Montana was a 3rd round pick.

Put it this way, the Chiefs haven't a first round pick at the QB on the roster since Blackledge in 1987. Even when they pick up other teams quarterbacks it was always a low round player. 24 YEARS without a single first round pick of anybody's at the QB position.

yup, fixed it. Also added Doug Hudson (started one game in 1987, lasted 5 whole minutes....he was a 7th round pick)

What is sad is how CLEAR the correlation is to us winning the AFL/AFC and having a slew of 1st round QBs on the roster... apparently we REALLY knew what we were doing in the 60s and have been pretty clueless since.

Hard to believe Warren Moon UFA.

I wonder if any other franchise has that drought?

No. Saints are the longer than us in drafting a first round QB, but they had Jim Everrett for a few years who was a first round pick of the Rams.

BigChiefFan 12-19-2011 10:21 PM

Good Lord, that is disgraceful.

chefsos 12-19-2011 11:11 PM

I recall that Adams was signed after a pretty good year in the WFL in 1974. But yeah, after looking it up, he was indeed drafted in the 14th round (by SD) in '73.

Epic Fail 007 12-19-2011 11:26 PM

BRODIE CROYLE FOR PRESIDENT!LOL

DenverChief 12-19-2011 11:52 PM

Man I forgot about Dave Kreig...http://wwwdelivery.superstock.com/WI...k_863-W125.jpg

BigMeatballDave 12-20-2011 12:00 AM

Jfc how sad is that list?

I need to laugh to keep from crying.

RustShack 12-20-2011 12:00 AM

vomit.

Rasputin 12-20-2011 12:16 AM

Matt Blundin 2nd round pick, iirc tried about four pass plays, and that was that.

Dexter Manley 12-20-2011 06:17 AM

I did pan NE for spending a 7th on Cassel in real time...

Little did I know Billy B would be able to dump him for a high second to a "genius" NFL FO operative...

Honestly, if Girlbac was an 8th round pick I have to admit he overachieved.

He ****ing downed us as a franchise but he overachieved...

So, according to this our "best" QB's have been: Green 8th, Grback 8th, Gannon 4th, Montana 3rd, Dawson 1st, and DeBerg 10th.

It's not about when you pick them.

It's about how you pick them, who coaches them, and who they have around them...
