Danny Parkins claiming Todd Haley cancelled team meetings Saturday night to go out.

Talking about it now, claims and "unnamed" source within the organization accidentally called him last night and they got to talking. The "source" told him he could take it to the air as long as his name was not involved.

Dave Lane 12-07-2011 09:16 AM

So that's the key to victory. Interesting.

Kind of the way I see it, and that's kind of what Danny is getting at. He also is saying he thinks it was planned to " accidentally" call him to get the story out... if true.

JD10367 12-07-2011 09:22 AM

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with this girl who saw Todd pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

I don't see why this is newsworthy.

Not real sure how this relates, he's a radio host in the city who covers the Chiefs and he claims it's one of his sources.

You don't? Actually quite newsworthy considering Haley's job situation and the cluster **** in this organization right now.

Fritz88 12-07-2011 09:32 AM

Haley seems to be the guy who tries to preserve his teams strength in all areas by going easy in the preseason and if this is true, cancel team meetings.

Its all blowing up in his face right now.

You don't ****ing experiment in the job, Todd.

Last time I checked he's the head coach and it's HIS CALL. If he thinks his guys need a break I don't see it as anybody's business and it's certainly not some scandal like you're pretending it to be. Coaches give players time off during the season, every season.

The world is starting to frighten me. Apart from the Denny's strippers and other nimrods people dissect every thing a coach / politician does in such a level of stupidity its insane. Whats next? Haley took a shit at half time, scandal!!! Should have been talking to the team.

Scandal? Not sure where youre getting that. I'm just sharing the story as it is being told to me on air. And time off? This isn't practice, its a team meeting. I personally don't think its a HUGE deal considering we won, just sharing Chiefs news in a Chiefs forum.

This. I swear, I thought Red Sox fans (real ones, not the pink hats) were the most obsessive fans in sports, but I think Chiefs fans are worse. Win or lose, good or bad, it seems like every single thing gets blown up and dissected and, ultimately, someone finds something negative to say. Maybe this was a GOOD thing, like Haley saying, "Look... I know we're massive underdogs, and everyone expects us to lose on the road to a strong playoff contender... but I think you guys are ready for it." Let's say, on your job, you have a task that seems almost impossible, and your boss--who was supposed to oversee it--suddenly says, "You know what, you guys have got this, I'm outta here"... Wouldn't that make you feel confident?

It's a rumor. An unfounded rumor. A story to drive up ratings and mouseclicks. Utter bullshit, and utterly pointless.

I personally could care less if its true or not, I agree it isn't a huge deal. I simply figured some people on here would want to hear it considering all the shit going on. Just sharing it, I never once said anything about a scandal. Its a story related to the Chiefs, so I shared with other Chiefs fans.

One team meeting would turn everything around?

If true, is there any context? Did the earlier team meeting run extra long? Did the coach feel that everyone understood what they were installing for the game? Did the coach feel that players were pressing too much in the last few games and want to get them loose for a critical road game?

Or, as the story seems to imply, Coach said "F*** It! I'm gonna hit the club!"?

Brock 12-07-2011 09:47 AM

I bet if they had that meeting, they would have scored another field goal or something.

Haha no I completely agree. As of now hardly anything has been given, Danny said he was going to ask Haley about it at the Presser today. The way I took it, meetings are just something they regularly have Saturday nights before games i guess

Eh, I dunno. I certainly don't remember all of the off-the-field scrutiny of players and coaches back when I first joined anyway. It's like TMZ has taken over the entire world of media, and people just keep buying into it. Kind of sad, really.

Every team does when on the road...they usually have reserved 3 spaces in the hotel...Offense, Defense and team. It is also a way to make sure everyone makes curfew before bed check, and yes NFL teams do that too.

This is critical since Haley's not only the coach of the team but also the pseudo (aka "real") OC, the Beard Baron, the Brain, the Golf Pro, and the Jock Holder/Carrier of all Chiefs players.

SenselessChiefsFan 12-07-2011 11:16 AM

I have been over Haley for a while. I don't know if this is true or not. If true, add it to the reasons he should be fired.

I don't even care if it's true. Coaches add and cancel practices (and meetings) all the time. The only thing that is even a MINOR concern is all of this is the "to go out" part. However, 1) I don't see how that can be anything other than conjecture and 2) if he felt the team (and he) needed a rest, then so be it.

It's not like we're talking about Sabby partying at 3am or anything.

If true, it's problematic. The last thing the Head Coach of a 5-7 football team should be doing is cancelling team meetings for a night on the town. And I'm pretty liberal when it comes to coaches/players leading normal lives off-the-field.

Yeah...would have to try to get one of those pesky franchise QBs....we might fail. So, let's not even try.

So, the moral of the story is - Parkins is as dumb as Fescoe.

And what are you assuming "going out" means? I seriously doubt Haley was going clubbing. Maybe he "went out," got dinner, and turned in early?

My point is, it's all conjecture about something that MIGHT have happened. It just seems silly (and as mentioned earlier, very TMZ) to me.
