leading with the helmet and launching himself into the player. Pretty clearly a penalty (under modern rules anyway), and pretty clearly fine-able (in the modern system).
Hard to get excited about it. And I don't think $20K is ridiculous. If he's elevated to the roster at any time his salary will increase dramatically. |
Oh, and let's say there's no fine or the fine was very low (in consideration of the Practice Squadders low pay). That's basically like the Commissioner saying that marginal guys fighting for roster spots should feel free to take kill shots.
Yeah, I'm sure that's what Goodell wants to do. |
It's a good thing he didn't hit Brady or Goodell would have to go to the rules committee and institute a new rule in 2012 that you can't touch QB's in preseason games.
|
Quote:
You obviously didn't see the Pats/Lions game. The Lions' defense were only huddling up to determine which spiked dildo they should insert with extreme prejudice in Brady's rectum on the next play. It wasn't good, and it wasn't penalized... |
The guy is making $77,000 then, playing a children's game. I am sure he would tell you he's blessed and happy to be there. He is.
