Two things that made a difference last night

First, the BS holding call on Pope when Jones broke a long run for a first down. That was as ticky tacky as it gets.

Second, on the onside kick, I don't think anyone touched it. They called illegal touching on Kendrick Lewis, but he didn't touch the ball until it went 10 yards. When the ball was on it's way, even the announcers said that looked like it might have gone through cleanly. Could that have been challenged and if won, would have wiped away the penalty?

Look, we were not going to win the game. I get it. Palko looked fun for about 24 minutes, then it all went to hell. But those two incidents really screwed us when we were actually moving the ball and possessing momentum.

I dunno. I was drinking. I was happy. But it ended almost exactly the way I described that it would. ****in' Chiefs.

Buck 11-22-2011 06:29 AM

That holding call was legit. You guys are homers.

Bane 11-22-2011 06:30 AM

3 ****ing points!!! I've got nothing at all.

burt 11-22-2011 06:31 AM

We are a lot of things......but not homers.

Is this sarcasm?

If so, lol.

If not, and if you have watched the NFL at all.... then you know that so long as guys keep their hands inside, they don't call holding. The cliche is that holding can be called on every play....because it's true.

He drove him 10 yards backwards. He dominated him. It was a borderline call that doesn't get called 9 out of 10 times. Heck, it doesn't get called 99 out of 100 times.

memyselfI 11-22-2011 07:07 AM

Bad calls in favor of the Patriots? Are you kidding me? Shocking.

Fansy the Famous Bard 11-22-2011 07:08 AM

Then on the subsequent drive after the holding call, Hali is blatantly held yet no call.

Renegade 11-22-2011 07:10 AM

Tambi has been held all year long and never gets the call.

InChiefsHeaven 11-22-2011 07:14 AM

Seriously, I didn't think anyone touched the ball on the onside. The replays didn't seem to show it. But I had people over and there was a lot of talking going on. Did I miss something? Why didn't they challenge that?

Look, until Hali, Todd, Pioli, or Hunt make a public deal of it, the officials are going to let it ride. Even if it costs us an USLC call or two, sooner of later the press will "review" what he was so angry about and have to say, "well, he was held". And if not, what's it going to hurt, the other teams are putting point on the board no matter what. There's no real down-side to bringing light to the problem.

As for the holding call, I'm sorry, was HIS jersey left ripped? Nope! You'd have to look on the sideline at our defense to see that - sans any holding calls.

If anything, just call it both ways - sort of like baseball, give both pitchers the same strike zone...

Bob Dole 11-22-2011 07:27 AM

Funny. Bob Dole was sitting at the bar and the Saints fan next to him couldn't believe the BS holding call on Pope. Bob Dole said, "What makes it even worse is how many no-calls there are when Hali is held." A couple of minutes later her turns to Bob Dole and says, "You mean like that?"

It hit Greenwood's leg. The ball changed direction, it was pretty obvious.

Yeah, I was pretty sure I saw the ball change direction. I was going to go watch the play again this morning after the question came up.... but I quickly deleted that game last night off the DVR.

A Timeless Classic Treasure like Tyler Palko's first game as a starter in the NFL?:doh!:

Chiefnj2 11-22-2011 08:40 AM

Even if Pope isn't called for holding and KC gets another FG out of the drive, it was only a matter of time for the dam to break. NE came out in the 2nd half running the ball which opened up the passing game. The D broke down as it always does, and they pressured Pako in the 2nd half.

There is no doubt.

Nomination for the Epic Fail thread.

Yep. If the Chiefs could close they'd have been up 17-0 in the first half and it would have been a completely different game. They are the suck.

ROYC75 11-22-2011 09:17 AM

In Tyler's defense, it was not the QB that lost this game. I was impressed with the short game passing the 1st qtr, but that is usually the easiest to do to start a game. Not running the ball well and no down field passing was going to kill the game plan. Dink & dunk only works for so long when you can't stretch the field or run the ball effectively.

Indeed. You could feel the tide turned after their first TD drive.

From a couple days ago in another thread, regarding weather or not we'd be competative on MNF at the Pats:

Quote:

I'll be drunk. Telling myself that I don't care. Telling myself to expect a loss. Telling myself we will have another really good low draft pick in 2012. Then Palko will throw a 10 yarder to Bowe who will scamper for another 15 yards, and I'll put my drink down and lean forward towards the TV. Then the next play, Battle will get 4 yards up the middle, and I'll nod looking intently at the screen. Then the next play, Palko finds McCluster in the flat who scamper for another 12 yards, and I clap my hands intensely and say out loud "That's what I'm talkin' about fellas...Comeon!!" Then the drive ends and we kick a field goal, and I think "we can win this. We CAN win this! COME ON CHIEFS!". Then I pour another drink.

...3 hours later after the Chiefs are totally destroyed I'll be in my garage angrily smoking a cigarette and swearing incoherently at the TV listening to Jaws and Chucky slob all over Brady's knob.

...then I'll do it all over again the next week. I love my Chiefs, even if they hate me.
****, I hate being right. This is exactly what I predicted...for the most part.

It was, but it was not a blatant hold. A lot of these kinds of holds the refs don't call. I'm by no means saying there are NFL conspiracies, but I think the human nature in refs always deprives the inferior team of benefit of the doubt against elite teams.

Rasputin 11-22-2011 11:00 AM

Patriots > Chiefs (we suck)

Rasputin 11-22-2011 11:08 AM

Three guys covering him in the endzone pfffft... I can squeeze it in there/ Palko.

wazu 11-22-2011 11:26 AM

You guys are wrong about onside kick. Replay in slow motion showed it didn't touch his leg.

It didn't hit Lewis' leg, it hit Greenwood's.

Exactly. The refs called it wrong, it wasn't 23 that it touched.

jd1020 11-22-2011 11:40 AM

How anyone can watch that onside kick and say that no one touched it is mind boggling. I guess it was just a gust of wind that changed the balls path.

Like I said, there was a lot of noise in the room and all I heard was that they called the touch on Lewis, when the replay clearly showed that he didn't touch it. I just wanted to know what the planet thought, cuz I wasn't about to search the game thread.

Dartgod 11-22-2011 12:33 PM

The ball was touched. Just not by Lewis.

And the holding call on Pope was pure BS.

But none of it matters, we were going to get smoked in the end anyway.

Micjones 11-22-2011 12:38 PM

Pope's two penalties, the onside kick, the DJ lapse in coverage.
All momentum-changing/game-changing plays.
Most of which were mistakes.

Things tend not to go your way in other areas (like officiating) when you're shooting yourself in the foot already.

Buck 11-22-2011 03:40 PM

I'm still mad about the Gates PI.

Then you guys were on my case about it. So **** you.
