I actually enjoy watching Palko play QB

I know I am going to be in the major minority, but the dude is far, far easier for me to watch than Cassel. His pocket presence, and movements within the pocket are not painful to watch. When he is on the move outside the pocket, I actually expect something positive to happen. And he can find receivers who are open down the field, not recievers who are blanketed damn near every single pass play.

Carry on.

Bowser 12-04-2011 07:50 PM

And that's how bad it's gotten for Chiefs fans.

FAX 12-04-2011 07:51 PM

He studies really hard for each game. One of the most prepared guys on the team.

FAX

Go watch Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees then re-evaluate your love of watching Palko play QB.

Has cassel ever beat a D like the bears? Nope

jd1020 12-04-2011 07:53 PM

You must switch the channel before he actually releases the ball.

Red Beans 12-04-2011 07:53 PM

He uses 20 grit for toilet paper and has raped more women than any other QB that has graced the state of Pennsylvania. Save one...

Hell, no.

But Palko just did. And he did it the way it's supposed to be done ... by swinging at their nuts with our luck cat.

Beat the Steelers in 2009. 5th ranked defense in case you didn't know. Better than the Bears.

I just said I enjoy watching him compared to Cassel. The dude does give me hope that the front office can see that a major upgrade is needed at the QB position... and that the Cassel experiment has failed. Palko makes plays behind the same offensive line that Cassel can not even see. And I for one, have enjoyed watching that piece be brought to light.

I hope this is a joke, but I'll say to this the same thing I say about Tebow. Palko didn't beat the Bears defense. The Chiefs defense beat the Bears offense.

Charles ran for 58 yards... Less than what McCluster just put up against the Bears, with 6 more carries.

FAX 12-04-2011 08:00 PM

Seriously though ... I'm with you, Mr. Coogs.

The line did Palko no favors today. Not only did they point him out to the defense, but they killed some drive deals with stupid penalties. We had 2nd and 3 at one point that wound up being 2nd and 13 that turned into a punt, for example.

Palko has mobility, learns from his mistakes, and does the moose ears better than any other quarterback in the league at this point.

FAX

FringeNC 12-04-2011 08:00 PM

I agree that it is easier to watch Palko play than Cassel. Cassel can't think under pressure, he panics. Obviously, Palko doesn't have the arm to be anything more than a backup, though. (Obviously, Cassel doesn't have the head to be anything more than a backup.)

And he only got sacked twice. I fear Cassel would have went down as many times as the stiff playing for the Bears did today. In fact, I told my son that Henne's (sp) play at QB reminded me a whole bunch of watching Cassel. Painful!

Saying you like watching Palko play QB compared with Cassel is like saying you like looking at Rosanne naked versus Rosie O'Donnell.

What is the point?

Rain Man 12-04-2011 08:04 PM

I agree with coogs. Other than arm strength, which is likely a fatal long-term flaw, I think he may beat Cassel in every other facet of the game. I can see why the Chiefs have kept him on the roster.

I'll admit, though, that arm strength is a hard thing to teach. That's a problem.

When I watch Palko play, I cannot get my mind around how he was able to play at the college level. Seems like most guys I know with four working limbs should have been able to get a full-ride scholarship to Pitt if he did. I can't even comprehend how he played QB in high school. He is an unmitigated walking cluster**** of a disaster.

I agree. But our offense with Cassel at the helm looks far more like the Bears offense did today. Just damn painful to watch.

And there are QB's out there that can do things like Palko can, plus have better arm strength. One that comes to mind for me is in the draft. RGIII. But that is JMO

Palko has done nothing but suck, including today. He single-handedly lost us the Pittsburgh game, even though the defense played inspired, crazy-awesome football for four quarters to make it a would-have-been lay-up win with any offense.

I know we're in the minority, but like you, when Palko goes back I don't expect the worst, which is unfortunately the case whenever I see Cassel drop back.

Granted, Palko is likely statistically worse than Cassel on things like interceptions, so I'm not sure why I feel differently about them. Interceptions aside, I think it's because I don't see Palko doing inexplicable things like throwing the ball 20 yards into the stands instead of looking at his second read.

If we are just comaring him to Cassel then ok. His slow release, horrible ball, awful accuracy at times, and noodle arm, comparing him to a QB that we actually need to win a SB is much different.

What Palko shows is that our O-line is not total crap. What he also shows is that we do have receivers that are open down the field. He shows that if and when we do get an actual NFL QB in here, that this offense might not be all that bad.

I would say not only would the offense be "not all bad", but it would be pretty damn good. With a solid QB and Charles this offense would be really good right now. Add to that fixing the RT issue and it would be even better.

I think Cassel sucks as much as the next guy, but seriously...

Palko is the worst QB I've ever seen in a KC uniform Ever.

Guy has started 3 games and our only TD was a hail mary. Someone must really enjoy punting. You could give Palko 10 HOFers and play the 2002 KC defense 16 times and he'd never put up a mediocre 6th alternate probowl type season like Cassel did.

I'm not complimenting Cassel either. You guys are just nuts if you think Palko is better.

I don't know what some were watching. For me it was painful. The only positive thing he did was hold onto the ball. He does a lot of things better than Cassel, which is embarrassing considering the lack of experience Palko has. We won today because their QB struggled more than ours did. He wasn't moving the ball. The team averaged 5.2 YPA, very Cassel-like numbers. We punted 11 times. He was replaced in the middle of the game only to come back due to injury. I can't watch more of Tyler Palko.

his issue is in his midsection (core strength) - it's lacking. I'm pretty sure he is a good athelete, I was just telling clay, I bet the guy shoots a 75, bowls a 300 and could hit ten free throws in a row. But he needs core strenghth. STRENGTH is his problem.

It is hard to get worse than 3 turnovers in 3 plays, but really since that point he has played pretty solid football. Not spectacular, but solid.

And our defense is playing lights out since then too. It may not be a coincidence. I belive this team was closer to quiting on Cassel than they are to quiting on Palko. Both sides of the ball.
