Cowboys Waive Tashard Choice

Quote:

Tashard Choice, RB DAL
News: The Cowboys waived RB Tashard Choice on Saturday to clear a roster spot for LB Bruce Carter, according to ESPNDallas.com. Choice played in all six games for Dallas this season and amassed just 75 rushing yards. He failed to reach 40 yards in any game and finished with single-digits in four outings as he stumbled to a lowly 2.7 yards per carry. Choice has also been dealing with a shoulder injury that kept him out of practice Friday.
Analysis: Choice was likely deemed expendable after rookie DeMarco Murray's breakout performance in Week 7 against St. Louis. Murray rushed for a team-record 253 yards versus the Rams while Choice managed two carries for eight yards before suffering a shoulder injury. He also lost a fumble for the second game in a row. The Cowboys are still missing starting RB Felix Jones to an injury, but he could return to the lineup soon, which would have limited Choice's attempts. Fantasy owners should keep keep an eye on where Choice lands.
He had a couple of good games when given the opportunity to be the main ball carrier in his rookie season.

O.city 10-29-2011 01:38 PM

Hell at this point, I'd drop Jones and bring him in.

It won't happen but I would do it.

Pioli Zombie 10-29-2011 01:40 PM

I just saw him at Kolache Factory in Overland Park with a realtor.

I doubt that they drop Jones.... but I wouldn't mind seeing him picked up.

Jones is much too valuable averaging 2 yards per carry and assaulting teammates to cut.

Yep. Because Choice CAN play.

Yes please.

O.city 10-29-2011 02:04 PM

I mean at this point, with our Rb situation, wh wouoldn't you bring the guy in. He isn't going to cost much and he just adds more depth at rb.

Time to face facts about Jones and Mccluster.

Bill Lundberg 10-29-2011 02:22 PM

I'd drop Jones or McCluster for him in a heartbeat. But like you said it won't happen. Jones adds a much needed punch in the locker room and McCluster is a Pioli pick and he won't give up this early on a 2nd rounder. Nevermind the fact that the guy is basically useless 99 plays out of 100.

Worse case scenario he's Thomas Jones - 9 years.

Drop McCluster?

I'd for sure drop Jones.

"he brings attitude to the team" what the **** ever. He serves absolutely no purpose on this team. If they are gonna preach this right 53 bullshit, go get the right 53 and don't keep one of them becaue he is your guy or whatever.

He's a gimmick and will never be anything more. I think he pretty much sucks.

mcaj22 10-29-2011 02:30 PM

seriously Thomas Jones isnt going to be here forever

what is the difference of cutting him now versus not re-signing him at the end of the season. None, he's still gone.

if they do re-sign him this place will explode.

sedated 10-29-2011 02:54 PM

Strange move by dallas. They seemed glued to the 3 RB rotation, murray had ONE good game, and felix JUST came back from injury.

Finally, one of these threads where I would probably pull the trigger and put in a claim.

I doubt we would win a claim for him, though. Until next week, we are still 21st in the pecking order and somebody higher than us will claim him.

If not, you sign the guy and kick Old Jones to the curb.

No, you're the idiot.

The theory is that you play Cassel because he gives you the best chance to win.

Bullshit.

You ain't winning shit with Cassel.

You play Stanzi to find out if he offers you any future so that you know just how big the need is to find a QB that you can win with.

If you don't already know that Cassel isn't a QB you can win with, then you're a ****ing moron, you ****ing moron.

Iconic 10-29-2011 04:32 PM

I'm partly a Dallas fan so I've followed them quite a bit... Choice has A LOT of potential. I always liked him and he did very well last season when he split carries with Felix while Barber was out. Don't be disappointed by his 2.7 YPA this season, he has mostly received 3rd down carries just to pick up 1 or 2 yards. Would be a nice pick up IMO. Great addition for when Jones retires after this season and Battle is 28 so....

Marcellus 10-29-2011 06:19 PM

6 games 75 yards and 2 fumbles and you think he is better then Jones? Jones is a guy who while I think has jumped the shark, has has multiple 1200 yard seasons and doesn't turn the ball over.

Yea, no thank you to Choice.

I don't know where to begin so I'll just put it this way.

POTENTIAL > BROKEDICK

That said, as far as we know Jones is the veteran leader in the clubhouse and cutting him may not be good for team chemistry. Although I am sure Baldwin wouldn't mind it!

Read a quote where they(Dallas) likened Murray's game to Miles breakout game against KC a couple of years ago. I'd be more than a little leery about Murray staying healthy. But thats just coming from a guy that watched him the last 4 years. If he stays healthy, he takes over the RB spot, but I have my doubts.

CoMoChief 10-29-2011 07:18 PM

I'd take him for the 2nd half of the season....he has break away speed like Charles does. Anything but Thomas Jones.

O.city 10-29-2011 07:19 PM

Murray and Felix if both can stay healthy would be a great 1,2 punch in the backfield. I just don't think they can stay healthy for the long haul .

He's lost a fumble once every 104th time he's had the ball. One every 18th, this year. Maybe the guy has only seen 3 games?

You got me noob, I'm a troll. I'd love to be wrong, but you need to take your red glasses off if you think a 5'6" 170lb player will ever be anything more than a gimick player in the NFL.

I'm not saying Choice is the 2nd coming of Barry Sanders, but he's a better prospect than either McCluster or Jones.

I didn't know anyone outside of a few Marylanders drank rye whiskey. I like it but most folks don't even know what it is.

This is by far my favorite whiskey. It's only available for sale in Iowa and Illinois and they can't keep it on the shelves. Occasionally, you can find a bottle online. If you ever get a chance to try it you won't be disappointed.

If it makes you think a guy that gets cut in the middle of the year from a team with an injured starter.... that the team has been trying to groom as a starter for 3 yrs.... but has given up on ..... a better fit for your team.. Maybe we dont?

He's worth a look with our rb situation, but you guys are on drugs if you think we cut Jones to make room for him. You don't jettison a starter mid-season for a guy that has never seen the playbook, regardless of how bad that starter is.
