So, Ricky Stanzi sucks...
Why else would Tyler Palko start for us? I loved this kid in preseason. I just don't get it. Help me understand why Stanzi can't get a chance...
|
This couldn't go in one of the other 20 Stanzi threads?
(please don't ban me) |
Its a process.
|
Favoritism.
|
I think it's pretty clear that race plays a factor in this decision.
|
Picking him up in FF?
|
I cant stop thinking how the mood will change in here once Palko goes 25/30 325 yrds, 4 TDs no ints no sacks and rushes for another 35.
... or Not... |
Butthurt.
Haley's not an Iowa fan. |
Ghey!
|
Before Baldwin got his ass kicked he was making some outrageous catches in preseason.
When he got better they left him inactive a couple times. For whatever reason this coaching staff is hesitant with this recent draft class. |
I think Stanzi will see some playing time fairly soon.Palko is next in line so he gets the start.Makes sense to me.
|
Pitt>Iowa /Haley
|
Look how long they stunk.. i mean stuck.. with Cassel. They are obviously drunk, since the first thing to go is your decision making ability.
|
P in the alphabet comes before S, hence Palko is first. Also, S stands for sex and P stands for Penis.
|
Something tells me they don't think he is ready. If Haley really is coaching for his job as some say, he either wants to get fired or thinks Stanzi needs more time.
We don't see what goes on in practice or behind the closed doors of 1 Arrowhead Drive. At this point you can't say it's because of contract or favoritism because both Palko and Stanzi were brought in under Pioli/Hali and neither make shit. If they thought he gave them a better chance to win they would play him. For some reason they don't believe that. Stupidity? Maybe. Give it a week or 2 and see what happens with Palko. Lots of people pined for Croyle until the SD game last year. |
This team probably wouldn't know a good QB if they fell ass backwards into it.

What makes you think these dumbasses know how to evaluate players properly? FFS, they once inactivated our best player for Dantrell Savage.*
*FTR, this post should not be construed as an endorsement of Stanzi, who I believe is Craig Krenzel. |

You know the only thing I think of when I think of Croyle anymore is the pictures of his wife in the threads.
Oh yeah and he broke his dick in every game hes ever played. |

no, it was urgent |
Josh Looney said something unbelievably tardtastic in this article. The scary thing is he's one of the best sources of Chiefs news, so he may only be the messenger:

I would still start Croyle over Cassel too, you know why?
We would at least be able to move on once he got hurt. With Cassel, that tough SOB KEEPS GETTING UP TILL NOW BWAHAHAHAHAHA (I still think its funny that I changed my sig and woke up the next morning with confirmation that Cassel was indeed out for what looks like the remainder of the year. |
I would rather see Stanzi than Palko but right now 1 game back they aren't going to give into a "lets see what the kid has" mentality.
2 or 3 losses and yea, it could/should happen. He went in the 5th for a reason, the other starting rookies are all high draft picks. Dalton was high 2nd rounder and I am sure they didn't expect to be where they are now. |

That's what I get from it. It may be wrong but the logic isn't completely flawed. |
NFL coaches are conservative and terrified of criticism.
Look at Atlanta. Smith goes for it on 4th and inches and gets crucified for it in the media. You have an abbreviated season where Palko knows the system from last year. Haley made up his mind from preseason that Palko would be the #2. There was no competition. Palko got to run with the first string in game 3 and played almost all of game 4. Stanzi didn't touch the ball in game 4. He had no opportunity in game time to win the job. Haley is taking the safe conservative approach. |
Also, conscienceless? That's a rather constipated word. If I were a journalist I would try to find some other way around it to convey the same meaning.

Well, Pioli and Haley are fans of sticking with what has worked in the past. I'm sure Pioli credits the reason Tom Brady was successful from the get go was that he was ready for it. Period. As has been pointed out, Brady was also inactive forever. He was the 4th string QB(the coaches were obviously blind and reeruned) but eventually he worked passed that and EARNED the #2 spot. Whereas here in KC, Jamaal Charles was backup to Thomas Jones, Baldwin is behind Breaston, Moeaki was behind Pope, DJ was behind Williams. Last year TJ was behind Shaun Smith, this year he's a top 3-4 DE,, Hudson behind Wegs, Gaither behind Richardson. This team makes a guy earn what's coming to him, even his Arrowhead. They are not into making changes for change's sake.
Stanzi wasn't ready to start, he had the playbook for less than 2 weeks before the 1st preseason game. Still looked good, despite no protection. On top of all of that, at this point, Stanzi has been concentrating solely on becoming a better QB, and running scout team. He hasn't even prepared to be a backup yet. He hasn't been asked to get ready for a game with a game plan yet and "be ready". Again, Haley is a "steps" guy. Just listen to his presser's he references this constantly(it's a step in the right direction, a good step forward, more, but I can't rememeber). This is the next "step" for Stanzi, preparing for a team and learning a gameplan as a backup. A lot less pressure. Let him do that once or a few times. Then, if it happens, I'm sure he'll prepare all week, worry free thinking he'll be the backup, then find out late in the week he'll be the starter. Again, if that happens. Ramping him up. Just like Haley's preseason plan.(Which some of you might still be butthurt about. It happened how it happened. No biggy. I was a fan and still am. I like that Haley is willing to take risks sometimes. If it worked he's a genius, if not, then the worst thing that happens is a slow start. Lots of teams had that without our preseason plan, every year.) |
Stanzi needs to be sprinkled in, like your wife sprinkled in the salt peter. A little bit stronger dose as time goes by. How they do that IDK
|
Would you trust Barry Richardson to protect your rookie QB? So why get him broken for nothing.
|
I like the idea of having a rookie or project QB running the scout team for an appropriate duration of time. If anything, it could potentially diversify their skill set.
|
They both got to throw to Baldwin while he was on the mend. That should give them some level of game time comfort
|
Remember most of yall wanted Battle cut because of his preseason play?

God there is so much stupid in this thread, I can't even process it.
I'm glad they are not going to throw him in there to die on National television. Let Palko be the sacrificial lamb. Stanzi hasn't even been active, and you guys want him to face Tom Brady (who was inactive all but one game his rookie season) on monday night, when Barry Richardson is playing like the worst T in football. |

However, whoever plays QB will not be facing Tom Brady. He'll be facing the New England defense. |

All I'm saying is, Stanzi has a chance to be a damn good QB. I could give two ****ing shits what he's prepared to do during this toilet bowl season.

Lack of a off season is why he is the 3rd string.

Palko wont last till the end of the first quarter on Monday Night. Mark Anderson and Andre Carter will put Stanzi in the game. |
It all has to do with Tebow's Foreskin Moccasin's going AWOL.

Guys, chill...
We're saving Stanzi for the Packers...they'll never see it coming... |
You really want to put in a rookie QB with our OL against that schedule?

If he can put up Dalton like numbers....or hell, even Ponder like numbers, he'd be more productive than Cassel and would actually give us hope that he can be a solid QB. |

Since he's a lefty, I'd like to see Haley/Muir/Zorn throw some bootlegs and rollouts in this game. I think it would help the line ... particularly Richardson ... a lot. Also, I'd be targeting the bejeesus out of Breaston. FAX |

He got sacked a bunch (as any QB would) but he never had it picked, and more than half the time he was able to evade pressure efficiently better than any Chiefs QB since Gannon. So to answer your question, I'd prefer Stanzi take snaps against that murderous schedule than any other QB we have on our roster. |

There can be no better teacher than a players own mistakes. Best case scenario would be for him to go out and throw a bunch of touchdowns, but also a bunch of picks. Make a bunch of ROOKIE MISTAKES in his rookie year, not in his second year. That would give Zorn and company a lot of material to break down on him and what they need to do to put him in a better position to succeed/improve. There is only so much you can learn from not being in games. |
One of the guys that works for me is an Iowa grad, everytime i bring up his name he cringes and tells me he sucks and will never amount to anything. I can attribute that to the fact that he hates the Chiefs and is a Giants fan, but that's his school so what gives? Do we have any other Hawkeyes here?

Fair enough, I agree with the idea of playing him sometime this year, but I'm not sure I'd throw him right in. When you have a bad team, I am a believer in bringing the rookie QB along a bit slower than just tossing him out there, unless he is a first rounder like Newton. We don't have good pass protection, which will be a bigger issue with a guy who the game has not slowed down for yet, and who will be seeing game planned NFL defenses for the first time. We also don't have a great defense or an elite running game to hang our hat on, So I think if you throw him out there, you just end up with what happened to Clausen last year.
But before the end of the year, I would like to see him get a few starts, and maybe sooner if it becomes painfully evident that Palko doesn't add anything to the mix... |

He might suck. He also might be a 5th round draft pick just over halfway through his first year as a professional.
