'SEINFELD' STAR
Survives Suicide Attempt
'I've Shot Myself in the Head'

Daniel von Bargen -- who played Mr. Kruger in "Seinfeld" -- is clinging to life in an Ohio hospital after shooting himself in the head Monday morning in a failed suicide attempt ... and TMZ has the horrifying 911 tape in which he calls for help.

Daniel tells the 911 operator, "I've shot myself in the head ... and I need help."

The operator asks if it was an accident -- Daniel replies, "I was supposed to go to the hospital and I didn't want to." Daniel says he's diabetic, explaining, "They were supposed to amputate at least a few toes."

The operator asks where the gunshot wound is -- Daniel replies, "I shot in my temple."

Law enforcement officials confirm they were dispatched to von Bargen's Cincinnati apartment complex a short time later -- and when they arrived, you can hear them on the 911 tape ... yelling at Daniel to keep his hands where they could see them.

Von Bargen -- who also played Chief Grady in "Super Troopers" -- was transported to a nearby hospital where he is currently in critical condition.

During the call, Daniel goes into even more graphic detail about his condition. Listen at your own discretion.

Predarat 02-22-2012 03:50 PM

His show won the ****ing poll! That was dumb of him to do that.

Pablo 02-22-2012 03:50 PM

Should have shot Jerry instead. Seinfeld sucks and so does anyone who likes it.

Buck 02-22-2012 03:50 PM

I voted for the Simpsons, btw.

durtyrute 02-22-2012 03:51 PM

See what you haters have done!!

Frazod 02-22-2012 03:51 PM

This reminds me of the line from the Kevin Kline movie I Love You To Death: "When a you get shot in a the head, it make a you think." LMAO

Buck 02-22-2012 03:52 PM

From about 5:10 on it sounds like he's getting a blow job.

KCUnited 02-22-2012 03:53 PM

We need more Seinfeld threads like we need a hole in our head.

Dartgod 02-22-2012 03:53 PM

He seems rather calm throughout the ordeal.

Buck 02-22-2012 03:53 PM

LOL

"Don't move."
"I'm not."
"Don't move!"
"I"M NOOOOT!"

Gonna be hard to top this.

KCUnited 02-22-2012 03:56 PM

Hopefully he comes out of this a Newman.

Frazod 02-22-2012 03:56 PM

I was actually hoping it would be one of the main stars.

And how fitting it would be if the others showed up and mocked the person afterward:

Jerry: OH MY GOD, Elaine is getting blood all over my sofa!

Kramer: Isn't that the same spot with Pepe peed?

George: Dammit, she was supposed to hook me up with her hot friend! Now what the hell am I going to do with this extra ticket!

(and you people thought I never watched the show)

Rain Man 02-22-2012 03:58 PM

Did he report that it was like getting kicked in the head by Crazy Joe Davola? Maybe he should've been wearing a helmet.

Chiefnj2 02-22-2012 03:59 PM

He's lucky he didn't get tazered.

Frazod 02-22-2012 04:00 PM

So, did anybody have this guy in the Dead Pool?

stevieray 02-22-2012 04:02 PM

...this episode is prolly all over nothing...

That's weird. I was just watching Mr. Kruger Seinfeld highlights a few days ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6kVBGeQeR4

His character was one of the funnier parts of the final season, IMO.

K-UGER!

He already had one leg amputated. I figure he's probably experiencing a slow death. I'm sorry for him.

He wasn't a star on Seinfeld, he was a star on Malcolm in the Middle, which should have won the poll.

that's fine, you don't have to agree with the majority of everybody. I often don't, but in this case, Seinfeld is the greatest TV sitcom of all time.

This.

There were only 4 stars of Seinfeld. Misleading headline. Ban him!

Sofa King 02-22-2012 09:32 PM

I clearly copied TMZ's headline. So take it up with them you ****ers!

Okie_Apparition 02-22-2012 10:04 PM

GAMMY'S GETTIN' UPSET

Ultra Peanut 02-23-2012 04:47 AM

But yeah, this is really depressing, and I'm on the verge of running through the amazing stretch of episodes he appeared in on Seinfeld yet another time so that's going to be really weird. He was so incredibly fun to to watch on both Seinfeld and MitM, and a few days ago I was scrolling through basic cable while visiting family in TN and was shocked to discover that he was in the inimitable Kevin Costner classic The Postman. So sad to hear that he's gone through so many health issues that he'd rather be dead.

What's especially depressing is that his quality of life is going to be even worse now; an old neighbor of mine similarly tried and failed to kill himself (with weed killer, jesus christ :( ) only to go deaf, suffer renal failure, and eventually succeed in killing himself on his second attempt after what must have been a horrible year of knowing he was slowly dying anyways.

agreed. there's really no other option. there's no other show that compares. episode after episode of pure awesomeness. it's GOLD...pure GOLD.
calling the dude a star....eh....maybe Newman or Jerry's parents....maybe even Jerry's uncle...or Peterman....hell Putty even....but this guy?! I do wish him well though.

It's a hot night. The mind races. You think about your knife: the only friend who hasn't betrayed you; the only friend who won't be dead by sunup. Sleep tight, friends, in your quilted chambray nightshirts.

Rain Man 02-24-2012 05:47 PM

Wow. I didn't remember that he was in both Seinfeld and Malcolm in the Middle. Those are two of the three best sitcoms in television history.

Rain Man 02-24-2012 05:53 PM

I'm looking up his history, and he's got good taste in scripts. He had parts in Silence of the Lambs, Basic Instinct, O Brother Where Art Thou, and Philadelphia at the movies, and had TV appearances in Seinfeld, Malcolm in the Middle, Ally McBeal, West Wing, and The X-Files.

Super Troopers was his best work.

If lack of love from the Sitcom poll could result in this, why didn't Fran Drescher blow her brains out too?

Only because Trailer Park Boys is a little obscure, Rainman. IMO of course.

If that show was on a network, it would likely be one of, if not THE, most popular show/s on TV.
