Red Socks

What did you think? Should the Chiefs incorporate all red socks next year or keep the old red/yellow/white stripped socks?

Personally, I thought the red socks were awesome.

Frazod 11-01-2011 12:38 PM

**** yeah, change it. They looked awesome.

SPATCH 11-01-2011 12:39 PM

I thought the white mid-high sock was mandatory. I know guys used to get fined for not wearing the white sock..

Edit: mandatory for every player in the league.. not just the chiefs

Carr was rockin' 'em too. I wonder if they just need to be approved by the league first, as a team wide uniform change?

RockChalk 11-01-2011 12:41 PM

This WILL NOT be happening. Hunt was on 810 this morning and he sounded disgusted/pissed off that some of the guys wore red socks. Said something along the lines of "We haven't modified uniforms in several decades. It's a classic look. I'm going to have to speak with Todd about the socks and have him talk with the players about it". He seriously said something along those lines. For me, it took a little bit of the high away from the win last night (Hunt making that statement).

FWIW, I loved the red socks.

RockChalk 11-01-2011 12:43 PM

Additional thought...

For me, Hunt's comments just really show how out of touch he is with the fan base.

Dumb. The red socks looked absolute badass. Flowers/Bowe/Carr looked like ballers.

Hunt needs to get with the program. I'm all for keeping it classic, but the red socks updated the uniforms without actually changing anything.

KCrockaholic 11-01-2011 12:44 PM

I loved them! Looked great.

I heard this too. If memory serves, they were worn by Bowe, Flowers and Carr for sure, not sure about other guys. Non-issue stuff is not supposed to be worn, it's an NFL rule. I'm sure they'll all get fined.

kysirsoze 11-01-2011 12:45 PM

Just one step closer to the badassedness of an all red look.

The socks looked cool. My wife really liked them as well. It's a small change that made a huge difference.

It really just made him sound like a boring, simple, typical franchise owner. I'd guess at least 75% of the fans saw those red socks and thought they looked awesome. I know I saw them right at the start and pointed 'em out to my buddy. We both thought it was a great look.

DaKCMan AP 11-01-2011 12:47 PM

Also, where was Hunt crying about modifying the uniforms with pink for Breast Cancer Awareness?? That changed his 'classic' look. I understand there's a difference between BCA and the red socks, but don't act like you're so opposed to changes when, really, you're not.

ToxSocks 11-01-2011 12:47 PM

We need to start a "wear the Red Socks" petition.

KCrockaholic 11-01-2011 12:47 PM

And it's not that I hate the yellow on our uniforms, but it was just nice to see a change, and our red is gorgeous anyways. Not a bland boring red like the Bucs or some shit.

Yes, they will be fined. Probably $5-10K each.

Seriously though, Clark, they are red socks. Simple change that really stuck out. Since the NFL is going to fine your boys, you could at least support their decision to wear them.

My guess is that Clark honestly thinks most fans would hate a change to the uniforms. He may be right. This one wouldn't.

Predarat 11-01-2011 12:48 PM

Socks? I didn't even notice. Gaz.

yea, because those two examples of modifying the uniform are comparable.

So Hunt has a sentimental attachment to the traditional look... it's understandable.

I sort of feel the same attachment.

However, if a player wants to swag surf on Monday night and take a fine, screw it. NBD

I don't think anyone is suggesting a permanent change here. But maybe wearing an alternate look a few games a years wouldn't be such a bad thing :hmmm:

yeah. My wife pointed that out. And Flowers was rocking some black ones with a red logo and Carr had Black, red & White IIRC.

I'm glad they didn't make the playoffs. Those douchebags, along with the Yankees, need to get bent.

chefsos 11-01-2011 01:12 PM

I kind of like the look, for a change. However, had Clark said "Hell yeah, I love it! Red socks for everybody!", he'd have 46 fines every week. Neither Clark, nor Haley, nor the Chiefs as a whole have any say in the matter.

Heh, there are at least three violations here alone:

Los Pollos Hermanos 11-01-2011 01:12 PM

The white socks with stripes look went out in 1989.

I wish I had a pair of the red socks to wear on game days.

Why?

Other teams wear solid colored socks all the damn time. You don't hear a peep about it.

Hell....the Lions...the Packers are the first team that comes to mind. Woodson is constantly rocking the Solid Socks.

Frazod 11-01-2011 01:15 PM

I sure hope somebody in the media gets ahold of this and runs with it. If this board is any indicator, I think the vast majority of fans are in favor of this, and if that becomes apparent to the team (and it's cheap-ass shitbag owner) perhaps they'll throw us a bone and change it.

I love knee/thigh high socks on women. Best thing ever.

Nickel D 11-01-2011 01:19 PM

I'm guessing the vast majority of fans are indifferent.

Dorsey had red socks with a small yellow stripe in the middle. No white.

Dude, I know what you're saying, but the fines are coming.

1) Socks over the knee
2) No white socks
3) Shoes gotta be black or white

I mean, I like it, but the NFL doesn't.

-Pants & Shorts Rules:
Pants must be pulled down over the knee and can not be altered or cut.

-Players are issued a two-piece sock. One part is white, and the other part is the team color like blue for the Rams. If a player has only the white or only the blue showing, that's a violation.
The white sock, worn over the full-length stockings in team colors, must extend to the midpoint of the lower leg. Stockings must meet the pants below the knee.

-The league's uniform policy stipulates that a team must declare itself a "black shoe" team or "white shoe" team prior to the season.

Ok. **** it. I'll concede. Put the white at the very bottom, the way the Lions do it. Done.

No shit. IMO, this is a great change that doesn't screw anything about the uniform itself up.

-King- 11-01-2011 02:41 PM

Ravens wear these all the time:

http://i.a.cnn.net/si/2005/writers/s...1_reed_all.jpg

So all Chiefs players need to do is show 1 inch worth of white sock and they'll be fine.
