Cassel is ADAMANT he will play Sunday for Chiefs
My kind of QB. One tough Hombre
http://www.kansascity.com/2011/09/07...iness-for.html All doubts seemed to disappear Wednesday that Matt Cassel would start at quarterback Sunday when they open their regular season against Buffalo at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs returned to practice after a day off and Cassel was a full participant. “No doubt in my mind,” Cassel said when asked if he would play. “I feel good. I feel like I’m ready to go. “Come you-know-what or high water, I’m going to be out there.” Cassel left in the second quarter of last week’s preseason game in Green Bay with a rib injury. The Chiefs were concerned that Cassel wouldn’t be able to play against the Bills. In that case, Tyler Palko would be the starting quarterback. Palko has never started an NFL game and played in only two. Cassel indicated he might not be at full strength Sunday but said that wouldn’t prevent him from doing his job. “If you play this game long enough, there’s going to be bumps and bruises,” Cassel said. “If you feel good on Mondays after a game, then you probably didn’t play much on Sunday. You know when you play this game, you’re not always going to feel your best.” Brown makes Bills roster Colin Brown of Braymer, Mo., and the University of Missouri, is one of Buffalo’s reserves at guard and center. The Chiefs drafted Brown in 2009 in the fifth round but cut him last year at the end of training camp. Bills coach Chan Gailey was the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator during training camp of Brown’s rookie year. “He’s a different guy than what we had that first training camp he had back in Kansas City,” Gailey said. “He’s a lot more mature, a lot more confident. He was trying to feel his way through during the short time I was there with him. He’s moving better now. He seems to have added a step of quickness.” |
Well is it time to meltdown because he is playing and not Palko or Stanzi?
|
You can be critical of his play but can't deny his toughness.
In that respect he has a lot of DeBerg in him who was one of my favorite all time Chiefs. |

LMAO Oh of course Flopnut.... BTW draftabulators is the correct spelling... No need to insult FAX that way... |
Tough or not....it wouldn't be any stretch of the imagination to believe that Stanzi could potentially step in (if given a chance) and create a QB controversy. In addition to maybe being "tough".........Cassel isn't stupid.

I bet Cassel remembers how poorly he played in this game last year.....guessing he plays a lot better than anyone anticipates.

I really want Cassel to be successful. He seems like a good dude; tough SOB.

It's gotta be tough on him to go through 3 OC's in three years. This guy needs some continuity. |
Cassel seems to thrive on doubters. Everyone was worried about him last year against the Rams but he made a point to scramble a couple times just to make the statement he wasn't backing down. I think he goes into this game with something to prove, and that's a good thing.

luck is gonna look so awesome in red & gold

i have no doubt that he will play if it's physically possible.
Cassel is insecure and he will be afraid he might end up losing his starting job if he ever gives somebody else a chance to start. Plays right into the reason Pioli doesn't want any real competition for him either. |

Now, go use it as Quarter Backing fuel. Visualize and attack. /Coach Klein |

The way Cassel plays and is treated etc just screams insecurity. |

meanwhile Pioli has known Cassel for a long time and as yet to bring any real competition to KC since Cassel came over. Why would he take that chance for no reason? Cassel has lost virtually every QB competition since high school ... has to lead to doubt. Cassel plays with very little confidence on the field. So little that it effects his ability to play up to his potential. |
"Cassel has lost virtually every QB competition since high school ... has to lead to doubt."
laz made a valid point guys |
I'm more worried about the play calling than Cassel. I hope their OC-by-committee approach works out.

I love the message board GM/OC/DC/HC/Shrinks around here.
CP Expert - "Let me tell you exactly what is happening and why! It is indisputable fact that blah, blah, blah is going on, I guarantee it!" Observer - 'What experience do you have to make you qualified to make those assertions?" CP Expert - "Experience? What do you mean experience? I watch football **** face. Go die in a burning AIDS Tree fire you ****ing moron, this is what we do here. Talk football". Observer - "But you speak as though your posts are fact rather than your obviously biased and slanted opinion skewed to fit your point of view." CP Expert - "You are a ****ing douchtard! Drink some antifreeze! I can't believe you call yourself a real Chief's fan. LMAO, you are just a homer moron! LMAO." |

My favorite is "I was watching game tape" LOL, let me guess you are using the TV Feed at game tape? Where it is condensed and only shows you were the ball is... How can you break down a team with TV footage game tape? |

Maybe this will help him get rid of the ball quicker and take less sacks too? |
We're doomed.

I'm really not sure of what the hand-wringing is about in some of the Cassel threads. Yes the O line is shaky, but with the receivers and RBs we have, even a rookie could succeed. Example: Run-4 yds, Dump pass-3 yds, Run-6 yds, Pass-10 yds. If you follow where I'm going, you don't need an MVP, just a guy who can keep from throwing INTs. This is how our offense is now built. We have the skill players to take the pressure off the QB and O line.

People can talk shit all they want. Cry, kick, and scream, but at the end of the day this is Cassel's team, like it or not. If Gaither can shore up the RT spot, and Baldwin can play up to expectations, the same people bitching, and crying will be washing his bawls. |
When we win , somebody show a sign that says.
"Me and Matt Cassel just you know what you up dog" |
