The next 007 movie
SKYFALL
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-15558355 3 November 2011 Last updated at 08:07 ET Bond film called Skyfall By Tim Masters, Entertainment and arts correspondent, BBC News The title of the 23rd James Bond film has been confirmed as Skyfall. The latest 007 adventure will star Daniel Craig for the third time. Leading ladies have been confirmed as French actress Berenice Marlohe and Naomie Harris. Skyfall is being directed by Sam Mendes, who won an Oscar for 1999's American Beauty. Mendes said the storyline will take the secret agent to London, China, Turkey and Scotland. It will see Bond's loyalty tested to M, his superior, while espionage headquarters MI6 faces an attack. The movie, which sees the return of Dame Judi Dench as spy boss M, will also star Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney and Javier Bardem as the villain of the piece. It will be released in the UK on 26 October 2012. Craig told reporters in London that the cast would start filming sequences for the new movie later on Thursday. Much speculation about the new film has focused on what Mendes will bring to the franchise, with some suggesting he will tone down - or even abandon altogether - the action sequences. But the director denied that this was the case. He told reporters in London that the "fantastic script" had "all the elements of a classic Bond movie, including - to quell any rumours - lots of action". When asked what fans could expect from the latest film, he added: "The movie will reveal everything, and there's lots of surprises." Producer Barbara Broccoli said no-one had yet been chosen to write and perfom the Bond theme tune. Financial troubles Next year marks the 50th anniversary of the first Bond movie, 1962's Dr No. James Bond is one of the longest-running franchises in film history, but Bond 23 will mark the end of a four year gap. The last 007 outing was in 2008's Quantum of Solace, directed by Marc Forster. Work on the 23rd film was suspended in April 2010 because of uncertainty over the company's future. The franchise had been on hold amid financial troubles, with MGM filing for bankruptcy protection last November. A rescue deal and restructuring plan put US firm Spyglass Entertainment at the helm of MGM, which had struggled due to several box office flops and a DVD sales slump. Craig - who made his Bond debut in Casino Royale in 2006 - is the sixth actor to play the British secret agent in the official Bond series. Sir Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Sir Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan preceded him in the iconic role. Casino Royale, was the most successful instalment in the franchise's 49-year history, making $594m (£385m) worldwide. |
I hope they extend Craigs contract.
They went from some out of this world, crazy stupid shit, with Pierce to a badass with Craig. Liking him as Bond. |
Craig is good. I'm glad they got him in again. Hopefully he continues to be Bond.
|
YAY!!!!!!!! Love Craig as Bond.
|
Craig is a very good actor, and can play someone badass. But he's not Bond in my book. Connery was IT! After him they broke the mold.

Still haven't seen Quantum of Solace. I bought it about a year ago and it's still in its wrapper.

Eh, I never much liked Connery as Bond. I was the one guy the really, really liked George Lazenby. He was always my favorite. Then Craig's version of Casino Royale came out. Wow. I was let down by Quantum of Solace.

Casino Royale is one of the great, great Bond films ever, hopefully the new Bond will be closer to that than Quantum. |

Craig is so badass in this role. Loved both Casino Royale and QoS and will look forward to this one as well.

I've been waiting for this for the longest time! I also love Craig as Bond. James Bond in general is such a badass. One of my fave fictional characters of all time.

And OBTW, Dalton got a raw deal when EOn switched to Brosnan. He was a very good Bond. |
Here's why I don't care for Craig as Bond:
http://l1.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/HI...r/250_bond.jpg They should never have a Bond girl tower over Bond. With Craig that would be a tall order (pardon the pun). The girl in red looks like she can kick the living shit out of him, badass or not. http://movies.yahoo.com/blogs/the-pr...132244752.html James Bond Press Conference Confirms ‘Skyfall’ Is Finally Coming, With a New Bond Girl This morning in London, Sony Pictures had a big press conference about the next James Bond movie, the one that has been rumored and delayed and speculated about for months upon years. Sitting up there on stage were Daniel Craig, and Judi Dench, and director Sam Mendes and even Javier Bardem, who is gonna play the bad guy. It really happened. The movie is totally coming now. They had a press conference: They can't back out at this point. The more prurient of you are probably wondering: "So, who's the hot Bond girl?" Well, you Y-chromosome-driven Beavis: It's Bérénice Marlohe, a French model who has, in fact, never appeared in an English-speaking movie before. (She has barely been in any French-speaking ones.) She will play "a glamorous, enigmatic character named Severin." That's to say: A Bond girl. If you want to know a bit more about what she looks like -- and we suspect you do -- JoBlo.com has the definitive photo gallery. |
She's also wearing 6 inch heels.
|
Connery was the best.
Craig brought a new level of toughness to the character. Brosnan should have had the role back in the 80's but I guess TV screwed that up. Dalton was good but for some reason just never rang true in the character. Moore played it way too cheesy. I need to go back and see the one film with Lazenby because I don't remember him at all. |
Craig is badass.
Sounds like they found a good bad guy. Not sure if QoS even had a villain. |

Also in defense of Brosnan, he did keep complaining about the progressively cheesier direction the producers were taking the Bond flicks and wanted to play an edgier Bond. EON, ironically pretty much fired him and started making edgy Bond movies. I think that was their slap in his face for his bitching. My only problem with Brosnan was his distractingly high voice. He had the least manly voice among all of the actors who have played Bond. Lastly, Lazenby was good but he was in the unfortunate position to follow the legend. |

Look, Craig is a good actor, but he is too short and blonde to be Bond. Plus that haircut reveals a bit of a pointy head unbecoming 007. |

Here's another comparison, jd. Brosnan and Connery are both 6'2".

It's the same thing with Brosnan. He wasn't a bad BOND... but the director/writer had him doing way too much unrealistic stuff with too many stupid one liners. The Bronson movies writing was terrible, except for Goldeneye which was mostly just guilty of cheesy one liners. |

Madsen is an unappreciated actor. Especially for the mob genre. BTW, back to the subject of Bond, Madsen would have made an awesome recurring Felix Leiter. |
I think Madsen would be more awesome as a Bond Villian.

I do not like that guy as bond

I think he's my favorite Bond to date. I never thought anyone would unseat Connery.

Love that guy. He is not as tongue in cheek as Connery and Moore. Dalton and Brosnan were failures. Craig is just a bad ass.
|

And Dalton is my 2nd best Bond ever and was in two of my favorite 007 movies. EON just did not give him a fair shake. As for Craig, bad ass alone does not Bond make. He does not look the part at all. I hated Moore's clown-Bond, but craig's chip-on-the-shoulder-Bond is fast running its course. We get it. He is angry! Time to loosen up a bit.... Sheesh! |
Connery was not very tongue in cheek at all. Moore and Lazenby, on the other hand, were comic buffoons.
I have no problems with Craig. I wouldn't put him up with Connery - who was so good Ian Fleming changed the character to be more like him - but he captures the meanness and the ruthlessness of the character really well. Also, crashing VW Beetles in a Bond film. At last. |
Oh hell yes......what a tease. Looks spectacular.

Rankin' em!
1. Connery (duh!) 2. Craig 3. Dalton - I know, but the guy had as steely a glare as any bond. 4. Brosnan 5. Lazenby 6. James Coburn as Derek Flint 7. Dean Martin as Matt Helm 8. Roger Moore 9. Mike Myers as Austin Powers 10. David Niven If it's not apparent, I was never a big fan of the Roger Moore James Bond movies. Part of the reason I rank Dalton so high is due to the fact he wasn't Roger Moore. Don't get me wrong, I liked Moore in other things - he'll always be Simon Templar, but some it seemed like the poor plots were just vehicles for stunts and funny spy gadgets. The Craig Bonds have been very refreshing. The gadgets aren't gadgets at all, and the plots have a more realistic feel to them. |
Can't wait for this movie. I remember way back when Casino Royale first came out, I thought it was the worst movie ever! Turned it off during the first Poker scene. I decided to give it another chance a few years later and realized it was a great ****ing movie.
My friends, and apparently a lot of other people, think Quantum of Solace was a big pile of shit but I liked it. Not as much as Casino Royale, but I thought it was a good flick. |
As far as Bonds go, my fave was always Connery. Idk why, for sure, but I always liked his movies the best. Pierce Brosnan has the most 'Bond-ish' look to me but his movies blew balls. None of the other Bonds are even worthy of mention to me; they're all just 'meh'. Especially either Roger Moore or Timothy Dalton. I can't remember which one, but MAN! That dude is a bore!
I'd put Craig up at the top with Connery. None of the others even matter. |

Quantum of Solace is great if you treat it as what it actually was: the extended final act of Casino Royale.

Ive heard for awhile now that On Her Magestys Secret Service was one of the best Bond movies ever and ive never seen it completely. My guess is, if it would have starred Connery it would be more revered.

Every time I see this movie, I always think of Skyrim.
I need to stop playing. |

Daniel Craig is a badass 007. Loved the last 2 movies and I will def watch this one.
|
I went back and rewatched Quantum of Solace a little while ago, and it really was damn good. That mountainside car chase at the beginning was gripping.
|
This is my most anticipated upcoming, non-superhero film.
I always liked Connery, but Craig is the new best Bond. |
You might as well make it a "Bourne" movie and go ahead and cast Matt Damon as Bond, it would be the same thing.
|
Bond films were around long before Bourne was even created.
They're also pretty different character with different plots. The feel of the movies is just similar. |
