Taco Bell: "Doritos Locos Tacos" Coming Soon

Mmmmmmm

A Taco Supreme® made with premium seasoned beef, crisp lettuce, diced juicy red ripe tomatoes, real cheddar cheese, topped with cool reduced-fat sour cream, in a shell made from Nacho Cheese Doritos® Chips.

Yes, this is for real. The countdown for the arrival of Doritos® Locos Tacos has begun. Try not to stare at the clock--time will pass quicker that way.

They've been in Cali for about 2 months now. Guess that's why we're fat.

Imon Yourside 02-17-2012 02:52 PM

Taco Bell, some of the worst food on the planet. Last time i ate at Taco bell was when they had the Rancho Steak Burrito somewhere around the mid 90's.

shitgoose 02-17-2012 02:53 PM

I'm Loco for Doritos so i will probably give a shot even though I'm not Loco for ground beef that contains very little actual beef.

How in the world does Taco Bell exist in California? Everyone knows that they only eat "authentic" Mexican there. It must be the tourists - day after day... hour after hour... minute after minute - that fill up the stores and drive-up windows.

Buck 02-17-2012 02:59 PM

Funny how adding Doritos to your menu actually increases the food quality.

I feel sorry for anyone who ever eats at Taco Bell.

Gross.

Tourist? Um no lol Cali has tons of Taco Bells. There's even one in Taft, Ca.

Look up Taft and you can decide if that's a tourist town lol. Log Angeles has a population over 4 million. Why wouldn't we have Taco Bells lol.

Hey Buck

Do they have Fausto's Mex-Grill there? That is some of the BEST Mexican fast food here in Henderson/Vegas.

Their Carne Nachos supreme is a freaking meal by itself. Between them and Taco HELL there is no freaking comparison. I agree that TB is pretty Gross.

I don't think so, I've never heard of it. We have some good Mexican chains here, but the best spots are the hole in the wall taco shops.

trowel meat

It has been a long time since I ate at TB. Somehow watching the "meat" applied by trowel makes me lose my appetite.:(

No thanks. I've been making taco salads at home using Doritos for quite some time now. Very tasty and doubtful that Taco Bell could come close.

Crunch up Doritos, add beans, freshly cooked ground beef with taco seasoning, fresh lettuce, your favorite cheese, and any other toppings, and enjoy.

Word on the street a few years ago was that there was a certain body part mixed in with the meat Taco Bell uses for their dishes. Totally messed up my craving for tacos from Taco Bell. Now when I am in the mood for Tacos, I prepare my own.

In58men 02-17-2012 11:12 PM

I'll smash on Taco Bell every night.

Had some last night. Can't go wrong with a cheesy gordita crunch

I don't think Taco Bell has ever come out w/ anything original in the last 15 years. They just find a different combination of ingredients they already have on their shelves in the back and give it another silly little name.

They do seem to have like 7 or 8 ingredients... and just put them together in different ways.

This.

Except it doesn't matter because at 2am, with some intoxication, their stuff is pure gold, Jerry.

Consistent1 02-18-2012 11:07 AM

I usually go to Red Burrito instead these days. Love making my own stuff, but getting deals like six tacos for $5 is hard to beat. I've grown to like RB a lot more for fast food of that sort.

vailpass 02-18-2012 11:08 AM

Taco Bell is for people that don't have Filibertos or Rolibertos or any other local bean barrels.

Taco Bell's Five Ingredients Combined In Totally New Way

LOUISVILLE, KY–With great fanfare Monday, Taco Bell unveiled the Grandito, an exciting new permutation of refried beans, ground beef, cheddar cheese, lettuce, and a corn tortilla. "You've never tasted Taco Bell's five ingredients combined quite like this," Taco Bell CEO Walter Berenyi said. "The revolutionary new Grandito, with its ground beef on top of the cheese but under the beans, is configured unlike anything you've ever eaten here at Taco Bell." The fast-food chain made waves earlier this year with its introduction of the Zestito, in which the beans are on top of the lettuce, and the Mexiwrap, in which the tortilla is slightly more oblong.

mikeyis4dcats. 02-18-2012 11:11 AM

I know right! It's like Pizza Hut where they just take the same 10 ingredients and leep making the same. ****ing. thing.

I tried one for lunch today. It was tasty - complete with the little Doritos powder stuff that gets stuck on your fingers. Not sure it's worth $.40 more, though.

That's what they do, with just a few exceptions. Pizza Hut used to be owned by the same parent company so I'm sure they would be doing the same thing.

listopencil 03-08-2012 03:02 PM

OK, I'm going to my local Taco Bell to try out the Doritos taco thing. I rarely go. I was the GM from 95-96 and it's gone downhill since I left. I hope they have the meth addicts on the register instead of making the food this time.

I make "haystacks". Start with a bed of Fritos. Put beans, seasoned hamburger and nacho cheese on it. Then build a salad on top of that with whatever ingredients you like. I go with lettuce, shredded sharp cheddar, diced tomatoes or salsa, guacamole, sour cream, jalapenos, olives and green onions. You can also use corn chips but Fritos or generic Fritos works best.

It looks interesting, but I dread the potential pain and embarrassment of the over-crispy shell.

For some reason, I can easily imagine this damn thing busting into a thousand pieces while I'm trying to eat and drive. Then, when I exit the car, I'll look like I attacked a salad bar with a weed-eater.

I just got the 5 dollar box. And, speaking of five dollar boxes, we have a new prostitute in town. It's a small town (6k-7k) so you get used to the normal ones walking around. As it happens i had my cell phone out and snapped a crappy pic of her. I'll post it when I get it from my cell.

It was tasty and the shell was about the same as a normal shell other than the flavor. The bottom was already soft with grease after my two minute drive home. Well, I did slow down to take a pic of the hooker but that was maybe an extra ten seconds tops.

A lot of my Mexican students prefer it as well. I don't know, I just really like Tapatio, but I definitely have a bottle of each of the Valentina sauces in my fridge. My absolute favorite, even though it's too hot to use in the ketchup-like way I use Tapatio is:

I'm not crazy about their green or red sauces, but this brownish one is just the shit. Totally unique and full of flavor.
