RT @SI_PeterKing: Just heard the Josh McDaniels deal to New England is not done yet >> I think he really wants to go to KC.

How is that bad news?

The Bad Guy 01-07-2012 02:48 PM

Hilarious. I was just going to post this.

McDaniels wants the Chiefs, and wants them bad from what I'm told.

He views New England as a place where his resume won't grow to be a HC. It's a spot where he's destined to be a long time. Safe and secure, yes, but no risk/reward.

He comes here, and does well, he'll have opportunities, including this one when Rac retires.

The plot is going to thicken. It's no coincidence that Pioli put out that Romeo is staying on the same day that McDaniels was just about signed to NE.

Because he has a hard-on for Cassel, which is the main thing holding this team back from a good football team, head coach doesn't matter, the QB does.

There's a shot in "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" where the rapist has the girl chained to the bed face down, rips off her panties, and says, "I hope you like anal".

Chiefs fans are the girl. McDaniels is the rapist.

When 8-8 is inevitable, lie back and enjoy it. :D

First of all, I've gone on record that we could do a lot worse than McDaniels as OC.

Second, I'm really hesitant to believe that they are capable of having a fair competition in TC (not that I doubt your source, TBG.)

Will they make Orton/Stanzi throw left-handed? Have the backup line and Thomas Jones behind the others, and let Cassel run with the "A" team?

That's the real question.

I'm sick of this franchise as well. We got rid of one good ole' boys network for another.

If I had to guess, they'll try to convince Orton back on a 2 year deal and promise him an open competition.

From what I was told again, Romeo is no Cassel fan though.

The thinking is sound. He wants to go somewhere with the chance to advance.

He goes back to New England, he's there for a long time.

keg in kc 01-07-2012 03:23 PM

What you have to hope is that the competition is between Orton and Cassel, Orton wins and Stanzi develops to take over by 2014. Which I don't think will happen, since I believe his ceiling is career backup. But given the cards that it looks like we're being dealt, I can't think of a more optimistic potential outcome. I still don't see this franchise drafting a qb in the first two rounds of the draft.

That's about as stupid as the Broncos fans who think Tebow will be traded to New England. Why the **** would the Patriots want Tebow OR Cassel? They already have an apparently-capable backup (Hoyer) and a promising rookie to polish (Mallett).

No one will want Cassel. If they do, it'll be for a 5th-rounder at best, as a backup. And it won't be to New England.

Well they didn't talk about it being the Rams offense when they hired him. The publicity, TV news and papers all talked about him being the mastermind of the Chief's offense. They were selling that to the fans, and I laughed.

The Bears management is even more disfunctional than the Chiefs.

But you are correct about the Chiefs on the Rams, 9ers and Pats with a little Jets thrown in from Herm.

As I recall, his contract was structured so that it can be easily voided this year, which would mean the options (if they go that direction) on his side would be to renegotiate or be released and hope he can find a job somewhere else. But I'll admit that I don't know the specifics of his contract; I'm just going off of memory.

He has three years remaining, paying something like 5, 8, and 9 million. No team wants that contract. Sure, we could renegotiate it and tell him we will cut him otherwise. But if he knows he's on trading block he won't do it. I just don't see how we could pull it off.
