Lucky me. I got selected for the mother of all jury dutys.
 

Federal Grand Jury Duty. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :banghead:

I am going to have to serve for 18 months, 18 F**king months. I will have too call every Sunday night to see if I have to go in for one or two days that week. These will be high profile cases like murders and other gruesome crimes that the Grand jury will decide if it should go to trail. They will let you off to take a vacation or for others important things but thats about it. There are 3 million people in San Diego and they only pick up to 23 people to do this. I feel like I have been drafted. I guess someone has to do it and I am retired and have the time but 18 months. I always felt guilty because I never served in the military so I guess Karma came down on me. Has anyone ever done this or know of any one that has done this?

I know I can't get out of it and I really don't want to so please no smartass posts about crazy ass things I could do to get out of it.

Not a huge deal or anything, but prolly shouldn't talk much about when you go, now that the mob knows you're one of the targets for their big murder case being tried in the near future....

Seriously though, that sucks. I've never done jury duty, but I've only been eligible for like 5 years...

Just had this happen to me last week. Only a 2 day trial. The wife said during jury questioning to say "I don't like Black people".

We had much newspaper coverage on the trial. Again, small town. It was a sex offender issue. I told them that I followed it carefully. When asked if I I had seen this coverage, would I be able to only listen to the facts presented and disregard what I'd seen in the newspaper?? I said, No. They moved for me to leave.

To get relieved from jury duty, at the begining is hard. When they start asking jury questions, think of anything that might make you be biased. Be honest. In my heart, when I said I couldn't be a dis-interested third party in listening to the evidence...I couldn't.

Thus, it's quite easy to get out of. If I had time for a 2 day jury, I would have. I'm a sole owner of my company. And thank goodness that I got out of it. I had 4 phones calls in the first day that I could only answer.

As a retired person, I can't answer that. But 18 months....someones got to do it:(

Your right. Why 18 months. I could see maybe 3 months or 6 months. I don't want to do this for 18 months. That's B*llsh*t.
